I think that in the intro to this aria, he looks and sounds vicious like a wolf. And i think it fits the role perfectly. Just excellent.
I think he’s not only a great singer, he’s a great actor & stays in character even when in concert.

Not really. His voice is dark but not agile enough.
I heard him sing this live a few weeks ago at Royal Festival Hall and it felt like everyone in the hall was holding their breath, just caught up in moment. To me as someone who is just learning the world of opera he has a voice that can be so pure in the lieder and yet so powerful in this, like an amazing bottle of red wine, so many different flavour notes, such richness all combining to make a smooth pure moment of enjoyment to take time and savour.
Anyone who can sing like that has my vote - his voice truly is a gift from God. Just wonderful to see this sort of talent in my lifetime. Thanks for posting!

Find me a contemporary male singer that sounds anything close to as pleasant to listen to as a great classical singer - it's nothing but croaking and squeezing. This is pure splendour
He speaks Italian perfectly…. And obviously he has a Stunning voice
My first exposure to Jonas was his role as Sigmund in the 2011 Met production of the Ring Cycle. I loved him in that production and this aria just deepens that for me.

Normal, this depends more than good genetics, and a particular colour of voice. With a good ears and vocal training this will be posible

Com certeza, este timbre abaritonado - parecido com o de Jon Vickers - é espontâneo, natural em Kauffmann, senão ele não conseguiria cantar tão bem e com facilidade nos agudos. Parabéns, sucesso merecido!
He did a fabulous job, but ! Luciano had that true emotion, he felt it all so differently then most.
Luciano cannot be ever compared with anyone.The version is correct and fresh not celestial.

I keep coming back this JK rendition on his 2010 CD. This is of course from his Verismo Arias disk with Tony Pappano, an example of JK's 100% passion, concentration, and dedication to the aria he is singing,
Hanako5100 - I completely agree. His wonderful technical abilities are enhanced by his passion and intelligent appreciation of the role of Tonio.
- Oh shoot. He wasn't Tonio but Canio. Isn't that right? As if I hadn't seen multiple performances of this opera. Maybe the stress we're all under has affected my brain. Sorry.
