This song just about brings me to tears. It doesn't sound spiteful to me - it sounds really, painfully tragic. Every time she gets to the line "another way to leave the garden of Eden" I just about break down. She sounds done, yeah... but hurt and desperate, too.
What does that mean - the garden of Eden “ is this song about a relationship that jsut can’t workout - either because it’s run it’s course ? Or because they just can’t be together anymore - because both persons are in a different life with another partner ?
This is a grown up Metric. Their jams are tricky to get, because at first they sound like old Metric. At first they sound like "Gold, Guns, Girls". But this is something way better. This is something that has a story... and when you just let go and listen, you can hear it.
Who else thought of IOU at the line "the more we accelerate"??? It made wanna cry. There are so many connections to their previous albums on this album, it's giving me serious nostalgia. This album is a masterpiece! ♥

Metric has been delivering consistent quality albums for over 2 decades, not many bands who achieved something like that, yet they remain relatively unknown. they should be absolutely huge if the world was ok.
This is helping me through my break up (in a LDR) so much. It was a risk indeed. We lived in separate countries. It was nothing but false promises on his end. We started strong, then we lost faith. We started to lose control the more we accelerated the relationship. His kisses may have been borrowed, but I would definitely love to return them. "Are the words we say to be believed?" I don't know. My words were sincere on my end. I can't speak for him. I'm definitely "over the thrill of pursuit." I wish I can go back and not risk it with him. He can risk it with other people. And I'm definitely inclined to "leave the Garden of Eden" and in the meantime, I'll "find some daylight". I can't hide in this sadness and anger anymore. Metric, thank you for being there for me in good and bad times ever since I was 13. 💖
As far as I can tell, Appaloosa Bones isn't only the best Gregory Alan Isakov record, it's one of the best ever. Period. Tonality, timing, lyrics, album art, I'm sure I could go on. Amazing record. 💥 🍻
