the best games for you to start with are gonna be the 2d side scrollers, super mario bros, kirby, that stuff. theyre simple and usually easy to get a hang of, and they are the games most people ever start playing games with. I grew up playing the games my parents played, the first 3 super mario bros games. thats a good way to get the hang of a controller and branch off into the 3d world, which is a good bit different and challenging for a newcomer in a lot of cases.
I shall do just that
There are a ton of indie games in the eshop you can get at a very low low (I mean VEEEEERRRYY low) such as Stardew, Little Nightmares, etc. I think you'll like these kinds of games as they are not that technically demanding and focus more on the experience of the player. Clearly, a ton of us enjoy this fresh perspective you offer in gaming. Keep playing!
I would recommend Animal Crossing: New Horizons and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Both are $60 each so yeah definitely not cheap but so worth it! ❤
Usually most free to play games are geared towards people who play very often, and in most cases, they are also hard to tell if they are made for players who are experienced and inexperienced. Of the three you chose, arguably, Pokémon Quest was the most beginner friendly of the bunch. Sky is probably the most difficult of the three you opted for seeing its more of an atmospheric game with you knowing prior knowledge of how games of its genre operate. With that out of the way, I think I have a better idea of your play style, and would actually recommend you these two games, although they are paid games, they are very easy to grasp, and also offer you tutorials at the start to teach you the basics so you can actually play and enjoy the game:
1. Pokémon Scarlet/Violet/Sword/Shield: These are the mainline Pokémon titles (mainline meaning the games that are most known for the series). I recommended these two as they offer tutorials at the start for the game's core mechanics and controls, which makes the overall experience easy. Too add, you mention with Quest you enjoyed the cooking feature, well I offer good news. All 4 of these games have a feature where you can cook with your Pokémon in a camp setting, as well as other things like seeing them do fun and cute things. Also, Eevee is in all four games too, so you can travel with your partner Eevee if you so choose.
2. Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - The Definitive Edition: Yes, the title is a mouthful, but that is how the developers, Square Enix, rolls. This Japanese RPG is what I fully think will satisfy everything you listed. It's one of the few Japanese RPGs that is heavily user friendly, as well as the preferred game for beginners in Japanese RPGs by its own developers. You mentioned you love fantasy stories, well, this game has that to a maximum. It's a really long, but lovely story, and the Switch version has a LOVELY orchestrated soundtrack that elevates it to no end. Mind you, it's a time sink, the game's story is long, very long, but its engaging, and you'll be able to enjoy every inch with an hour burst to a few hours. You'll love the characters, the costumes, the world, the crafting, the cooking. Too add, the art style is done by none other than famous mangaka, Akria Toriyama.
Again, sorry for the text wall, but to me, the ultimate goal is to give you the best and most optimal and fun experience. This is a new venture for you, and playing your way is how gaming should be. But regardless, I am excited to see your adventure into gaming on the Switch unfold more, and I do hope you record more of these videos too, it's refreshing to see someone experience something like this for the first time. Cheers, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Years!
Thank you so much!!! I will look into those:) Merry Christmas!
I loved this video so much, it was so interesting to see what its like to be a beginner gamer I would love to see more of your content 💖
the timer in sky was for a concert
The auditorium in Sky was the Aurora event ^w^
Sky will take longer to understand the gameplay TwT, but once you're used to the game mechanics, u will have a lot of fun. especially when you're interacting with strangers
Thank you so much!!
Hi! I did try out Spellbreak and I found that the dodge feature involves clicking on the right joy stick. I know it's not a super obvious button you can click because the stick is used for changing the camera angle too. The disabled feature is just in the tutorial section at the beginning. I think it is the game's way of saying "that's not the right button for this action". I hope this was helpful!
Thank you so much😭 I will try that❤️
1. Fall Guys, It's fun 60 players online multiplayer game..
2. Disney Dreamlight Valley, Cozy games with a lot Disney characters [and more to come]..Right now this game is not free but it will be free to play soon
OMG!!! i LOVE your videos SOO much.
Thank you!!!
These arent free but you should definitely try:
Overcooked
Animal Crossing
Disney dreamlight valley
Pokemon snap (you take pictures of pokemon)
Pokemon let's go Evee (or Lets Go Pikachu)
I feel like these are all beginner friendly. Overcooked would probably be the hardest of these because it's like a fast paced cooking game. But it's really fun and I feel like it might help you learn some buttons faster.
Dream light valley will be free next year though!
@@arandomthought9001 but with a lot of microtransactions though..if you buy now, you can open most of the chest for free..you need real money to open the chest when this game goes free to play
@@kdm3163 I'll keep that in mind. Didnt know all that. Good thing that dreamligjt valley is on sale this holiday season
Nice! I'd never heard of these games before-- thanks for telling us about them! There's also a lot of games that have free downloadable demos for them such as Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes and Bravely Default II (I love both of those games btw 🥰), so that way you can "try before you buy" them. Happy gaming! 😀
you should try pokemon scarlet or violet or any other pokemon game but I would recommend scarlet/violet because its the newest it also has lots of story to it
I think the seating thing is the aurora concert but idk she did a in game concert
I hope you make more interesting videos like this in the future
I love these videos i also have an nintendo lite and i recomemd fortnite palia and faefarm
you should do a part two with some of the comment suggestions 👀👀
I’m planning on it🤪
Untitled goose game you are a menace to society You make all the humans hate as you do funny pranks on them as a goose/duck it’s really fun and you can also play 2 player mode and be horrible goose/ducks together it’s a good game when you don’t to play fighting games but you also don’t really won’t to be that cozy AMAZING GAME 😄
My first ever video game was Breath of the Wild and it is still one of my top three games ever, even after getting a ps5 and playing technically “better” games
Edit: it’s not free tho
Loved the video! - Probably people already suggested that but you can check "Blades" and check "Warframe" - Blades is much more accessible and overall fun in short bursts in my opinion. Of course there's Dauntless and DC universe online which are the more known games but they are very time consuming. Warframe is one of the best graphical ports on the switch in my opinion but it also have a learning curve
Hi Steph!
Welcome to the gaming world :)

*Note: These demos are free to play for a couple of chapters & can only be played for 1-2 hours, but you can replay them by starting over the New Game)

Also, you can wait for Disney Dreamlight Valley to be launched free-to-play in 2023
I saw Super Kirby Clash! I need to try that one
@@stephmariem You can also try Kirby and the Forgotten Land (Demo Version)
- I updated my main comment, with more games recommendations ;)
@@JamJim thank you so much!!!
Maybe you want to try Beautiful Desolation, it's a relaxing game and it's on sale now. I know Beautiful Desolation isn't a cute game, but it's suitable for casual gamers
Suggest : you can record in the switch and show in the videos
Thank you for this!!! I was wondering how I could show you guys:)
Awesome vid, don’t really know any free games I just got my switch and have been playing Pokémon scarlet not free but it’s really fun
in sky child, the timer was for the aurora concert iwi
I figured something was gonna happen! I just had no idea what 😂
@@stephmariem usually games like that have timers for events, you arent waiting 3 hours to do something in the game lolmao 😂❤
@@moos1n so what do I do in the game mr man
@@stephmariem no clue 🤷♂
@@stephmariem Its kind of an adventure game! its quite fun actually.
I spent alot of time playing Island saver while i was waiting for my animal crossing game to arrive…. 25HOURS OF GAMEPLAY
Oooo I’ve never heard of that one I might have to try it!
POkemon Cafe REmix, is a fun, cutesy puzzle game! Guardian Tales is cute. Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel is fun and has a good tutorial!
Check out super Kirby clash, I just got my self the oled model this week an downloaded that game so far so good 👍 an I would say beginner friendly and free lol
Try Pokemon violet it's a good
Hiya super fun video 😀 in sky children of the light you were in a special event the game so if you clicked out of it there are these other ‘doors’ that behind event that lead to the start and the other parts of the game. It’s kind of story based and you can by urself or with someone as there’s button that literally lets you call out to someone to come help you through that particular part of the world.
This is kinda a shitty explanation but I hope it helps if u have any other questions I’d be happy to help if u see this anyway lol
@@Solra_ no that’s a good explanation! Idk why I was hyper-fixated on finding a seat lol
😂 it was funny tho. But yeah just go through isle of dawn its the first one and the ‘doors’ are made of stone have fun
I'm playing sky cotl
What the heavens lol children of the light isn't a "time based game" lol it's so funny seeing u struggling XD
It's nothing like u think it is. Maybe search up some guides?
I was so confused it’s hilarious😂😂 i know better now😅
@@stephmariem HAHAHAHAH I can't stop laughing at Ur game innocence. The fact that u couldn't get past a single tutorial round on spellbreak - I'm wheezing HAHAHAHAHHA. Really loved the video though! Great job!
@@eemoot I tried so hard too😅 it’s okay though it’s a learning experience lolll
Try “cozy gamer” games :)
Spell break servers are shutting down, so I wouldn’t get to invested in them
you're such a cutie, and great video :)
Bro she literally has Fortnite
I wanted to try it😶
Okay
paladins
cute
Sweetheart you need to play, Atelier Ryza 3, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, or Bayonetta 3 . Stop playing these low budget games. You deserve better!
Hi!! A couple of my favorite games are Animal Crossing New Horizons and Stardew Valley which are more of simulator type games! As far as a free game I recommend, i like Fall Guys. It’s an obstacle course game that you can connect with your friends or just online. 🫶🏼
it is more of an adventure game, your suppose to explore the game yourself and the timer was for an event. Sky is meant to be a calm experience where you progress through the maps and kill a certain monster that I don't want to spoil for you until you get there. The game is multiplayer so you will just see random people in your game and the benches are for chatting with said stranger's because strangers don't see your messages outside of the bench.
I also have to say that spellbreak has sadly been shutdown. And I haven't played Pokémon Quest but I might try it.
Spellbreak was like a battle Royale and the name is based around gauntlets with different spells and you would combine the gauntlets spells to kill other players and win the game. It is literally magic Fortnite. Surprised you couldn't get past the tutorial tbh but I do also understand that you are a beginner. I mean as I said before, proletariat shut the game down like a few months ago so you can't play it but it had a lot of potential and probably could have made for a great eSport if they managed it correctly.
Sorry for the paragraphs. I'm not going to check my errors I just wanted to get that information out there.
I was still able to download spellbreak, what does it mean for a game to be shut down?
@@stephmariem @stephmariebooks what do you mean? You shouldn't be able to download it, they announced on their website they were shutting the servers for the game. They didn't say when but I certainly can't download the game anymore.
And shut down as in club penguin shutdown. It means the developers are pulling it from stores and depending on the company they will delete the game from their end and work on a new game. Games shut down all the time. Due to not enough players, server costs bleeding them money dry, or they just aren't making enough money. In spellbreaks case they weren't getting enough people on the battle pass and people weren't buying the skins and upgrades so they announced they were shutting down the game and focusing on other titles.
I can't download it anymore and my friends can't so I am confused how you were able to download it.
@@atmosphericmusic2950 I’m confused too😳 that’s how I got the game? Idk😂😂
@@stephmariem Nevermind, they have just announced they are not shutting down the game until January 1st giving players enough time to say goodbye
@@atmosphericmusic2950 oh my goodness! I’m glad I was able to try it before then🥺
I highly recommend trying the legend of Zelda breath of the wild I know it’s expensive as heck but it’s literally one of if not the best rated game ever and as someone who’s never played any other Zelda game before I love it🫡
I’ve heard of that one and I wanna try it sooooo badly
@@stephmariem girl you shouldz you’ll love it :’F
@@Deedeedoodad I will! I just need to save😂
