Except he said Strickland had no power then you cut to Uriah’s interview on Jaxxon podcast (7.5.24), and Uriah said Strickland had a powerful assed jab that he never expected. Then you watch him get hit with Strickland’s jab all match and you see each time it hurts a lot. Mike might need to feel the newer Strickland

I believe that the fight between Paulo Costa and Sean Strickland is more closely contested than people think. Sean Strickland is a guy who likes to impose pressure in the fight; he only moves forward in the octagon, just like Paulo, but the difference is that Sean Strickland's style is focused on controlling the fight, while Paulo's style is focused on chaos, causing damage, and knocking out. Neither of them are great knockout artists; at least neither of them has demonstrated great knockout power, but I believe Paulo hits harder than Sean Strickland. In compensation, Sean defends better; it's very difficult to knock out a guy like Sean Strickland, but I believe the key for Paulo Costa to win is precisely not to play Sean's game, it's to dominate the space of the fight. Paulo is an aggressive fighter; he needs to be aggressive in this fight, he needs to impose pressure because from what I've noticed, Sean doesn't deal very well with pressure. He's good at pressuring, but he's not good at being pressured, like Cannonier did to him. Sean also doesn't kick much, which is good for Paulo Costa, who likes to box, just like Sean Strickland. Even fighting very technically, not even Adesanya managed to beat Sean. So, it's necessary to come with the intention of knocking him out and hurting him. Another issue is movement; staying still in front of Sean Strickland is not a good idea. Paulo needs to move more, make it difficult for Sean to hit him. Lastly, the variety of attacks. Paulo in his last fight added more jabs to his arsenal, so for this fight against Sean, surely both will throw many jabs. One tip would be, if possible, to look for clinch positions; don't let Sean Strickland dominate the center of the octagon, put him against the cage and cause damage there. In summary, it's a fight where Sean Strickland will probably win because he has superior fighting intelligence, but I believe Paulo has a good chance of winning this fight, 55/45.

If Uriah got stoked and knew he was the champ rather than feeling empathy for landing the best spinning back kick ever against Adam Cella, he may have been amongst the greatest to ever do it. No takeaway from Strickland’s crazy work ethic.

I you watch MMA striking (as exhibited by Hall here) from a pure boxing perspective, you wonder why MMA fighters never bother (with a few exceptions) to REALLY utilize boxing´s rich tool box. All that is mostly done is throw single shots, even a left hook completely isolated. Strickland does not like it when people string together punches and go from body to head and vice versa. He often times seems overwhelmed when fighters throw 3 or 4 Punch-Combinations. All that leaning back comes with a price and no one seems to exploit it. A good boxer does not just pot shot or walk forward, it´s very one dimensional. You guys seriously underrate boxing.

Its mostly because kicking and grappling change some aspects that boxing takes for granted. For instance, once someone gets close, the other person can tie them up, then wrestling and Muay thai rules apply instead. Or if they try to get in in the first place, one person might decide to keep the other out with teeps towards their midsection.

I just wish these full fights would simply list when the fights actually happened without me having to google UFC numbers for it, even if they actually state which UFC fight it was. Yeah I'm a casual, but I'm always left wondering how long ago these fights happened. It's not the end of the world, and yes, probably shows how many f's I give at that point but it would be nice just to mention in the description when the fight took place, that's all.
