This time we're fitting the new Heritage front subframe to the MkI, plus a look at the new engine. Part 18 - • Project 63 part 18 - N... www.med-engineering.co.uk
I love how this car is turning out, just the right amount of upgrades. Did this Mini have a push button start? What's the reason for changing to a solenoid?
Thanks Andrew. The pre-made loom we bought was for a later MkI with alternator, so for simplicity we decided to bypass the floor start and fit a later turn-key ignition switch. In an ideal word we would have wired up from scratch, but couldn't justify the time/cost.
Fantastic work chaps and looks stunning. 🎉 Do you not run air filters? I get the performance gains from the ram pipes but isn't there a risk having the carb inlets exposed? Is this okay for a Road car? Also where does the breather pipe go to from the MED timing cover? Is that going to a second catch tank under the passensger wing?
If we fancy a longer road trip we'd install a filter, but it's not going to be a high mileage car. We're going to weld an additional inlet to the rocker cover on that side.
Does having the fuel filter up that high prevent you using the last 1/4 or so of fuel? Or is the pump able to suck up and through the filter to the pump?
@@MEDEngineeringTechVideos basically got engine loom working but not lights, no abs sensors and no radio etc, I’ve run out of wiring skill so looking for a reputable person to help - you guys seem to really know your stuff
Great update on a great project
sounds great - excellent work gents
Great work chaps......sounds great.....I'll see you at the coffee meet 👍👌
Very nice job on the car, very high quality bit of kit and sounds amazing. Makes want to pull my finger out and start my clubman
That looks and sounds awesome
Looking good guys. Please make the videos a bit longer. 🙏
❤
Just my ideal Mini…. Could you put a complete specification for it somewhere I could download it? It’s even the right colour. Love it!
Cheers
Will
I cut my 14 year old teeth on Minis, Did my 1st ever Llandow race at 18 CLASS-5, So watching this Beauty come together brings back amazing memories.

Just wondering if this is the standard sound for this exhaust or has the engine enhanced it. I’m looking for an exhaust system for my 1310 1275 GT
Yes they do sound sweet. This engine is running around 11:1 compression, so not a full race motor.
I love the project and hate to be negative but is that rust coming through on the seam at the side of the headlight
There's a few imperfections in the shell, but it's about preservation with this one rather than full restoration.

Yes they can pull from 1.5 metres - quite powerful little pumps.
which model facet fuel filter are you guys using?
We're running a Petrol King regulator on this one.
Not so keen on the external 12v fuel pump connectors.
It's ok, it's not going to be a wet weather all season car.
Very nice. Why not your lovely MED alloy Radiator?
We had this one going spare on the shelf 😄
Why the white reflectors under the head lights
Is this car going for export
It was made in Zimbabwe in 1963 from a CKD kit.
I notice no oil cooler - would this be just for a race car
Typically yes, prolonged high RPM, or when run in warm climates.
Would you guys happen to have any recommendations for someone to convert a body loom to plug and play?
How'd you mean?

@@josephpickering1927sorry, no idea when it comes to modern cars, CAN bus, ABS etc. Best try and find a local auto electrician.
