- 2018 Boheme Opera NJ production of I Pagliacci -
Vesti La Giubba sung by Tenor Errin Brooks
with Boheme Opera Orchestra conducted by Joseph Pucciatti.
Stage Director Matthew Haney. Performed at the College of New Jersey Kendall Hall 4/22/18
The fact that they added actual subtitles to the live show itself was actually a brilliant idea and I don't know why more operas don't do that. The biggest complaint about operas is being dragged to one you don't understand and being bored as a result of being basically left out. Imagine how quickly something like this would fix that if it were more common.
I don't think I've ever been to a professional company opera without subtitles . Some amateur companies can't afford it unfortunately
@@raphaelhudson Believe it or not it's far less common than you'd think. I'd say considering most of the shows you saw had them, you were very lucky 😉
It's called supertitles and it's common for operas to have them.
Like everyone else is telling you, supertitles are not some novel idea. They've been using them since the 90s.
Every opera I’ve been to has had one
I was browsing around looking for performances of “Vesti La Giubba” when I came across this. Holy smokes. Tenor Errin Brooks’ voice and emoting pound the heartache, self pity and grief out of this classic. Wonderfully done.
I honestly thought this was a Pavarotti dub for a little bit. This guy is incredible
I do the same ....always looking for the best Version of this song...
So far in 10 yrs of searching
Roberto Alagna's is the Best
Having said that ...this version is amazingly captivating and heart felt
@@judgedredd3568Vim aqui te agradecer, pois nunca tinha visto a versão de Roberto Alagna. Acabei de assistir e depois do Pavarotti foi o único que me fez chorar .. obrigado .
I just saw him live tonight, he sang with my mom’s choir as a soloist and I was blown away.
He’s unusually magnificent, this is the voice I hope to hear but never get 😂🙏🏻😂
He’s really phenomenal , he projects so well too.
He’s won a Grammy, and he’s really gonna be BIG, he has just a spectacular instrument.
He’s also very kind, gentle and humble seeming.
He took time to shake hands and say thank you for being there etc.
Lovely, I’ll never miss a chance to see him live if I get to again.
@@ball_soupand he’s at the Met now!
Vocal priorities in exactly the right place all the way through. A great performance from a great performer.
The second best performance after Pavarotti. Well done, I ve got tears in my eyes
I know it's live but, wow, this guy deserved better sound quality...WHAT a talent!
The live sound at the performance was excellent. However, the video recording was not very good. It costs money to have a good quality recorded performance . Although we are a quality company, we are not a very rich company. How about a donation so we can have a great recording ?
He’s great
I saw him tonight
And I understand that the arts are severely underrepresented and underfunded in the US.
It’s a tragedy.
And live is great, I would agree, he couldn’t sound bad if he tried…and if you don’t get to see things live I guess having a recording is better than nothing.
It’s so expensive.
Fundraising is so so crucial
The casting away of the costume, the clapping, the performance, it's all impeccable. Thank you
Nice voice, right for this role.
Your italian is good.
Bravo.
This mans emotions fuck I can feel them. Whoever he is I hope his talent is recognized by all.
Eccellente! Così bello! Io, come italiano, sono orgoglioso di ascoltare un'opera non italiana cantare così bene!
A modern, true dramatic tenor. Finally!
2:18 He delivered this part so beautifully and amazing! I like it, very nice. 👌
You should listen to old opera singers like Mario del Monaco, Franco Corelli, Beniamino Gigli, Caruso etc. I think you will change your mind about what is good opera singing and what is
mediocrity. Just listen like they sing for examle Vesti la Guibba. You can even find the whole Pagliacci live recording with Mario del Monaco on RUclips
@@NaibAlgoyev Mario Lanza did this aria the best.
Yes he did!
@@NaibAlgoyev This guy did a very good job and certainly not mediocre. Del Monaco is fun and often spectacular but he also made many bad recordings with bad acting though I forgive him a lot because I like his voice and personality a lot. He would look pretty ridiculous if he were singing today though.

Enorme sbaglio.
O tempora o mores

52 years been listening to this aria Great Job!!!
I’m left in tears!!!
Beautiful rendition. The way he drops to his knees while singing really emphasized the pain he's feeling.
good performances of this song never fail to bring me to tears. he killed it.
CHILLS
This man just made tears spray out of my eyeballs.
Wonderful, thank you !
Wow made me tear up a bit!
I'm Brazilian and I love classical music and operas, my grandparents are Europeans. That voice is just wonderful!
What a voice!
Unbelievable performance. Wow. He really seemed broken in the end
A truly powerful performance! Not just with the voice but the emotions felt behind every word sung. Magnifico!!!
Thank you.
Thank you 😊

This voice is truly fit for this song, and the legacy it holds behind it.
Kudos to him~.👍
very beautiful. Excellent.
a truly amazing performance! Bravissimo!!!!!!!!!
Goosebumps, so much emotion, wonderful performance.
Wow just wow. I have no words for how he performed the aria note so beautifully. I love singing opera music it’s just difficult I’ve never been shown how and I have asthma as well. This guy is going places!

Amazing rendition 😮
oh he is fabulous!
Magnificent!!!
Surprisingly good! Well done, i liked it!
Such an exquisite voice. This tenor deserves a better acoustical environment. My favorite to date is Mario, but this man is tremendous.
mario for me, too
Which Mario?? There are two: Lanza and Del Monaco.
And BOTH are the best I've ever heard. I personally lean slightly towards Del Monaco. 🤷🏾♂️
Lanza@@wadewilson8011
oh my god! so gorgeous.
Amazing...
The voice on that guy. Amazing!!!
Awesome!!!

What a great voice. Keep working, brother and take care of that instrument.
RIGHT?!?
I always look at singers with voices like this and think it’s no joke talking too loud, or pushing it.
To have such a gift…one must be very precious with it!
Bravo!
excellent
Simplemente Hermoso hermoso.
Fantastico.
Bravo, greetings form Portugal, keep it on your art
Bellissima interpretazione , bravissimo

Fuck yeah! Props to this entire production and Mr. Brooks!!!
BRAVO, BRAVO
I saw Erin brooks play Tristan last year, he was quite good.
Wish the sound quality was better on this clip - that is a fantastic voice and a tremendous performance. I will definitely seek out more by this guy.
This is the version I am looking for
Look at "Robert Alagna" Or "Placido Domingo's" version on "Vesti La Giubba".

This sounds almost like I'm there in the audience, very nice!
Oh wow, that voice
This is a very close second.. WOW
The way He leaves you in a dilemma of saying He won't hit the high pagliaccò🙏😮💨💛
1:11 This is the beginning of a moment that most opera performers would die to finally get to perform. This is basically the "Thriller" of opera songs in that if you don't know this opera, you've still definitely heard THIS part somewhere.
Extraordinario desempeño, gran voz, pesada, dramática, perfecta para esta magnífica aria.
Extraordinario 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Очень здорово!!
Jesus... I felt that.
Sublime! Debería estar junto a los cantantes de opera famosos mundialmente!
Wow!
Ridi, Pagliaccio, sul tuo amore infranto 😢
Come on, Errin!!!!
WHAT. AN. INSTRUMENT!!!!!! Bravo

Dmytro Nazarkov I’m very aware of who those singers are.... I can appreciate the art form for what it is now though. I don’t need the gatekeepers of the opera world telling me what is good and what I should listen to. Opinions like this are the reason why the art form is dying. Sure, I love those singers and I listen to them A LOT however they are an anomaly. Nobody will ever be them ever again. If you’re not aware is also a big difference between an INSTRUMENT(voice) which is what I was talking about and technical mastery. Something that Monaco, Corelli, and Giacomini OWNED but SOMETIMES I WOULD JUST LIKE TO HEAR UP AND COMING SINGERS. That’s it. That’s all I was doing and I thought I’d share a positive comment because I feel positively about his performance.
@@shanetucker7031 Thank you for this comment. People like Dmytro Nazarkov drive me crazy; if you cannot find beauty in today's classical singing and you need to constantly put forward ghosts from the past (however great they were) I think you are not an actual opera lover. I hope in 50 years or so they will be gone.
@@NaibAlgoyev I've you copy-paste this multiple times across multiple comments. What is your deal lmao
@@shanetucker7031 The art is dying because people like you are accepting bad singing instead of demanding quality.
strong drama bravo!
Bravo 👍
I'm not the most operatic but this man delivered that very well.
