John 3:16-21
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

That's the highest compliment you can get as a guitarist.
They called him GUITAR for a reason...
So long after Sister Rosetta Tharpe was already rocking lead guitar!!!
There were a ton of lead guitarists before Watson. It was his use of reverb and distortion and his frenetic playing style that got the attention. Especially because he was more of a reserved player before that 1954 release.
Johnny Watson. What a legend. Hadn't even HEARD of him before today. Thank you jhonny

@@Htheorphanarian no, watson just riffed on the theme as it was recognisable due to being on tv at the time. artists actually did this fairly often, making overt references to other popular jingles/themes or pieces of classical music in their own compositions/performances. not in a stealing or plagiaristic sort of way (because it was _very_ obvious to listeners at the time that e.g. "that's the theme from _dragnet"),_ more in a playful "i understood that reference" sort of way.
