In this video I'm going to show you how to easily hem your dress pants to make them shorter at home! No sewing machine needed, and barely any experience needed either! We're using a simple needle and thread and will be putting whats called a blind hem stitch into them just like the professionals do.

I just did this on a pair of nylon pants. Ironically my grandmother taught me how to blind hem, I am 5'0 tall so it was a necessity for me but she never taught me to string through the inside of the cuff (if you knew my grandmother you would get it, she's a good enough - no attention to detail kinda lady). I am not sure why I never thought of it, I feel like I should have, but man when I would work a corporate job sometimes my heel would get caught between the thread and the pant 🙄. Thanks for upgrading my grandma's skills for me, lol.

Oh there's more. In the 7th grade my Home Ec teacher yelled at me like crazy and kicked me out of class for not putting down the presser foot before stitching. The next class my legs were trembling so bad because I was worried I was going to get thrown out of class again. Ironically, I was excited to learn how to sew, but I wanted nothing to do with it after that experience. However, later I was so bothered that this witch of a teacher ruined sewing for me. Around 17-18 I asked my grandma to teach me the basics of sewing. So we made a reversible halter top from a pattern, and called my teacher names the whole time. It was great to have her help me undo that trauma.
