I saw this live, but not at the Hollywood Bowl with Lil Buck and live cellists, but with Cost and Meyer dancing and a recording of Kevin playing all the regular cello parts and then the electric cello live, like here. Then this Christmas tour I saw Kevin and Matt do Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy where they mixed in parts of PTX’s Grammy winning arrangement with more Kevin and Matt amazingness added. That is well worth a look/listen since you liked this!
I watched a reaction from a beat boxer. He explained that when your beat boxing some of the sounds come from breathing out and some of the sounds come from breathing in. So they are actually breathing. That doesn’t change the fact that Kevin is a freak of nature. I mean that in the best way. This last tour that they did Matt actually had a full drum set on stage that he played. Every time I see something from this concert. It makes me sad. I am an empath and I cannot go into large crowds because the amount of energy completely overwhelms me. this was filmed at the Hollywood bowl and I live about 45 minutes away from there. But they did professionally record this whole concert, so I got to see it without having a complete mental breakdown.🤭 I don’t know why this particular part of the show always makes me cry. 😢 It is so beautiful. I saw them do this live last August at a concert, without the orchestra or the dancing - they have such great chemistry and have so much fun!

He's an anomaly. A genius!
On the breathing thing, I think 2 reasons. 1st he's suuuuper fit. Both lifts alot but also lots of cardio. I seem to remember that he beatboxes on the treadmill, and that doesn't surprise me because he's done a few 45-ish minute livestreams talking with chat while on the treadmill this year!
He also has a K-snare sound that he does on an inward breath (and some other sounds he can do that way) so he can continue a beat while getting some air in.
Kevin is a true polymath ...started playing piano aged 4, cello aged 6 and saxophone aged 10 & at aged 9 was in an advanced maths programme in his elementary school and started precalculus . As a teen he played cello & sax at Carnegie Hall and toured Europe with a youth orchestra. He was completing pre-med at Yale when PTX found him via you tube in a viral video where he played cello whilst beatboxing . He speaks fluent Mandarin & Spanish and , if that isn't enough , he composes , arranges , has perfect pitch and is one of the top 15 beatboxers in the US ! His electric cello is named Mr Carter aka Jay Z and his acoustic cello is Beyonce , because she's curvy , beautiful ,and has an amazing rich sound. Beyonce the cello appears in PTX's version of 'Shallow' , which is stunning , and he makes her sing with an Adele medley from 8 years ago ( which features some very talented strings musicians , and the 6th member of Pentatonix & arranger extraordinaire , Ben Bram on piano ) here : ruclips.net/video/lhXaYhlCZyE/видео.html

The Hollywood Bowl holds about 17,500 fans. This was a special concert with some orchestra additions. I believe this was from Dec 2023. I love the fun additions PTX has at their concerts. ❤️ Correction from a fan that was there. Sept 2022.

I saw Pentatonix twice last year and they put on a great show. Both shows Kevin did a cello piece and I almost forgot I was at a PTX concert. He’s obviously talented but also so captivating! Such a great performer. “Dance of the sugar plum fairy reimagined” is from the Christmas 2023 show 🤯. There’s a good video of it from their live stream recording

I truly can't explain in words how effing unbelievable this moment was to witness live at my second ever ptx concert. Just outstanding! 🙏🏾❤️ Also the dancer is lil Buck, pretty well known breakdancer.

I enjoyed your reaction to this Hollywood Bowl Kevin's 5th performance. Thank you. Glad that it made your day. It always makes me happy to watch it. Lil Buck is a dancer, actor, model, etc, not really a conductor. He was a surprise special guest. Kevin has a segment during every Pentatonix concert when he plays cello. Since the Hollywood Bowl concert was so special, they threw in some surprises like the string section and Lil Buck. Kevin and Matt make a dynamic duo with the cello and drums.

Hello Saeed, Spectacular performance all around by Kevin, and the conductor joining in to dance, was such fun. PTX streamed this Hollywood Bowl performance live and it was a superb show to watch. Judith -- I agree, and suggested it a couple of days ago. He will not be disappointed.
I'm of the opinion that they are aliens and don't need to breathe. Other examples are Mitch in Carol of the Bells and Avi in No. I've wondered why Kevin doesn't have his lips fall off in any of the evolutions.

Oh man!!!! You did the wrong one! I sent you the link several times. This is Kevin's Fifth but it is just the song. The link I sent you has very important information about how Kevin became part of PTX. Scott tells the story and is so funny. This version is great...but the other one teaches you about how it all came to be. I'll post the link again and you can watch it on your own. Or you can react to it. Kevin talks about his life and his parents are in the audience. Dang it!! I wish you could have done that version. 😢
