If you want your child to have a religious education, send them to a religious school. If you want them to read the holy book of your choosing, read it to them. It's insane how those who boast about America being a ''free'' country want to shove their religion into everything.
The audacity of Logan's legal team is wild. He invited a news company to his house for an interview and then harassed them, what did you think would happen? I have to wonder just how much they get paid to try and clean up after his nonsense...
bro really thought using lawyers to threaten the BBC was a great idea. unfortunately just like the coffee investigation it'll likely lead to zero consequences cause politicians refuse to hunt crypto scammers other than that one dude (who I kinda suspect simply pissed off the wrong people)
Tbh us Brits feel exactly the same! The BBC are full of pedophiles who get away with their crimes (look up Hugh Edwards) I’d rather it wasn’t Logan because he’s not better but I can’t say I’m not glad that someone called them what they are
im genuinely laughing at the thought of logans layers threatening "outcomes" sounds like another word for we will sue you aka the bbc i CAN NOT WAIT to see the outcome of this if he does .... as a uk resident i dont think he realizes how much money the bbc has especially seeing as almost all of us have to pay a license to watch any live tv they have money! tho i will give them they aint wrong about the nonce issue imo bbc is disgusting for that especially the hue Edwards shit
I’m a Texas teacher, and I am so wildly annoyed that my state keeps trying to put Christianity in our curriculum. I’m a Christian myself, but not all of my students are - I’ve taught students who were Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Pagan, Atheist, and a couple other besides, and at no point in teaching the class did any of our faiths matter. In my mind, what matters is the content of the curriculum, and it is my job to teach it and their job to learn it. Faith is personal. It shouldn’t be my job to teach it.
Unfortunately, the Evangelist movement is fundamentally fanatical, and a dangerous fanaticism now lies at the heart of Christianity in this country. Fanaticism doesn't just go away by itself.
Pushing religion so hard on kids might have the opposite effect. I went to a Catholic school for both elementary and high school, and I saw most of my peers slowly stop caring about religion and God. Most would say they're Catholic, but they didn’t pray, go to church, or care about the Bible since it was shoved down our throats for years at that point
I mean, most of the people doing the pushing have probably never picked up a bible outside of a photo op, anyway. They just want to use it as a means of control.
On the other hand I grew up in a Christian school, am more Christian now than I was as a kid, most of my friends that went to Christian school are still Christian etc. American Catholicism however, does in fact seem to lead to a lot of atheism. Far more than any other religion. But also religion not being tends to also lead to lack of religion. Crazy, I know.
@Thromnabular that is where personal interaction with your faith is important. The problem is that Religion is supposed to be Barred from government and the public schools are a Facet of that system
"As a mom I can't stop thinking about this" "This could've been my daughter" I wish these politicians cared about all the victims of school shootings as much as they do about this one tragic murder.
@@annienewman8312 As an legal immigrant, yall are really defending this shit, who did you think that you would get when you opened up the country for invasion.
It's cause they care more about their guns than they do children. The only thing time they will show any type of care for the children is if an illegal immigrant is the shooter.
Being an immigrant does not make someone a murderer. Not even being an illegal immigrant makes someone a murderer. Murder makes someone a murderer. It is absurd this has to be clarified. EDIT: Because there's too many replies to be specific, I'll respond in general. As Phil said himself, the evidence shows that immigrants commit less crime than citizens do. If you arrive at the conclusion that we need to "crack down" on illegal immigrants because of this murderer, you are ignoring the evidence. You are having an emotional reaction that can cause harm to real people. I implore you to question why you're focusing on "immigrant" and not "murderer". I am a permanent resident, formerly undocumented immigrant, and soon-to-be a naturalized citizen of the US. For transparency, this is the bias I bring to the discussion. When people are not given an option to migrate legally, they will take their chances because the danger in their home country is worse than the challenges facing immigration in the US. Let's call this "the migrant's dilemma". When my family came to the US, there was not an option for us to become permanent residents. There was no transition path from visitor visa to permanent resident. There is still no transition path from visitor visa to permanent resident. There are policies that can encourage or discourage certain migrant behaviors, but the system, as it stands, ignores the migrant's dilemma. The US doesn't have an illegal immigrant problem. The US has an immigration *system* problem. There are emergent properties that come from this problem, which some stand to benefit from. Illegal immigrant labor is exploited by businesses. It's more affordable to operate on undocumented labor. Don't blame the immigrant for the hiring practices of American businesses. Because of the migrant's dilemma, they would rather work for pennies than face danger in their home country. Huge chunks of the US economy depend on undocumented labor: hotels, restaurants, construction, farms, custodial, and many more I'm forgetting. Mass deportation ignores the migrant's dilemma and harms immigrants. Vilification ignores the migrant's dilemma and harms immigrants. "They shouldn't be here" ignores the migrant's dilemma and harms immigrants. Laken Riley's murder is a tragedy. I am glad he's been removed from society. Illegal immigration is hardly relevant to the discussion. It's as relevant as contraception is ("If the murderer hadn't been born, then it wouldn't have happened in the first place!"). People exist where they exist. Circumstances brought them to be where they are. Our culture around safety, violence, mental health, and machismo is more relevant. Once again, if you are using this tragedy to justify harm towards immigrants, I implore you to question why you're focusing on "immigrant" and not "murderer".
It is absurd, even more so when the same folks pushing for this also don’t want to acknowledge severe issues with policing tactics and will claim “not all police are bad” when relevant.
I don't think being a part of a group automatically attributes you to do certain actions. However, illegal immigrants shouldn't be here to commit any actions to begin with. I say this as a legal immigrant.
Yeah, I hate all the rebrands that are just stripping out the character and uniqueness of all brands. Just making more things blend together. Plain. Boring.
I feel bad for the guy and his wife just trying to grab a lunch and be verbally and physically attacked. I don't care if you're from Palestine, Mars if you're white, black, blue.. so long as you're happy who gives a fuck. I genuinely could not imagine living life being so consumed and filled of hatred because of someone's preferences on same genders, where they're from, colour of skin etc. I'm in a interracial marriage and moved overseas a out 10 years ago. This story is one of many on why I don't plan on EVER going back to the US. I don't want my children subjected to the lunacy.
Politicizing the murder of a young woman is gross, period. I know damn well that none of those politicians thought about her for a second longer than they needed to.
What a sad reality we live in. If they couldn't give a shit about all the people hurt in all those mass shootings, I doubt they'd give a shit about her.
@@zFrostyyy No, they at least have some level of sympathy for her. I don’t think any of them cared one bit for George Floyd. All I remember was them defending the police officers saying the force was necessary to stop a criminal
Nobody cares? From either side. Laiken isn’t the only one. And yes Americans kill Americans. But it is a different hurt when it’s not even someone from here. Someone who should not have been here is responsible, and that’s not ok. Saying its crazy it was political or that its bad to note him being an illegal is weird. Its weird to argue that. No, you can’t be here illegally. Period. Her death was preventable, and it was because of bad policy. That’s owned by our politicians, that’s why it’s political.
“Freedom of Religion” also means freedom to not believe/practice a religion. Conservatives say that liberal policies are indoctrinating kids, then turn around and- who would have thought- INDOCTRINATE CHILDREN.
They're just angry that THEY're not the ones indoctrinating the children. They don't actually have a problem with indoctrinating the children. Just that they weren't the ones able to do it.
If you're concern with the Laken Riley case is that the assailant was an immigrant, it shows you aren't really concerned with women's safety, just your agenda.
Point is that the democrats allowed him in and she could of been saved if trump was voted in in 2020 instead of the man who got her unalived. Remove them, Save Women. It's really simple.
Or, just maybe, the fact they were an *illegal* migrant means the government didn't do its job to uphold the law, and she her death was a direct result. It's a fact that matters, because her case was easily avoidable if the Biden administration didn't stop Border Patrol from even doing background checks on people crossing illegally. This isn't an isolated incident, either. In just 2024 so far, illegal migrants have been responsible for 1100 cases of assault, 220 SAs, 29 murders, etc. These numbers grow every year, when these are some of the easiest crime stats to reduce.
Though unfortunately, that is not always the case. In my European home country, cases of SA against women have risen significantly since the refugee crisis of 2015 and there is a clear correlation with certain immigrant groups (namely young, muslim men from middle eastern or northern african countries). A lot of it can be chalked up to cultural clashes and lack of proper integration and while it should never be weaponised or used as a reason to deny refugees entry into safe countries, it unfortunately IS something that cannot simply be ignored. I was recently reminded of a crime statistic from a few years ago that was used to show that country nationals committed more crimes than foreigners (namely 55% vs. 45%) and celebrated as a "victory" by the left but... the numbers are really scary when you take into consideration that foreigners make up less than 15% of my country's population. So if 15% of people cause 45% of all crimes, that IS a number that cannot be ignored. It's hard to find the best measures for these things that take both, the safety of the population, but also the human rights of refugees and foreigners into account. Shutting out all refugees is wrong, but plainly accepting all of them is wrong, too. So far, neither side has really presented good points imo...
@@WindmelodieIreland? UK? France? Sweden? Or Germany? Most SAs are natives but the increase due to immigrants from a certain region is concerning & even though Most I've met have been good people. But I agree the cultural clashing is too much no country should have areas that is a high majority of people from origins outside the country. Bradford & Birmingham England & Malmo, Sweden is a good example of this.
The men from the whole "Your body, my choice" crowd only believe women are assaulted when the assailant is a brown person .Otherwise it's also, "What was she wearing. She was asking for it," or "He was a good guy, he probably just made a mistake."
I used to run on the same trails as Laken… we went to the same school, ran in the same parks, we were both in Greek life, and attended the same football games. It is TERRIFYING to think this could happen to anyone. That video is outside my apartment… THIS IS NOT AN IMMIGRANT ISSUE!!! This is a women’s safety issue. This could have been any man, legally American or not. If people looked past the political agenda, you’d see that Athens (similar to several other university towns) suffer from these horrifying attacks all the time. Fight to keep our streets safer for women, not fight to remove people fleeing from war torn and third world countries. My thoughts and prayers go out to Laken and her family ❤️🖤
I am a Texas teacher. My wife is a Texas teacher who is in a school that is piloting the Bluebonnet curriculum this year. She HATES it, but in her older elementary classroom her students are smart enough to question what is in the text and she is able to guide them to some of the truth the curriculum tries to hide in its history lessons. This curriculum has 0 room for any teacher input. No room for remediation for students who are behind. No room for enrichment for the kids who are ahead. It is 100% of the instructional minutes in the day just trying to get through the MOUNTAIN of text that they are forcing them to cover.
Jeez I 40 and struggled in school and for a while this system felt like that, you the slow one and lazy. While now they went to understand we aren't on all the same level but. It's going overboard by letting kids pass at at almost all cost but then they get chewed in highschool. But this is a Canadian experience.
As a Texan, I’m appalled that there is support for a curriculum that will intentionally make Texan children less educated. I genuinely don’t understand the push to put religion in schools, I thought separation of church and state was intended to protect *checks notes* churches
As a non Texan, I feel the need to tell you that you the rest of the country sees your state as Florida with dryer weather. 😂 Just making a joke, but for real that story is pretty is messed up.
I grew up in Texas, and I feel like we learned so much more actual history in the 90's than the kids do today, and that is 100% moving in the wrong direction.
its not that difficult to understand, a bunch of insane christian nationalists have taken over Texas an it might be too late to stop them, thats all there is to it
I feel so awful for Laken’s family, it would make me unimaginably angry to see politicians using my loved one’s tragic death as a puppet for some vapid political grudge (or just straight up racism)
I imagine the fact a man - who never should have been in the same country let alone the same campus - r4ped, beat, and murdered their child is more angering for them than anything else could ever be. They will spend the rest of their lives wishing that he wasn't able to kill their daughter, wondering how things might have turned out differently if he had never seen Riley that morning.
Glad to see Laken Riley's family get justice. But horrified to see this situation used as justification to use the military to round up people in our own country. Too many of my neighbors "fit the description" and do not deserve the harassment that is inevitably coming.
@@MalefaxTheBlack See, that's the thing. "Fitting the description" doesn't mean they are illegal immigrants. But regardless of their legal status, they will likely be subjected to heightened scrutiny and harassment as a result of some futile attempt to get rid of all the "illegals".

17:02 Hey, as someone who was forced to learn about (primarily) Christianity for my fifteen+ years? I can say that it did NOT increase my "cultural literacy" or whatever it is they're calling it. It instead made us all detest Christianity, and was just relearning the same stuff over and over and over again. It was awful, and it taught us nothing about Norwegian history; just that if you weren't Christian, you were a bad person. So I guess I can see why conservatives want it :/
The more kids indoctrinated into religion, the easier to oppress women, wage nationalist wars, breed like crazy and get free servants. Religion is just a device republicans use for control. I sincerely doubt one of them believes in any god other than themselves and their massive egos.
I learned so much more about other perspectives and became so much more empathetic after distancing myself from how the church told me to approach life.
So you agree, then, that pushing nonsense people don't give a fuck about just pushes them further and further away from supporting that thing, hmm? So now you can see why nobody voted for Kamala, yeah? 🤔
@BusinessSkrub Kamala spoke about things people cared passionately about that helped everyone and people who cared voted for her. Everyone would have been better off - had they heard her message instead of it filtered through three layers of Fox misinformation. I've seen so many Trump supporters interviewed and each of them only cares about themselves in the most short sighted way, and none of them has enough braincells to understand that voting for a facist dictator will not actually help them. They'll apparentky have to figure that out the hard way since they aren't able to follow basic logic to its conclusion.
As a Native American citizen, the religious indoctrination that has been enforced since the late 15th century is not native to this country or continent. It was brought over here and forced on the people that live here. Calling religion "a key part of being American" is leaving out a huge part of what "American" really is. Are the immigrants from Europe considered American for stealing land and committing acts of genocide? Or is supposed to be the freedom of choice? I still to this day have to hear Christian prayers in my native language which is not how you preserve culture and heritage. If you want your religion taught to your children, act a like an actual parent and teach them yourselves. Or do it at your tax free "house of worship." Don't pawn it off on the tax paid public school system.
Well said! If you dont mind me asking, what has it been like growing up as a Native American in the states? There is so much media buzz around African Americans but I find that Native American issues/triumphs just dont breach the information sphere, at the very least globally.
The history of America definitely points out what Christianity means to many of it's followers here.🖤💙 I know, or am aware of, so many Americans who think the genocide and slavery of the early years was just their god 'manifesting destiny' for the greater good.😑 It's difficult to deprogram the indoctrination, i'm hoping there are enough people with common sense and critical thinking abilities here to stave off a psuedo-religious, paternal, provincial oligarchy..:::🤞🙏🌏🕯🍃
The ironic thing is that the religion was forced on us Europeans as well. The Nordic people had our own religion that got pushed out with violence and then through the new religion we were manipulated to do the same thing to others. Disgusting.
Absolutely. Some Americans love to tote their nationality while denying others (migrants, descendants of migrants) of theirs. Citizenship is decided by where your parents were born, NOT by ethnicity. The only “American” ethnicity belongs to indigenous, aboriginal, and Native peoples.
Sen Katie Britt almost popped a vessel with how hard she was trying to force some emotion out. Its wild to see how Republicans will latch on to any example to say its the norm while ignoring all the horror they directly cause. Misrepresent and misconstrue in order to manipulate those whos anger can be exploited.
Right? It sounded like she was constipated... Also Trump calling Laken "our beloved" 🤮 He didn't even know her!! They don't care about this girl. If she had been murdered by a home grown white boy, they wouldn't even know her name.
"When I think about this boy, I think about my own kids," "My main message is to the parents of Trayvon Martin. You know, if I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon," Obama said. Yeah lets not pretend only one side does this. both sides use victims of crimes/disasters etc to push their political agendas.
Either party would have done it though. It's just politicians continuing to be a joke. Looking for public outrage and provide zero answers and plans to help improve anything.
Fake upset. Yea. Im fake upset that an undocumented illegal killed an innocent! Dont mind me, being on my way to push such a terrible agenda (breaking the law is NOT OK, illegal entry is A CRIME no matter how fkd our system is for naturalization) Oh and men are men, women are women, and maybe 1% of people have legitimate gender dysphoria (not a brainrot twitter diagnosis). The common sense pushback is now.
Yep. Women in this country are routinely assaulted by u.s. citizens and cases regarding stalking, sex crimes and anything short of murder? The sentencing is a JOKE.

As a Christian who grew up in and studied Texas Education, No. No. No. No. Look at how many Christian denominations there are with vastly different interpretations. You will find Christian private schools that all teach very different things. If I don’t want my kid in a catholic Sunday school class, I promise you I don’t want them being taught the beliefs of the teacher right next to her teaching them math. And that’s within my OWN religious beliefs. If you want your children to learn the Ten Commandments and have a classroom education of the Bible, get up an hour earlier and go to your church’s Sunday School classes. Or, God forbid, teach your children yourself.
Many churches in the south also have a youth group that teaches Bible and does fun activities for kids and young adults at night on Wednesday, they can get two days out of the week for their evangelical Christianity already it doesn’t need to be in school
This such a weird take. It’s apart of the victims statement which family members are allowed to use in court. The step dad was allowed to read from his step daughter’s diary because her family was okay with it. And yes items like dairies go back to the victim’s family which in this case is also the step dad.
@Toccata. and I find it a weird take that an item that most people deem deeply personal in life suddenly become a family heirloom readily available to your whole family in death But you're right, I'm the one that's off their rocker 👍
I’m so mad about the Jaguar rebrand. As someone majoring in graphic design, I get so sick when a company with unique design switches to “modern and sleek”. Everyone is looking alike nowadays and it makes me mad.
@ryanclemons1 how would that be worse? AI might have made something good. This is just terrible lol. I used to love jaguars. I really hope they backpedal on this cause it's really not it. I don't understand why they'd take such risks with their brand recognition. If they want to sell more cars than they should make more models and market the cars, not a pointless rebrand.
I'm a graphic designer. I feel like if I presented this to a client, they'd absolutely accuse me of phoning it in. Boring does not equate to "sleek". Less is unequivocally not always more. I think Jaquar has always been an elitist car which I've always judged people negatively for. Now.. it's just an old company trying to hold on to its prior glory days.
What a tragedy that a young woman's legacy is the persecution and uprooting of lives of an entire group of people in this country. Using her death in this way is an insult to her memory. My heart goes out to her loved ones.
The tragedy is that she’d not be dead at all if we’d had actual border security and not what we had these last almost four years…and she’s just one of many.
The man shouldn’t have been here to begin with. An entire group of people in this country that entered illegally, let in with unprecedented numbers than ever before under Biden. You dismissing her death as a tragedy that could have never been prevented is an insult to her memory, and this women would likely have died for nothing given the way democrats don’t care about illegals killing American citizens, of all creeds. We can barely control what our population does, but we can at least control the waves of unchecked, illegal immigration and get these folks out of here.
Absolutely revolting. It truly shows the pervasive nature of the language and rhetoric utilized by these politicians. How is it that the only thing people seem to take out of this that the criminal was an "illegal" migrant? Is crime unique to foreigners? How many died that same day on the streets of any major metropolis in the country, no one batting an eye to it? The only common denominator between these two scenario is that crime still happens in the country against vulnerable women, yet you won't see such headlines anywhere. It's deplorable. May she rest in peace and may her family have the insight to see through the perversion behind the media narrative her death has amassed.
@@MalefaxTheBlackDo you realize illegal immigration increased under Trump? Do you care about numbers at all or do you just go off with fives and what your betters tell you? Because it seems abundantly clear that you don't care about facts, you only care about what agrees with your preconceived biases already. So don't make absolute statements like you just did when you have no idea if that would happen. That's like saying, if only we genetically removed all of the murder gene so that nobody would grow up to be a murderer. Like, how are you going to do that? And how is that a reasonable solution to the problem? Unless you legitimately want the United States to just be North Korea, where it's impossible to get in or out of the country for any reason. But then again, you guys do worship people like Kim Jong-un, Putin and dictators like that. So maybe that is what you want.
i was raised in a christian school until i dropped out in 9th grade, it is almost as bad as not getting an education in the first place. having bible verses in my science textbooks, history started with adam and eve, all taught literally. the flood actually killed the dinosaurs and we didn’t go to space bc space isn’t even real. teachers were given free reign to teach whatever they believed to be fact. my teacher in 6th grade told us secret service agents actually accidentally shot kennedy as a fun fact of the day. i had a class on how to dress modestly in 5th grade. i was 10-11. they were raising me to be the perfect homemaker for a future husband first, and teaching me the rest of my life skills second.
to be fair teaching life skills is usually like number 6 on the priority list so they got at least that benefit. this is a terrible joke so I'll walk myself out
Uhh... " teachers were given free reign to teach whatever they believed to be fact." I don't think you understand what a Christian school is - you've never really been to one. I'm sorry the modesty and social training didn't stick, rest in power.
So sorry you had to go through that! That’s awful! I feel like if they’re going to force religion on kids, it’s either all of them or none. I also can’t believe that people don’t see this as the grooming that it is.
Even as a Christian. I don't agree with a Christian focused curriculum. Ethics and separation of church and state aside. We need to focus on the basics. Math, English, Science, ect.
Not just that, but being taught theology or religion by someone of a different faith or no faith tends to muddy the waters. So not only would schools have to deal with adding religion to the curriculum but families would have to deal with weeding out certain teachings they don’t agree with. I mean, which denomination of Christianity would they even teach? Because it sounds like they’ll just be pointing to Jesus as a moral teacher, not God and Savior, in which case it’s not even Christianity…it’s a form of moralistic therapeutic deism with Jesus as mascot.
I think people are blowing this out of proportion. It has Christian elements, which you can call problematic. But it's not "focused" on Christianity, some go as far as to claim this is indoctrination. At best it's subliminal messaging and inappropriate referencing, anything beyond that is reactionary
Also Art and other non-STEM classes. We focus way too much on just STEM and it’s one of the reasons we as a society are lacking critical thinking skills.
I’m happy the murderer is being punished so harshly, but I am very upset by the political turn of all of this. Illegal Immigrants are statistically less likely to commit crimes. This one persons’ horrific murder is not happening in a vacuum where no one else murders. It’s sad that this has been made into the political circus it has been. He deserves what he’s getting for his crime, all illegal immigrants do not deserve to be blamed.

Okay y'all. I'm a Christian. I love God. That's me, that's my faith. It is up to you what you believe and what you teach your children about your unique beliefs. My children are not believers. I love them and respect their right to freely believe or not believe. I don't think religion has a place in public schools. Especially when you are picking to teach an unique to one people's beliefs. Teach them to love, to be good citizens and to treat each other fairly with respect. There is that separation for a very good number of reasons. Leave religion in the hands of the parents. We all worship or not, by our own beliefs. The state should leave that alone.
The problem is you pick and choose which aspects of Christianity you want to follow/believe, which is antithetical to the purpose of Christianity in the first place. Christianity advocates the spread of gospel because ignorance is not an excuse nor substitute for eternal damnation. And if eternal domination is the value at stake here, you not only *should* want Christianity in schools, but you should be screaming it out on top of your lungs. I went to an australian christian high school, even then we learnt about multiple religions and got tests/assignments about other religions, the idea that american public schools are only teaching one religion is absolutely insane
I went to a Church of England school and we had Religious Studies lessons where we learned about all the other religions respectfully. A lot about America seems very cult-like.
They probably thought christianity is required for good morals and ethics. In my country I had 9 years on catholicism, 3 years on 5 other religions including catholicism, all in the same catholic school. But we also had morality and character building as a different school subject in primary. If the american govt wants to add a new subject, they could've just added ethics or something
Went to a Catholic elementary school, public high school, and Jesuit college in the US. In elementary learned about Greek mythology, some Native American practices (more about building techniques but also some about how they view nature vs Europeans) about Judaism (especially before learning about the holocaust) and a little about the formation of Islam. High school read the Odessy and in Philosophy we had a “rational of religion” unit where we debated if religion (all religion not a specific one) could be rational. Otherwise don’t remember anything explicitly religious just the books we read typically had a Christian protagonist (Hamlet, Jane Eyre, Their Eyes were Watching God, Great Gatsby, etc) College I had a lot more freedom so my experience wasn’t universal. 2 tiers of theology were required. I too intro to Christianity for my tier 1 (better times than world religions) and Hinduism for my tier 2 (my Hindi friend was frustrated by the lack of depth but it was a semester class and it has a large history). Beyond that, I had a philosophy minor so took Chinese, African, and Islamic philosophy which all touched on the religion of that region. As a science major, I do remember one girl in my class questioning how a gen chem professor could be Catholic and believe in evolution. I told this to a friend to find out that she also believed in creationism. This of course wasn’t a lesson that was being taught just student chatter and neither was saying genesis needs to be taught just that they believe that theory instead. So, not everywhere in the US insists on Bible needs to be taught and only Bible for everyone (That convo with the creationist friend was pretty interesting. She said that the odds that everything happened through evolution are extremely rare so she doesn’t believe it and I said “that’s the part where god comes in. Chicken evolved despite the odds into a chicken because god wanted it to, but if you deny evolution then that means god just randomly put in the earth the bones of evolutionary ancestors just to mess with us” which I can 100% get behind but that would make god not wholly good which Christians demand must be true)
What's even stranger that the Christian _private_ school I went to a few States over never came close to be this overbearing about incorporating religion into the education. Sure, we had a Bible class, but the school was far more focused on getting all the kids into colleges/universities.

Murder happens everywhere in the United States. The fact that it happens once or twice by folks who are here illegally and THAT causes hysteria is a joke.
Didn't original Americans came to America because they were NOT allowed to follow their religious beliefs (among other reasons). Also didn't the original constitution have it explicitly state a given right to freedom of religion? And therefore straying from that is the most anti-"american" action you can commit? I don't understand these change and their "american" standards, is it not illogical

Perfectly put, it was so disingenuous I couldn’t watch it. Now because cops can’t do anything to stop any crime ever, they’ll try to preemptively target specific groups of people while crime will still continue to happen(if not increase because they’ll blame those groups for all crime).
The deal with the Bible-infused learning: So, the school districts were basically told, if you do this thing (include the curriculum) you'll get more money. If not, the schools who do: will, and you will have to do without. That's textbook coercion, and illegal.
@@wdviolet8434 How about extortion? Because thats what it is and in a lot of states and with any federal funds it is illegal. But then again, when has legality really mattered to a policy/law maker?
I grew up with Religion in public school in Idaho (graduated '04) as the minority religion in the area. I can say from experience that forcing religion into schools does not make for a great experience for those of us not part of the majority, or the focus of those "lessons". It's not simply the teaching of beliefs contrary to our own that's are a problem, but the fact those "teachings" can be used as a hammer against those that go against the grain, not to mention how the kids will treat other students that "aren't like them" with the adults that should be guiding them instead backing them, or encouraging them, without knowing better. Instead of fostering an environment more suitable for all children, to give them the tools to make their own *informed* decisions, this direction will only cause more division and harm.

As someone who went to a private catholic school for three years, raised Christian not catholic and identified as atheist, I spent my middle school years hating everything. I did not want to learn about the bible, or Jesus. The school focused on religion so much, that when I transitioned back to public school for high school, I was behind on so many subjects. Each Friday morning was spent at mass for three hours. Teaching religion and solely focusing on how to incorporate it into math, English, or history when a child is not interested will not make them smarter, it will make them more disruptive, angry, depressed, and prone to learning and emotional delays.
Regarding the "Christian " education in Texas, it's ridiculous! As a Texan and Christian, I ask, of the hundreds of Christian sects, which are we talking about? Methodist? Southern Baptist? Baptist? Church of Christ? Which one? If you want religious schools no problem, it's called Sunday school! Texas has a multitude of different people from all over the world from multiple religious backgrounds. Public education should be secular!

As a Christian, I don't want just some random teaching my kiddo about our religion. The issue is that "Christian" is a broad umbrella. We don't all believe exactly the same or pray the same ways. Religion topics need to be taught at home.

I value education and history especially, and using the bible to dance around and or even justify parts of American history like slavery or even misinterpret Civil rights is just disgusting. - A christian that has faith but isn’t ignorant 😕
Religious organizations should start to pay taxes. At this point all they do is complain about things and blame others. Maybe being apart of the solution by supporting your communities is your next contribution.
Because most people don't pay attention to small public office elections. These crazy people have organized and ran unopposed in many cases and now they are pushing their own agenda. We need to pay attention and participate in our local community more 😢
Pretty much, yeah. So many freaks believe that the reason the country is failing is because of a lack of "moral teachings" in school (moral being equal to Christian in their brains). In actuality, the failure of the education system is due to a combination of factors, none of which are religious.
It's approved because stupid people have voted Christian nationalists into positions of power that believe this is a Christian nation when it's very clearly not.

Christian nationalism is un-American and unacceptable in a free country. Your freedom to practice your religion is not freedom to force your religion on others.
@ I am speaking more broadly to what Christian nationalism is currently trying to do because this is definitely a part of that. This particular case is technically “optional” but financially punishing schools for not using the curriculum is… problematic to say the very fucking least for the separation of religion and government. And if the school does choose this curriculum, then yes, the Bible would be forced on children. If you’re a Christian and the idea of giving your religion even more power sounds fun, picture the same scenario but with another religions holy book. Would you have a problem with your school forcing your children to read the Quran or the Satanic Bible?
Then you must have plugged your ears when Phil explained that the schools that adopted this curriculum would also receive a bonus per student, which creates a heavy incentive to public schools to adopt it just for that. Come on, think a little harder about it, why don't cha?
@@Snowman1875 I don't understand why the heavy religious are so obsessed with Bible teaching in public schools. No offense, but the Bible is not going to teach kids how to do math.

My mother was a history teacher for nine years in Texas before transitioning to an admin role. My sister is an English teacher in Texas. We are all Christian, raised Catholic. The Bible making its way into the classroom will only be bad for our students. The majority of these kids can’t read on level, and we expect them to decipher old-fashioned language like the Bible? We expect teachers to take time out of making children literate to preach? The only way this could be useful is looking purely through a historical lens of “how did the world they lived in shape the writing of the Bible”. This is not what is being proposed. The proposed ‘education’ is taking advantage of the fact that Abbott has underfunded public schools for years in an effort to get his voucher program off the ground. Every teacher and parent I know, Christians included, realizes how ridiculous this legislation is.
You're forgetting two key facts though. 1) This will serve to indoctrinate kids early and possibly lead to some of them converting. and more importantly (to the Republicans) B) In Trump's own words "I love the poorly educated." Uneducated people are the ones *FAR* more likely to vote Republican. They *want* people to be dumb. It's the only way they ever get elected. This is why they're always trying to cut education. What you said isn't a bug, it's a feature.

What are some ways they are forcing it into school? This sounds horrible
You can only use a control mechanism until it shows itself as a control mechanism
At this point the quickest way to assure a kid grows up to be an atheist is to send them to catholic school lol

Once again, if you are using this tragedy to justify harm towards immigrants, I implore you to question why you're focusing on "immigrant" and not "murderer".
this, for some reason when its some minority group its always blamed on the group, but if they are white or christian its the individual.

It's not an immigrant issue, except the murderer was an illegal immigrant that should not have been in the country.
@@cyborgratwhat does your Canadian experience have to do with anything.
Just making a joke, but for real that story is pretty is messed up.
I grew up in Texas, and I feel like we learned so much more actual history in the 90's than the kids do today, and that is 100% moving in the wrong direction.
As a Canadian..... this is 100% on par what the world expects of Texas

I imagine the fact a man - who never should have been in the same country let alone the same campus - r4ped, beat, and murdered their child is more angering for them than anything else could ever be.
@@BusinessSkrub did it hurt when you reached that far? What an apples to oranges comparison.

The ironic thing is that the religion was forced on us Europeans as well. The Nordic people had our own religion that got pushed out with violence and then through the new religion we were manipulated to do the same thing to others. Disgusting.

Even as a Christian. I don't agree with a Christian focused curriculum. Ethics and separation of church and state aside. We need to focus on the basics. Math, English, Science, ect.
Don’t forget punctuation, that one is important to learn.

Otherwise don’t remember anything explicitly religious just the books we read typically had a Christian protagonist (Hamlet, Jane Eyre, Their Eyes were Watching God, Great Gatsby, etc)
College I had a lot more freedom so my experience wasn’t universal. So, not everywhere in the US insists on Bible needs to be taught and only Bible for everyone
(That convo with the creationist friend was pretty interesting.

And therefore straying from that is the most anti-"american" action you can commit? I don't understand these change and their "american" standards, is it not illogical

Couldn't we just call it, "Critical Religious Theory" which would keep it far away from schools?
Haha! That's so funny dude, maybe one of the women you like will pretend you exist now. Twitter feminist lmfao

I’m a Christian and I’m truly against this indoctrination. Imagine how confusing it will be to children to have religion sprinkled throughout your science lesson? Huh?
That lady that assaulted the Palestinian guy was not accused of assault?!?!?!
Their is a bigger question with that story
Battery is different from assault, what she did was lay hands so it’s battery.
That said, currently hate crimes are still a thing in America so maybe they’re going with the thing that’ll get her more time. Otherwise she’d be punished the same as a Karen who flips out in a store.
@ but is this not a hate crime?
I haven't watched that story yet, but if what the other commenter says is true then battery charges are the same as an assault charge.
I believe it's battery if you get physical and assault if it's the threat of getting physical
As a Christian, I don't want just some random teaching my kiddo about our religion. The issue is that "Christian" is a broad umbrella. We don't all believe exactly the same or pray the same ways.
Religion topics need to be taught at home.
EXACTLY!! As a Black Christian I fear this will be used to push misinformation and hinder actual learning.

14:43 so are we just completely throwing separation of church and state out the window? How is this curriculum approved?!
In actuality, the failure of the education system is due to a combination of factors, none of which are religious.
they don't care about the law when it stops them from doing what they want.
It's approved because stupid people have voted Christian nationalists into positions of power that believe this is a Christian nation when it's very clearly not.
I do not mean to be dramatic but I am scared for the future of our democracy and country. They are cheating and lying to gain power and then ignoring laws as needed to push traditional/personal values. Just in this case it happens to be about religion.

the way these right wing racists are using laken riley's death as a talking point is fucking disgusting. so often you see arguments against true crime as a thing because it can be exploitative or not respect victims etc. but this is SO MUCH WORSE. this poor woman was murdered so violently, we know she fought back from the marks he has. idk her political perspectives but i dont need to. she was a WHOLE PERSON. not a talking point. it makes me feel sick.

Christian nationalism is un-American and unacceptable in a free country. Your freedom to practice your religion is not freedom to force your religion on others.
I must have missed the part of the story where it was being forced on anyone

What happened to Laken Riley was beyond horrible, I cannot dispute that, the person who did this did not do it because he was illegal. He did it because he's a monster. Plain and simple. I've lived in this amazing country for more than 20 years, and I'm now afraid to tell people I'm not American.
The issue with democrats is that they admit the person should not have been here but do nothing about it. If it were up to them many innocent women would die for nothing, and hopefully we can prevent more Laken Riley’s and Jocelyn Nungarays from occurring. We can do something about those entering illegally, this is something we can prevent and regulate, even if we can’t control our own population very well, we can’t fail the citizens already in this country by ignoring illegal immigration and allowing these folks to roam around unchecked, without being vetted.
but if he never was let lose into the country he couldn't have killed her.

Love coming here for my news. Phil makes the world falling apart easily digestible and entertaining all in one fell swoop. Bro is the goat for real, thanks unc.
Mehh The gideons copy was free soooo
You're forgetting two key facts though.
