"Hippies and Cowboys" by Cody is one of the greatest country songs of all time. Local North Texas boy Cody is making it! Spreading the true sounds of country and carrying the torch. What a proud feeling to be from the same Town/Area.
His son was actually the inspiration for this song. There was a thunderstorm outside when they were driving and he said to his kid in the backseat “that’s some loud thunder and some heavy rain, huh bud?” Then his kid started chanting “loud thunder, heavy rain” over and over, and he thought it sounded good. Cody Jinks has good story songs on this album too. I recommend “David”, “Dirt”, and “Mama Song”.
FUN FACT for anyone who doesn’t know. Cody jinks was riding in his car with his son during a storm and his son kept saying thunder and heavy rain over and over again and he went home and wrote this song in one hour and it became his number one song very shortly
Turnpike Troubadours: Good Lord Lorrie or Gin smoke and lies or Before the Devil knows we're dead Love Red dirt music ughh 🔥🔥 Love Cody Jinks 🔥🔥 Also his songs off of his new album is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Cody jinks just sold out red rocks 2 weeks ago. Great concert one of the best I've been too. And to let you know about the kind of man he is. As a song was starting a veteran in a wheelchair tried to get a picture of himself with cody in the background, cody let the music play and he went to the front and called the man back for a proper picture with cody. I don’t comment a lot but he is my favorite artist and have been around a long time but people don’t know him. Cowboys an hippies is another great song. Keep making these great videos! Keep it real.
This song always reminds me of Iraq and Afghanistan deployments. Being on mission, outside the wire. All the convoy security missions and foot patrols. Loving night missions because the darkness could keep you safe, but hating night missions at the same time, straining to hear the slightest noise because the darkness could be hiding an ambush. Going for days without sleep. The flashbacks are powerful.
Thanks LostinVegas for introducing me to Cody Jinks! I will definitely check out more of his songs. Love your channel...I'm hooked. I love all genres of music so you keep me watching. Thanks for the truth. Peace!

Cody Jinks is amazing. 💕 My husband got into him right after his father died last year, and my husband listened to this song every single night for a whole year whenever he lost his daddy. Sometimes still does. We are both very much into Cody Jinks because he sings REAL SHIT.
I have similar feelings when i hear Cody Jinks, my stepdad loved him and he passed away earlier this year and everytime i hear I Cast No Stones i think of him and i cry.

Thanks, gentlemen. Great review. Here in Texas we have radio stations dedicated to only Red Dirt Country. Cody Jinks is a great representative of that sound that we all love here in the greatest state in the nation. Out of all the great Red Dirt songs, Y'all picked a good one. One of my favorite artists, Charlie Robison, recently announced he has to medically retire from singing. It would be really cool if y'all could take a listen to one of his greats, and one I'm especially nostalgic about, "My Hometown".
I love the way that you guys dive in to the lyrics with your unabashed true feelings! What ever you cat’s are doing, you’re doing it right! George, Ryan Love your stuff!
Found you guys site and really dig it. Love seeing unbiased music reaction. I just found Jody Jenks last year he is really good. Appreciate this channel
You guys are the best, really love that you took the time to listen to all of these songs, from metal to country to rap. I always enjoy your thoughts and videos! Keep on!
I heard an interview on W.B.Walkers Old Show Radio with him, and when Cody wore this song he was sitting on the side of the highway and his kid was in back saying Loud Thunder Heavy Rain and he wrote this song on the rest of the way home. He is one of my favorite artists respectfully
George!! You nailed the modern outlaw country take. I really think you guys need to revisit Tyler Childers... do “Feathered Indians” from his Purgatory album
I love how diverse these guys are.. they can critique the hardest gangsta rap to the best of country.. great taste in music my friends! I love it! All over the board, just like me! You know good music when you hear it, it's just something that grabbs you.
Hey y'all I like this I'm enjoying this video. Here's some tidbits from a fan. Cody Jinks is a Texas Red Dirt singer-songwriter who built his career with no commercial help from Nashville or anybody else. He wrote that song when his little boy was in the back seat of the car commenting on the weather outside. He said loud thunder heavy rain.
Most of the Red Dirt/Texas music guys built their careers by playing the circuit on their own and building a faithful following without help from Nashville. Even the ones who did the Nashville thing for awhile (like Charlie Robison , Pat Green and others) retreated back to their roots in Texas and Oklahoma.
Y'all will really enjoy pretty much anything he does. I would recommend Head case. It's from his newest album. Or somewhere in the middle or hippies and cowboys are good as well.
Not even on a video but y’all should listen to more of his music. My dad is extremely stressed cuz of his job but listening to Cody calms him down so much
I will go to my 3rd concert to see him this year(in Las Vegas). The beauty of Cody Jinx is he sounds better in person. He is such a rebel. Open-minded. Good soul. It shows in his performance and voice.
The best country music isn’t from Nashville it’s from Texas and Appalachia
Steven Jones you hit it right on the money
You hit it right on the money
I'd add Oklahoma to that.
Ft Worth Tx here, truth. Saw Cody a couple weeks ago with Jamie Johnson, good show.

Cody Jinks - "Somewhere Between I'm Leavin' and I'm Gone"

Leo Olide make sure it’s the live version tho.
Leo Olide i agree that or sleeping on the blacktop
Definitely live version of either!
Thanks for reviewing this one and to whoever recommended it. Found a new artist!
Thank you so much for listening to Cody Jinks, one of the best modern country artist around you guys rock
One of the best doing it right now.Check out Whitey Morgan or Whiskey Meyers
Whiskey Myers is my favorite band!!

Great videos. Please check out Blackberry Smoke and Whiskey Myers. Two great current southern rock bands.
Sleeping Dog and Reckoning!!! YES!!!
Ain't much left of me - Blackberry Smoke
Well, my fall from grace was a sight to see
Somewhere In The Middle - Cody Jinks
Love that song. So real!!
George!! You nailed the modern outlaw country take. I really think you guys need to revisit Tyler Childers... do “Feathered Indians” from his Purgatory album
So glad you all did Cody Jinks. He is really old school style and the real deal.
“That sounded pretty damn good together I’m about to rip you off little man”-Cody Jinks
Love that you did Cody Jinks! We love him here in Michigan! Try Hippies and Cowboys or I'm not the devil! Love you guys and keep them coming! ❤
