Thank you for this review. I couldn't help think that (notwithstanding the rain!) it would have been a more effective demo of wireless mics if you were standing further away, or just walking around the garden.
Extremely helpful . I was "on the fence" considering the purchase of a GO Pro - now am going for it due to being able to have quality sound with the Rode Wireless Microphone set up. Your delivery was very professional, clear and concise . Thanks
I am extremely happy that Rode did not go the cheap route and actually included 2 USB-C cables instead of just one! Having just one would have been such an inconvenience. But they were smart and included 2 :)
I had the Rode Go for about 3 weeks. I purchased the Pico Mic and WOW,..what a difference! I returned the Rode Go and kept the Pico Mics. Picos had way better range and signal strength, not to mention full mic gain control on the transmitter as well as MANY more receiver level options. The Rode Go's have a nice mic jack but that winds up being ruined because they only give you ONE factory fixed gain setting. What good is having a mic jack if you can't control it's gain amount to avoid clipping? The Pico Mic is pretty awesome....and it doesn't flop around your clothes when you clip it on!
I just started using the GoPro line, Hero 7 black, and your review comes at a great time! Very informative; great job! Thanks so much. I have subscribed to your channel and hit the bell! Keep producing! Enjoy your summer!
Thanks for your review. I have just purchased a gopro hero 7 black to start vlogging. I am getting prepared to hike to Everest Base Camp next March. The setup you presented will be perfect, lightweight and suitable for those mountain breezes!
Hi sir.. this is sathish from india.. tamilnadu.. and in salem city.. I too youtuber.. rx design maker.. u r giving very very useful videos to all other youtubers.. I really surprise and very happy to watch ur videos.. Keep rockk ur videos.. Im one of the subscriber to ur channel sir..
Hello sir. I bought two rode wireless mics. My intentions were to hook a mic to a subject and another one to me that way we can use only one camera and I could conduct interviews. I can’t seem to connect both transmitters to one receiver connected to one camera. Is that possible? Thank you
dang, sounded like your gain was way to high on the pocket too. you should make a video showing this again and explaining that it actually works better than it does in this video. if this is the actual sound i will no longer be buying the rode. just can't believe it would sound so bad. gotta be user error i hope.
For the line of sight I know if you turn around it’ll cut out but if you turn your camera around say from vloging yourself to filming somethin in front of you will it cut out?
Nice product those who really want external mic. Sounds more clarity without GoPro mic here.I been doing my travel vlogging with GoPro hero 7 black without external mic.If you don't want to spend extra bucks you can do some audio enhancement while doing editing. All you need to do is capture the audio in raw format✌
I really wanted this system to work. Sadly The disconnects I get with mine have made it unusable for me. Anytime I turn away from the receiver it disconnects. That negates the reason to have a wireless system to begin with at least for me.
Agreed. Depending on how you use this microphone it is not usable for everybody As you must remain in line of sight I’m working on a review for an unreleased product That is coming up for lunch in early August. That’s one of the things are going to be thoroughly testing on this product it might be a better solution for some
This video was great, its really helped me with my audio issues for my sailing vlog channel, I'm pretty pumped to get myself sorted with the Oslo Pocket & rode wireless combo, which I can also use with my Go Pro. Thanks for making this video, it was super helpful, I've watched it about 3 x!
Thank you for this great video. To understand your test I would be happy to know the distance you had the gopro from your mouth, as well as the distance from the Rode mic to your mouth. Thanks very much.
Good vid. The GoPro audio is better though. I was just checking this information out to see if it was any value to use when motovlogging. I see it is really much too bulky for that application now.
Great video and very informative! I`ve got this system, it is really convenient but I came across some issue. While transmitter is charging via usb cable that came with it it will turn On by itself and stays On when unplugged. Have you had this issue with your mic? Thank you.
I had gotten gun-shy about wireless systems, and was using shotgun mics the most, but want to return to the cleaner lav sound. I don't want to return to the bad old days of wired lav mics....too many overturned tripods!
I find that the Rode is a little too hot. You really got to get it away from the mouth which kinda sucks because it means it picks up a lot of background noise.
Never mind the free giveaways (which I am sure are great) but this video told me exactly what I needed and wanted to know and told me in clear way. Huge thanks!
Does not sound good at all. Why have this equipment if your are standing behind the camera anyway. Been a better test if he had stood away from and talked to the camera.
Thanks mate! Best option and compact. Am gonna buy this. Will it work with the new DJI Osmo Action camera? If yes will it the vlogging frame also fit the DJI Osmo Action camera? Appreciate your update on same. Thanks ☺️👍
I don't really see alot of benefit using this with a Gopro when the camera is on or close to you. But this would be cool if you are using your Gopro on a tripod away from your body where the camera wouldn't be able to capture clear audio.
It’s a good unit but for the Osmo if you use the wireless controller that plugs in the bottom of the Osmo you can’t use the Rode Go at the same time and tbh that is when it would be most useful ie when I’m away from the Osmo and it’s on a tripod and I’m controlling it remotely
Your viewers need to know there are problems with the internal mic on the rode wireless go. at first the internal was either on or off but turning off and back on it would work again. after trying with different camera because it seemed camera sensitive it is dead. plug in an external mic on the transmitter it works. others are having the same problem
Sounds like the Rode is clipping badly on both the GoPro and the Osmo (worse on the GoPro). Did you adjust either mic gain or input gain in either test? This looks like it might be a good solution for me (I use an Osmo Pocket amongst other gear) and I would be curious to see a more in-depth review, especially evaluating the built-in mic frequency response and also the accuracy of the digitizer. One thing I’m unclear on is if the red cable is analog or digital. I would hope that we aren’t digitizing at the mic then converting to analog at the receiver just to have the camera digitize again. When you first showed the Rode with its USB-c cable I assumed it would be plugging directly in to the USB-c port on the Osmo. The audio path as presented seems overly complicated... why not bypass the camera all together and just record the audio to a SD card in the transmitter? That won’t work for live streaming but I don’t think the Osmo can use used for that anyway.
I, too, am interested in the Hero 7 Black. The Rode mike with the Ulanzi V2 case bring minimalism to videography. I have subbed to both your Facebook and RUclips accounts. Best wishes from Georgia, USA!
Thank you for this review. Could you technically still record sound with the Rode wireless without plugging it into the GoPro audio adapter and connect the sound in post?
The Wireless Go unit does not record nor store audio. You can have the audio go into a recorder instead of the camera, and then sync it with the video in post.
You can do that using the Beachtek MCC-2 adapter. It has two adjustable audio inputs (for two receivers) and one output to the camera. Alltogether somewhat bulky. It would be much nicer if the Rode receiver could connect to two transmitters.
I wonder how well this will work with the Mevo. Also, did you notice any audio lag at all? I’m hoping to use this for concerts/poetry sessions, live video podcasts, and weddings potentially where I might not be all that close to the audio source camera-wise.
I kinda was taken back, I felt your voice was a bit distorted using the Rode wireless and background noise more pronounced...hehehe. Were you holding the transmitter up close to your mouth? Or did you have clipped on to your shirt? I'm curious. Just based on your test sample, I wouldn't buy it... :)
Why are microphone manufacturers not making products that can plug directly into the GoPro, without the need for a Media Mod or Microphone Adaptor? Or am I missing something? I want to be able to plug my mixing desk into the GoPro, for an interview live stream, but even that needs the Mic Adaptor...
I’ve really been wanting a wireless mic for my GoPro and this mat be it. Could you do some more testing videos with it? Distance, lapel mic, etc? It would be beneficial to see all the settings tested before I make a final decision, but compact design is a definite plus.
What a bummer gopro didn't yet add the feature to just connect with the Bluetooth or WiFi to an external mic? it has those connections already built in...
I have a Hero 8 gopro that I run with an external power source instead of having to use and change out multiple batteries when filming for long periods of time. Can I still do that with this rode wireless mic system or does the rode system take over the charging port?
Thank you for your work you put into this. What about making it work with a gimbal? I have a Gopro 2018 and the stabilization isn‘t as good as on the 7. So I‘ll use the gimbal.
Thanks for yet another awesome video review. Covered all the necessary points. Must say, the GoPro’s onboard mic is pretty impressive. P.S.: Liked your Facebook page.👍😎
Thank you very much we will be starting giveaways in a couple weeks on my Facebook page. RUclips is starting to frown upon giveaways as they feel it’s buying likes. Personally I think it’s just a nice way to build community and give thanks for those who supported you
Hey, Can you attach this microphone on an iPhone gimbal? maybe the dji OM4 ? or does anyone know any good quality wireless microphone that is compatible with iPhone and an iPhone gimbal without blocking any of the axes movements ?
Wow, that's pretty amazing to get that kind of quality in that form factor. I googled it and it looks like it's around $200. Not bad, for $70 right now extra someone could have a nice set up with the Rode mic as well.
I use external power for capturing my fishing sessions with my GoPro, which last many hours. Would using this product preclude the use of external power?
Are we able to record audio on our motorcycle even not using gopro adapter? Cause this is being hard for me, I don't wanna buy an adapter for that, so if you know some microphone like that say me 😉😊
Things just got more exciting now because DJI came up with its own wireless audio system and it’s pretty good!!!
Thanks
Oh my gosh, your channel is growing exponentially! Congrats on the success! You have been one of my favorite channels for over a year.
Rode finally meeting its nemesis now with the new DJI Mic. Amazing how things can change over time.
Just notice higher volume but not noise cancellation at all.
I am extremely happy that Rode did not go the cheap route and actually included 2 USB-C cables instead of just one! Having just one would have been such an inconvenience. But they were smart and included 2 :)
Ooh.. man this video is very useful and that adaptors for both were very useful information to me.. thanks a lot

Awesome video. It answered the exact questions I had that I couldn’t find answers to. Especially on the mounting part. Thanks for making this video
Thank you I’m glad you found it helpful

Great easy to understand and follow along video. 👍
awesome video been following you for ages love how you describe things plain and simple and easy to follow
Thank you very much 🙂
damn, the audio on the gopro hero 7 black sounds so much better stock then the rode sounded. i was not expecting that at all.
dang, sounded like your gain was way to high on the pocket too.

Interesting test -- however there are 3 settings for the Gain -- the GoPro you need to adjust the gain -- you are peaking out -- big time
Yes thank you for pointing that out I plan on doing more tests to find the optimal Settings as well as do some range test. Thanks for watching 👍
This wireless microphone is great. Is it possible to fix it to a drone whereby this drone is also fix with a speaker.
👍👍👌👌
Can you add a power bank to power all units?
I have 7 silver tho
You have such a great channel! I have learned a lot about gear from your content. I appreciate the reviews! 👍
Thank you very much

Make sure to set your rode mic in the media mod settings to "powered mic" or you'll have a 3 second delay using quikcapture!
I find that the Rode is a little too hot. You really got to get it away from the mouth which kinda sucks because it means it picks up a lot of background noise.

8:00 the audio is actually WORSE using the wireless go.
Jeff Bourke I agree
Agree
Does not sound good at all. Why have this equipment if your are standing behind the camera anyway. Been a better test if he had stood away from and talked to the camera.
notice he inst using a microphone plugged into the unit, That is why the sound is crappy expect pay walls
If you don't ride bike you don't need
Excellent review thank you

My first visit to your channel. Will hope for your reply.
I don't really see alot of benefit using this with a Gopro when the camera is on or close to you. But this would be cool if you are using your Gopro on a tripod away from your body where the camera wouldn't be able to capture clear audio.
I've had my eye on this mic setup since its release...definitely considering it for use with the osmo pocket! Great review!
Thank you yeah it’s pretty cool product I’ve been waiting for a small compact system like this for a while
It’s a good unit but for the Osmo if you use the wireless controller that plugs in the bottom of the Osmo you can’t use the Rode Go at the same time and tbh that is when it would be most useful ie when I’m away from the Osmo and it’s on a tripod and I’m controlling it remotely

Thanks for the great info. I always always enjoy your reviews.
Thank you very much and thanks for watching
Trying to buy that microfon adapter but cant find it anywhere in Europe to buy it this is bullshit ....
How much? Where did you bought this product & how is it?
I purchased it on Amazon there is a link in the description of this video. But I do believe you can get them on many other tech websites
Sounds like the Rode is clipping badly on both the GoPro and the Osmo (worse on the GoPro). Did you adjust either mic gain or input gain in either test?

akhirnya keluar juga.ROde. emang top....ditunggu versi murah made in china nya...Boya di tunggu yaa
need to make sure you turn the rode gain down there buddy.
Duly noted. I do plan on doing some more tests with the set up to find the most optimal Settings and as well do some range tests
Absolutely. Too Loud
Happy Easter 🐇🐰🐣 to you & your family.
Looks great 👍 sounds great,
love the size.
Thanks for sharing your information
Have a Great 👍 Day
Thank you very much happy Easter to you as well
Very nice. I do like the frame you are using for your Hero 7 Black. That looks so much more sturdy than the standard one.
Great review as always bro... Love from Rishikesh, India 🇮🇳
Thank you very much
Still enjoying your basic vlogs, especially now I know wasn't u, wasn't me, was camera that arrived broken!!
It sounded more natural without the microphone.
I agree. The GoPro sounded better. I suspect you needed to dial down the gain on the RX.
KGR1281 actually
Agree...
Brilliant video thanks, just bought the Rode Go to use with my Pocket
Hope you enjoy it!

Every site says pre-order. Either Adorama or B&H. Osmo Pocket hot shoe not available. We will have to wait to try this.
I see that the receiver has an usbc output, so, can I connect it directly for example to the osmo pocket without the microphone adapter?
Thank you for this review. Could you technically still record sound with the Rode wireless without plugging it into the GoPro audio adapter and connect the sound in post?
The Wireless Go unit does not record nor store audio. You can have the audio go into a recorder instead of the camera, and then sync it with the video in post.
@@byronporter8013 Thank you!
If you want two how would you put two inputs in one camera? Would you just use a splitter?
Good question I’m not quite sure the answer to that or if it’s even possible. Hopefully some other viewers will be able to answer your question
You can do that using the Beachtek MCC-2 adapter. It has two adjustable audio inputs (for two receivers) and one output to the camera. Alltogether somewhat bulky. It would be much nicer if the Rode receiver could connect to two transmitters.
The Rode Wireless Go sys is known to have pretty hot outputs so it caused bad clipping on your GoPro, might try setting it at its lowest setting.
Nice! I'll get the first set to arrive in Finland in a couple of weeks.
Nice 👍
Thanks for this video. I think it is a useful gadget for daily vlogging. I have been bored with RODE Microvideo.
Great find! So cool that they’ve made this
I wonder how well this will work with the Mevo. Also, did you notice any audio lag at all? I’m hoping to use this for concerts/poetry sessions, live video podcasts, and weddings potentially where I might not be all that close to the audio source camera-wise.

Good video dude!
Glad you enjoyed it
Just got mine in, this thing is awesome, using on my Hero 7. 😎👍
Regarding the background noise, you can reduce or eliminate that through the DB.
Awesome. For to have one! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
If you wanna have two of those wireless mics, can you have one transmitter and 2 Mics
im planning on getting this really soon
You will enjoy it it’s a great little kit
Excellent review and nice to see those accessories to hook it up to both the GoPro and the Osmo. I'm going to order them using your links. Thanks.
Thank you very much and thanks for watching
I’ve really been wanting a wireless mic for my GoPro and this mat be it. Could you do some more testing videos with it? Distance, lapel mic, etc? It would be beneficial to see all the settings tested before I make a final decision, but compact design is a definite plus.
Yes I do plan on doing a follow up video with more tests including adjusting the gain. Keep an eye out
hello 👋 can I use this strictly from the gopro for high quality audio and not on a person, am I able to use this product this way?
What a bummer gopro didn't yet add the feature to just connect with the Bluetooth or WiFi to an external mic? it has those connections already built in...
I have a Hero 8 gopro that I run with an external power source instead of having to use and change out multiple batteries when filming for long periods of time. Can I still do that with this rode wireless mic system or does the rode system take over the charging port?
Can i use it as a amplifier for teaching live class by connecting it to a Bluetooth speaker
You can use a powered or battery backup mono pod...😜 to extend your GoPro battery life for longer recording times!
Good review, just what I was looking for, thanks, and keep them coming buddy!
Thank you very much
Just what i needed to see. Thank you!
Looks like a nice piece of equipment. Don’t know if I need one right now but if I ever do I will consider it.
Cool didn't know you could use Rode on GoPro till just now. 👍🏻👌🏻
👍
Another great video. Hope to see another video outdoors with this mic
Thank you for your work you put into this.
What about making it work with a gimbal? I have a Gopro 2018 and the stabilization isn‘t as good as on the 7. So I‘ll use the gimbal.
And we are still using a couple of Sennheiser EW 100 an EW 500 wireless sets 😂
Congrats for 100k 👌🏻
Thank you
Thanks for yet another awesome video review.
Personally I think it’s just a nice way to build community and give thanks for those who supported you
Air Photography Absurd logic by RUclips.

Very cool. A much needed product.
So it has to have a jack on the camera to work? I have a Garmin Virb. It only has a USB and HDMI connector or Wifi or Bluetooth., Any of these work?
i mean do u have anyoption if ur gonna film ur self with ur friend holding the gopro ?
this is the go ! dont complain about the sound quality guys
I use external power for capturing my fishing sessions with my GoPro, which last many hours. Would using this product preclude the use of external power?

When you plug in the Rode Wireless Go into the Osmo Action camera, does it bypass the built-in mic?
thanks for the video
What is the name of the support for the mic that you place in the osmo pocket?
Great review, appreciate you sharing that is pretty awesome. I'll be watching for more
Thank you very much
Once fully charged did your show a plug on the battery or constantly show the lightning bolt battery 🔋 ?
You Cannot use 1 transmitter into 2 receivers. I learned that the Hard Way!
