He clearly got Japanese accent when he speaks English. Maybe he was born in Japan, but his father is from China, but we still can say "hand picked from Japan" right? What is your problem???
@ 1:46 nice to see Gordon humble...I have always liked the way he cooks and have joined his membership cooking classes online. I think he is a fantastic teacher!
Chef Gordon as a student; not a judge or head chef, wow he really loves to learn about cooking from different people and culture, much more respect to you Chef Gordon.
At the end Karasan didn't say "He needs to be faster with a better quality finish.", instead he said "Since he's Ramsay I bet he can do it with double the speed(ラムジーさんだったら倍のスピードでできるんじゃないですかね)." It's interesting to see these translation mistakes (or maybe they just _guessed_).
It’s not a “classic” sushi roll if the rice is in the outside. That style of sushi was invented in Vancouver, Canada to better appeal to western tastes. If you go to Japan, you’d be hard pressed to find a “dragon roll”. Most sushi restaurants are actually run by Koreans. If they serve spicy tuna rolls, you know for sure that it’s not Japanese.
Gh0st1y_Ph4ntxm I agree and there’s a reason why the California roll becomes so famous. It’s nice to learn what’s authentic though. It matters because food is closely related to culture. With that said, I recently learned what real Italian carbonara is supposed to be but still prefer the “western” version.
@@aphus8504 Yang Weng Kuen isn't a Korean name! It's actually Chinese. I think he's from HK or SG. In the US though, a lot of good sushi chefs are of Korean or Chinese descent.
I really like this, how nervous Gordon is and how he semi cocks up under pressure. It just goes to show how difficult it is to learn new things even with years of experience.
I made myself sushi (california roll) at home once, and MAN, I have a newfound respect for people who make this for a living. People have absolutely no idea how difficult it is to actually make even a simple roll until they've tried it for themselves. Frankly, I'm amazed that Ramsay managed to do a roll like that in as little as 13 minutes. I can't imagine being able to put it out in 2.
I enjoy seeing him struggle and realizing that there are still challenges that he has to overcome. Perhaps he will never be as fast as those sushi chefs, but be will learn to a appreciate a good sushi next time he order one. And also he will learn that there is a lot of thought and care going into every single little part och the sushi (if it's a good sushi that is)
It’s cool to see Gordon have the respect for these Chefs. It’s neat to see chefs better than him at something and how he acts around them. It’s also amazing that they do this for so long.
"no one can master it all,as humans,we have limits, and to brake limits,we need time, but we don't have all the time in the world, people's skulls are limited"
"Learning to make Sushi - Gordon Ramsay" this will be good. The Japanese literally devote themselves to their professions. One does not simply "make" sushi.
Yes, one simply does, including countless people who make it at home from common ingredients found in every supermarket here. Such a ponce. And the "dragon roll," by the way, is an American recipe.
***** That is nonsense. All the knife skills you see in Japanese cooking are found in classic French. Even the idea of rolling layers of food into a pattern is something that has been in Europe for just as long. Look up "Terrine" . You're just cutting veg, doesn't matter how thin you shave a radish, it's still gonna taste like radish.
Lewis McArthur Sushi is relatively easy to make, especially for a chef with 7 michelin stars, dont let your infantile obsession with japan cloud your mind.
He's using the same ingredients in the same quantities presented in the same way. It will taste THE SAME whether or not you want to be a douchey purist.

Mark H. LOL never noticed that
Mark H. If the man was born in Japan but with a Chinese name, I don't see problem of him being called Japanese correct?
Mark H. Yeah i noticed that too
You don't have to be Japanese to be from Japan... Anybody can become a sushi chef from the correct training
He clearly got Japanese accent when he speaks English. Maybe he was born in Japan, but his father is from China, but we still can say "hand picked from Japan" right? What is your problem???
Mr. Ramsay's challenge of Sushi is so impressive!
To improve his techniques, he has been trying to face every challege.
I respect him!!
@ 1:46 nice to see Gordon humble...I have always liked the way he cooks and have joined his membership cooking classes online. I think he is a fantastic teacher!
everytime im eating, iv always gotta watch a couple gordon ramsay videos just to make my meal that much more satisfying
Chef Gordon as a student; not a judge or head chef, wow he really loves to learn about cooking from different people and culture, much more respect to you Chef Gordon.
I love how humble Gordon was cause he didn't have experience in sushi , it's about listening no matter how good you are you can always get better .
I'm pretty sure they were like “He's basically Mr.Miyagi of sushi so fuck translation and let's just imagine what Mr.Miyagi would say”
... THE SUSHI IS RAWWWWW
*fuckin
It is supposed to be raw, all seafood meats are half cooked or straight raw and still delicious.
YOU DONKEY
Dude it's a joke lmao

It’s not a “classic” sushi roll if the rice is in the outside. That style of sushi was invented in Vancouver, Canada to better appeal to western tastes. If you go to Japan, you’d be hard pressed to find a “dragon roll”. Most sushi restaurants are actually run by Koreans. If they serve spicy tuna rolls, you know for sure that it’s not Japanese.
it doesn't matter what they made food is food and if its good then its good
Gh0st1y_Ph4ntxm I agree and there’s a reason why the California roll becomes so famous. It’s nice to learn what’s authentic though. It matters because food is closely related to culture. With that said, I recently learned what real Italian carbonara is supposed to be but still prefer the “western” version.
@Souta Furumura i am a japanese too and all kind of sushi wether its california or korea it is till japanese.
@Souta Furumura well that is different 😂
@J S stfu
I was waiting for the chef to say "THE FISH IS FUCKING RAW! LOOK AT IT!"
Gordon: seasoning, rice, fish, avocado, sauce, beautiful.
Me: Bowl, Apple Jacks, Milk, spoon, beautiful.
im dead lol
Only americans find that substance like food "beautiful".
Thier faces after gordon finishes its dishes damn its so quality despite its his first time, truly the best chief.
Chefs hand picked from Japan, Teaching me today is Yang...., wait what?? Lol
Is he korean?
+天夜叉 I think he said "Wan" or "Yan" xD
+天夜叉 Not that unusual for international chefs to study cuisines at their countries of origin!
+Rosita Rahmah That's not a korean name. I think it's chinese
+天夜叉 I know I was like "What, yang? That ain't a Japanese name." xD
All the experts hand picked from japan
The expert's name: yang wing quing
Wait what?
I got confused too, maybe the pronunciation might be slightly different from what Gordon said
@@aphus8504 Yang Weng Kuen isn't a Korean name!
Gordon Ramsay gonna get Gordon Ramsayed by the Japanese =p
Jesse Chen ramsayan jin
2:39 That's what she said
Justin Xu lol
Actually subtitles are wrong
Master learning from the masters, Gordon has his pride and everything, but he knows humility as well. He always knows his position
This camera quality is better than some people in 2019 on their 25 p potatoes
This fish is so raw, it's still trying to find Nemo!
Man! Chef Ramsey is so humble with learning new abilities to make such exquisite food.
Cara-san complimented Chef Gordon, "If Mr. Ramsey masters it, he would do it twice faster (than me,) wouldn't he?"
it's so funny seeing Gordon being criticized for being slow since he's always so fast with his food
Martin Wang The last part has wrong translation tho
He actually said “I think that Ramsay can finish it twice faster”
I made myself sushi (california roll) at home once, and MAN, I have a newfound respect for people who make this for a living. People have absolutely no idea how difficult it is to actually make even a simple roll until they've tried it for themselves. Frankly, I'm amazed that Ramsay managed to do a roll like that in as little as 13 minutes. I can't imagine being able to put it out in 2.
This is a good thing to learn from Gordon - never stop learning!
"All hand pick from Japan"
*Walks up to a tree with Russians hanging down and picks some*
This is some fresh Russians
I love everything that Gordon Ramsey is about. He's brilliant whilst being humble.
Damnnnnnnn dude, even tho it took that long his roll looks JUST as perfect as the full time lifelong sushi chef's! Bravo 👏👏👏👏
I would laugh my ass off if that sushi master started shouting at him, Ramsay style :D Would be fun to see Gordon getting a bit of his own medicine)
+BurgerPrince lmao
GORDON GA TSUKUTTA KONO SUSHI WA TAWAGOTO NO YOU NI MIERU YOGORE NO YONA AJI! ANATA WA BAKA INAKAMONO NO HAKUJIN YAROU!
Dromaeosauridae Gaming Oh god stop
??? What did I say? I have no idea anymore, I'm too lazy to open google translate.
his mentor Chef was like that.... he's been treated worse than anyone he's ever gotten on..... Trust me, it wouldn't bother him one bit lol
Proof that even you are a master, you still need to learn. Respect chef gordon
Gordon: Karasan, I am dying!
Karasan: Yes.
I can guarantee you that "Dragon roll" and "Spicy tuna roll" are anything but classic sushi !!!
Can you imagine the chefs yelling at Gordon, and him saying “yes chef!”. “WHERES THE EEL SAUCE!”😂
Holyshit that is fast Japanese make the best Sushi man that dragon roll looked delicious
Ramsay silently as he see the salmon :
*"Its fucking R A W"*
ITS FUCKING RAWWWW!!!!
Its like musicians you can be a world famous metal guitarist, but enter a jazz session and you are a rookie or ammeter at best
"no one can master it all,as humans,we have limits, and to brake limits,we need time, but we don't have all the time in the world,
people's skulls are limited"
"Has to be done in 2 minutes"
"NANI?!"
This right here is why Gordon Ramsay is such an amazing cook.
Sushi chef - make sushi under 2 minutes
Me - i can eat the whole role of sushi under 2 minutes
I want to see Gordon Ramsey make onigiri, that would be cute af
slowly but surely. a first timer chef doing a shushi dish. such perfectionist.
Im surprised Gordon didn't say "THE FISH IS FUCKING RAW"
Fuck head
He's using the same ingredients in the same quantities presented in the same way. It will taste THE SAME whether or not you want to be a douchey purist.
The fact that he's on top and still want to learn is very respectable
Weebs complaining that he didn't learn in glorious Nippon.
The FISH! THEY ARE RAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hes a 16 michellin star chef but hes ready to learn new things without being cocky or anything
*RESPECT*
When he left they probably called him stupid round eye!
