    Suicidal Tendencies was always one of those bands that for some reason had killer behs-ists. I remember one of my friends in 6th grade, while everybody else was wanting to play guitar & drums, got into bass solely because he was obsessing over the bass parts in “Go Skate”.

      Not as crazy as seeing Mick Jagger do it at near 80, and looking leaner and more energetic than some 20 somethings. 😂
      He’s kept the same fitness and eating routine since the late 70’s, after he got sober. Keith is just not killable, so whenever he decides to die, he’ll drop onstage that night. 😆

    • @CorbCorbin
      @CorbCorbin 9 месяцев назад +7

      That’s really cool. I saw them when I was like 12 or 13. Right around 1991ish. Great show. The teenagers and bigger folks were protecting me in the pit, and even put me onstage at one point. I dove back off, because I was scared I’d get the person who got me into the gig in trouble. 🤓
      They were playing a small place, that was supposed to be 18 and up, for whatever reason, and a buddy’s aunt, who was 19 or 20, got us in. She took us to a lot of cool shows, as well as the first two Lollapaloozas, and other festivals. Awesome woman.

      Can't stand that drummer. He's got chops, i'll give that to him but his playing is robotic and soulless.
      I've never heard him hold down a deep pocketed groove or lay sick complex fills.
      His playing sound like if you would program a drum track on a piano roll with midi, like velocity/nuances of each hit/notes sounds like the same.
      The only honorable mention i can say is that he can pull pretty complex polyrhythms with ease but that in itself is not really impressive if you don't have any creative ways to use it.

    If you're aware and into the scene long enough, you'll find these characters/performers that carry a persona, a shtick, and a trademark unique style. They're pretty established and very much in-tune with a technique and an aesthetic that act as a calling card.
    Those artists are absolute conessuirs of music. It's not just that they pull inspiration from bands and musicians' past - they haved dipped their toes into ALL genres, here and there.
    That's what makes them so good at what they do: they're into EVERYTHING.
