Inconmensurable.
This selection was recorded in the late 1950's. It was Pagliacci with Mario Del Monaco, Gabriella Tucci, and Cornell MacNeil. This was the first opera recording I remember hearing. This recording has been in my family for as long as I can remember. Mario Del Monaco was and is one my Dad's and my favorite tenors ever.
Hey "ziropera" -you have the best quality Del Monaco clips I have seen on youtube. Thank you for the uploads. They are visually great and they sound great as well.

A recording of Mario Del Monaco singing this aria was in The Untouchables but not this particular rendition. Mario Del Monaco recorded another Pagliacci several years earlier and that is the rendition we hear in The Untouchables.
This particular recording of Pagliacci has been in my family before I was born and I still own it to this day. As far as Del Monaco being the best Canio, yes. Totally agree. I own Pagliacci recordings with other great tenors as well, Corelli, Gigli, Di Stefano.

Sometimes, when I practice and I feel in good form, I like to imitate del Monaco's pathos - but of course, hoping no one sees me. Also, I do take lessons sometimes with a baritone that studied with del Monaco - Mauro Augustini, if you heard of him. And one thing they say about del Monaco was that he was too loud and he had no technique, but I find that wrong: I heard many recordings with him doing dynamics and singing piano. Del Monaco ERA Canio in tutta la sua drammaticità!
Anche se adopera il play back è sempre commovente vederlo.

Hello ! Braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaavissimo
This is my favorite of this Aria. I love his emotional delivery and powerful voice. Close second is Placido Domingo at the 1992 3 tenors performance.
You were doing well till you mentioned Domingo as second best to del Monaco’s version of this aria, not a snowballs chance in hell
Just try Franco Corelli.
@@amantedellopera1681 BULLSHIT.
In your dreams…Second would be Jon Vickers or Corelli
From the first note Del Monaco owns this Aria others sing it very good but the depth and colour of his rendition are unsurpassed
