My dearest master chronicler, Greetings once again from the spires of Dub-hive. I pen my now customary correspondence to you from my humble scriptorium by the light of my flickering lumin after reviewing your latest report on these paragons of the divine Emperor's angels, the Ultramarines. I must say, this most honoured of chapters is a very popular subject of my students at the schola, as well as the citizens of our hive. As you rightly point out, the astartes of the 13th legion had been recruited from many diverse and, to be blunt intractable, populations of the Unification wars Terra. It may not be known in these days of glorious unity on our most Holy homeworld but the population of the Eir plateau were a people of stubborn tradition and uncompromising independence, traits that the castrum-holds of Old Albia struggled to cope with. It is said that the "Ironside" power armour, a precursor of the Mk1 power armour type famously used by the Emperor's Thunder Warriors, was developed to combat the "Gael" strike warriors of the Eir clan forts. With the coming of the Emperor's legions, the Eir clans, also known in Imperial records as the "Hoth-grendal", resisted compliance and were brought low swiftly by his most glorious forces, in the main his ever victorious Thunder Warriors, yet not completely. Unfortunately, much to the eternal shame of those of the Eir-district who are aware of the past, the clans were bruised, but not broken, and engaged in guerrilla warfare and vile terrorism against the Unification authorities. And so, at the behest of the Hive-Lords of Albia and those Eir clan chiefs that accepted the Emperor's divine and rightful rule, the youths of those reticent clans were inducted into the Warborn, later to be known as the Ultramarines. In this enlightened policy, our region became forever tied to this most glorious and honoured legion, later chapter and those recruited into this grand brotherhood kept the marshal customs and traditions of their origin. In fact, later, once the wise Primarch, Roboute Gilliman, divided the legion into chapters, several of them with ties back to Eir, brought forth these old traditions of the Gael warriors and the traditions older still, maintaining their ancient link back to the plateau from which they arose. Even today, at the Grand Emerald Basilica of Dub-hive, the ceremony of the Azur Shield reminds all the faithful throughout the hive of our proud connection to this legendary legion and the chapters that were raised from our soil. And so, my most esteemed master, I once again must give my most humble thanks for this comprehensive history, which resonates so completely throughout our hive, so much so the warcry of those worthy sons of Gilliman echoes throughtout our halls "We march for Macragge". Until our next correspondence, Ave Imperator, Gloria in Excelcius Terra.

WOOOHOOOO!!! This is what I asked for. Finishing up the three missing Astarte Legions from the playlist. Oculus rocks!
This is one of the best RUclips channels when you consider how much effort is put into each video. Your hard work is appreciated!!
Ah I see Oculas is finally making a video about the greatest of all space marines!
But this isn't a Rainbow Warriors video...
Magneus Craglar, King of the Space Marines?
I wonder if he'll make a video about the most esteemed Cato Sicarius?
I've been really sick on and off. I've missed so many of your releases. Today I binge. Ty!!!
Get well soon bud!
Circa Great Crusade Ultramar was arguably, the nearest thing to a microcosm of what The Imeperium Of Man was originally meant to be.
I’ve been drooling for this for two years now! Excelsior, glory Oculus.
Man I come back to your videos probably twice a week trying to get through your whole catalog because it's just simply outstanding sir the amount of effort you put into these videos is very commendable I like the way you go through them you do sound like an imperial history novitiate
Refusing to pronounce it Ro-bootay I see…

You are by far my favorite 40k RUclipsr... That said, it hurt me deeply to hear such a gifted orator utter the word "hung" in place of the proper and appreciate term when referring to persons or any individual being executed via noose: that term being "hanged." Pictures can and may have been hung. Christmas ornaments can and may have been hung. Persons, however, cannot have been hung. They can only have been hanged. (Referring specifically to those persons or individuals having been asphyxiated about the neck via rope or rope like apertures. You can nail a person to a wall, and in such a case I suppose they have there by been hung.) I love your work with all my heart. It is only because of your exceptional acumen for such work as you have thusly pursued that I even noticed and therefore felt compelled to remark on this slightest of oversights.... Thank you for what you do.

Every. Frakking. Time! Quality! To be good enough that I'm mentally transported across time and space. Leaving me at a cognitor, smoking IHO sticks while reading this report with accompanying narration. I can hear the gears whirring as the machine presents pict capture, and weird scratchy vid. You can also hear the weight of what this scribe has learned and is attempting to summarize. It's not just information, the excitement, the grief, the anger! (Too dignified to yell though)
Please. Keep. Doing. This! I've said it before and I'll repeat it. You provide some of the most interesting, entertaining sanity fuel on the net! You are amazingly talented. (If it's just you solo, wow! If there's other people helping, wow! (Louder). Thank you again sir!

My first Space Marine colour scheme. First 2nd edition codex. While the 40k version is vanillarily cast. 30k has such a rich background. Once again it is in the titbits you have sprinkled through your many record stacks that have whetted my appetite for this legion. Thank you so much :)

Just got Spacemarines 2 and I’m so invested in the lore of this game!
I can’t believe all this time I didn’t know that Guilliman was an allegorical Augustus Caesar. I knew they had a deep Roman aesthetic, but I never read his books, once Oculus got to the part where his dad was murdered in the Senate I was like Ohhhhhhhhhhh
So we Sparticus, Temujin, Octavian, Richard the Lionheart, (redacted), arguably Mohammad, Ragnar Lodbrok, Elagabulus, Zhukov, Jack the Ripper, (redacted), Edgar Allen Poe, the entire CIA, and General Marshall, in no particular order. Who would you say some of the other Primarchs could be stand-ins for?
@@Deridus Many of the Primarchs/Legions had a general cultural/ethnic theme. Lorgar was Semitic (Jewish or Arabic), Jaghatai Khan obviously Mongolian, Vulkan African, etc.
@@Deridus Wait who was Zhukov?
@@mmallory22 I always imagined Perty as a Zhukov, only... as a failure. A better version would, of course, be Falkenhayn, but the WW1 generas aren't as well known.
@@Deridus Field Marshal Mikhail Tukhachevsky (Red Napoleon) of the Soviet Union could be a good example, as he was a Theoretician of Deep-Battle-Theory, eccentric neo-pagan, along with a passion for high-culture, and also for his use of chemical weapons in liquidating peasant uprisings.
This day just got a whole lot better for me.
I was so excited for this video. The second you started teasing it. I love the ultrmaeines in 30K. Excellent job as always Oculus

Considering subject of your last video, I can only assume that the next one will be the Word Bearers.
When that time is nearing once again, the inevitable spilling of blood might be a problem for other godly entities. Not so for the Emperor, though, because other godly entities are using just common Speesh Mareenz, whereas the Emperor is using _always_ Ultra!

You say Girlyman was on the only primarch in his region of space but Angron was near the borders of Ultramar
When I first started collecting and playing 40k a couple years ago, I ask my friend who was a seasoned player of the table top game if there are any loyalist primarch models. He said Bobby G. I was like yeah, those are my dudes. Been having fun with them ever since.

Also I like how in this video its "The Ultramarines stayed behind after a conquest to rebuild and make loyal worlds, and the Administratum loved it!
And then in the Word Bearers it was "The Word Bearers stayed behind after a conquest to rebuild and make loyal worlds, and the Administratum HATED IT, IT WAS WAY TOO SLOW"
