Very helpful DIY. Hot or cold water was not coming out from dispenser. I followed each step and water is flowing now like a river 😅. Thanks for sharing this skill. God bless the eyes that reads this and show you his amazing love, salvation and grace. Amen 🙏
😮thank you, mine was full of frozen clear water and the bottom was white frozen. Now I can tell my friend how she can check hers to get it working. Thank the Lord for having patient people people solving problems that the company doesn't even us how to fix it. They just want you to buy another $200 dispenser. Thank you so much❤
MVP!!! I called the customer service and you have more knowledge than them. Mine it’s frozen all the way up. Not even able to fully release the white cover.
Thank you for posting this! Thought I was going to have to purchase a new dispenser, but thanks to this video I am back up and running! After not being used for a few days after being gone on vacation, my inside tank bottom was frozen solid and water couldn't flow. Used a hair dryer and chisel to break up the ice.. took a while but got it done. Thank you!
Thank you so much for posting this video! When mom in laws cooler quit working we thought it was a bad pump-then found your video and sure enough the reservoir was a solid block of ice!!
Thank you very much I thought I would have to buy a new one but after watching your video I was able to fix the issue Me and my family are really appreciate you for this video you save us a lot of money
Thank you so much for posting this. I actually have a different brand, but its components are similar, and this was exactly my issue. In my case, the cold dispenser was the first to stop working, and then a few days later, both the room temperature and hot water dispensers were not working. I called customer service, and they recommended a very elaborate process to clean the dispensers to clear any “mineral deposits,” which didn’t seem like the issue considering that I rarely use the hot water and room temperature dispensers. I came across this video and discovered my water reservoir was frozen solid. I had to let it thaw overnight just to lift the lid. After a couple of days of thawing, everything is working again. This was extremely helpful. I was prepared to buy another cooler until I found this video.
You’re welcome. Incase the ice comes back, some people who commented here suggested to buy a Christmas light timer and plug your water dispenser to the timer. Set the timer to turn off the dispenser at night then turn back on during the day to avoid ice being freeze again. I think that’s a great idea.
I was so ready to throw my water dispenser out after checking all the hoses/tubes and nothing was disconnected. Cooler would come on, water would go in, but no water out. Sure enough, opened the lid like you did in the video and there was a huge ring of ice halfway up the inside container. Fixed! Thank you!!! You saved me serious $$$$$! ☺
This saved me so much time. I was ready to rip everything apart and solder something or replace parts. After seeing this i just turned off the cooling for a few days and bingo. You are a hero friend. Thank you!
@@alison_arcadia mine has a switch on the top back. Turns out it just never stops cooling now so if I turn it on it’ll ice up after not long. I’ve been just having room temp water.

After watching so many other videos suggesting basic fixes, this was the ONLY one that pointed out this situation. My Culligan doesn't have a thermal adjustment but it has the option to turn off the cold water so I just did that because I don't want to have to deal with this again lol. Thanks so much for the video! Surprised nobody else has made a vid on this cause.
Thanks!!! I couldn’t find anything anywhere, I pulled apart my machine and was getting ready to toss it out before I watched your video. It was completely frozen! Thank you.
I bought a wall socket timer. I set it to turn on during daytime hours. I set it on a repeating cycle for one hour ON, two hours OFF. This works great. Give me a thump up if you like this ideal !!!
I followed the procedure to add hot water 3-4 times until all the ice was melted out of the tank. Then I discovered that our model has separate on-off switches for the hot & cold water functions on the back of the unit, near the top. So, to prevent future ice-ups, especially with cooler indoor temps this time of year, I decided to turn off the "cool" switch during the evening, then will get in the habit of turning it back on in the morning. I think(hope)this will avoid the problem going forward! 😀
This was helpful, thank you! We weren't getting any cold water. Hot water was working fine. So I unplugged the cooler for 24hrs and things are working again 😊
Read the instructions on the back, which I’ve never done it says for you to unplug it if you’re gonna be gone, I haven’t checked mine. I’m just gonna unplug it for a day or so and see if it works.
thank you for this is saved me the money for service which will cost me almost half of the price of the dispenser. tip i learned is to replace the empty bottle right away when low water indicator shows to avoid ice build-up.
Thank you for posting this video, I had a similar issue but mine was almost frozen to the top. I had to use a funnel to pour hot water in the metal water tank then it unfroze. I had to pour hot water for a while to defrost everything and then I also cleaned the tube's where the water dispenses since they were dirty too. It took me almost 3hrs but overall I have a thoroughly cleaned dispenser at a few hours cost. Some people would throw out and replace but who wants to spend $200 bucks on these things everytime something goes wrong every few yrs (3 to 5 yrs).
Glad it helped. Incase it ice-up again, some people use a wall socket timer to set the dispenser to turn off few hours at night and turn on again during the day.
Thank you so much! This was the issue with mine. Never would've imagine that being the issue or to even look there. Mine was a big frozen block that was easy to simply pull out after thawing out a bit.
Just wanted to thank you for this video! I tried looking online to troubleshoot why my water dispenser randomly stopped working overnight. Nothing worked until I saw this video, turned out it froze over and watching your video helped me get it working again! Thank you so much 😊
Thank you for posting this video! I was a week in of leaving it unplugged for 24 hrs every couple of days and 5 RUclips videos in. None of the company videos were helpful. Customer service said my dispenser was no longer under warranty so I needed to find an outside technician, that got me heated. My cooler had an extra secured attachment inside I had to figure out. But the reservoir was full almost to the top of a block of ice. There wasn't any water to be scooped out. I think a day or two unplugged may fully thaw it.

That last step is important! When I first tried the water dispenser, no water was coming out. After waiting a few hours, water came out. This just happened to me and I'm letting it thaw out for mine was solid ice to the lid not leaving me any space to displace hot water. Does this happen when there's something wrong with the unit? Or will it not happen again for a long time?
Mmm, I am so skeptical about this one. When you turned it back on, and let it run again, did the ice return or not? I disconnected mine for 6 hours and let it come down to room temperature and I had flow again. I plugged back on again and let it run for 7 hours and there was no flow. I re did that again but now for 24 hours and it came down normal. I turned back on and yea yeaa, ran for a couple of hours and again it stopped. I wonder if this was just a temporary fix of yours or how did it go from there after you poured boiling water.

Ok maybe I’m doing something wrong, but I can’t get the top cover off. Have the screws out from the back side, it’s the front not releasing.
I just pry mine open
I have the same issue and everytime we thaw out the ice it always ices back up. Any other solutions?
mine kept icing up too after thaw out so I bout new one.
yes guys, you were no lucky enough like the guy that produced this video, the real problem is the temperature sensor located between the tank and the PC board, i will check the availability of this sensor on google, so long!!
@@excelair2000 Did you ever check the temp sensor or it's just best to buy a new cooler?
I have the same issue with mine I did that but I notice compressor keeps running and problem will com back, will freeze again right? has to be a permanent solution maybe thermostat is not working and has to be replaced.
Yes mine did comes back, let us know if you find the permanent fix.
Mine is doing the same. Update?
@@stevebarragan9155 I I'm having the same problem. Did you ever. Find the problem. Thank you.
@Edgar Montes no solution yet. Still waiting to figure it out
How do you keep it from happening again?
I think you’ll have to replace the thermostat
this one guy who just commented that he use an outlet timer to set the dispenser to turn on cooling during the day and off few hours at night to thaw out. I think that’s a great idea.
This worked great. Could not find anything about the ice anywhere. Thank you!
You’re welcome glad it helped
Chad you son of a gun! You just saved my wallet $200! I am beyond thrilled that this worked! THANK YOU!
you're welcome, glad it helped.
If it ice up again read this: this one guy who just commented that he use an outlet timer to set the dispenser to turn on cooling during the day and off few hours at night to thaw out. I think that’s a great idea.
Thank you so much you solved my problem, did exactly what you said and everything is working perfectly fine.
You’re welcome glad it worked
Great video! Mine is currently thawing. I've had mine for only maybe a year. So am I going to have to do this every year? Is this "normal"?
Hi hope this works for you. This is not normal it’s probably something to do with thermostat issue.
@@ChadHer thanks. It works like new in the morning! Now I know what to check first next time. Hopefully it doesnt happen too often. Thanks again!
Darn, it froze again already. Is there a setting or something I can adjust? I will continue to try a google search again
@@ccm25 lmk if you figure it out, mine froze again as well
I havent had time to call customer service yet but ive settled to turn off the cold switch every night for now
Wouldn't it be best to disconnect it n let the ice melt for a day?
That would be best if you're not in a hurry.
Now the question is, why did the unit freeze up to begin with and how long before it froze up again since the issue was not corrected.
I think it’s a bad thermostat causing to freeze up again
this one guy who just commented that he use an outlet timer to set the dispenser to turn on cooling during the day and off few hours at night to thaw out. I think that’s a great idea.
For the past 3 months Ive been turning the cold option off for a hr or so and it'll work for couple hours and it'll freeze again. How do I get a permanent fix?
The thermostat maybe bad
Why can’t I get the lid to open? I removed the little hoses like he did but it’s like stuck
You’ll have to pry it open
@@ChadHer how do I do that 🫣🫣
@@TheStarz2826 it’s been awhile but I used a knife or screwdriver to pry open.
How do you get it to not freeze again? I followed these steps but then it froze all over again ?
If you figure it out let’s us know. I end up buying new one. It may be cause by a bad thermostat.
Thank you
After numerous useless videos all telling me to check my hoses... this was the issue
You’re welcome, glad it helped.
wat about the hot side? wat do i do if the hot side doesnt dispense water??
Does the cold water dispense? If not it may froze the hot and cold line all together, try thaw out overnight.
The hose of the cold water is disconnected i don't know where to connect it
How do u know it’s the cold water hose if you don’t know where it connect it to?
not the same model (mine is a 601258) but the insides where exactly the same and I had nothing but an ice block in there...currently waiting for it to melt. fingers crossed! thanks for the video!
Hope it works for you
Hope it works for you
After it defrosted did the water cooler work again
Yes it dispense fine
Thanks for this video it really helps a lot nd save our time nd money ❤
Glad it helped
Hoping this works! Instead of doing all that I’m unplugging for a bit and hoping for the best. We went from the cold water no longer working.. to the regular water slowing down.. to nothing
Unplugging it, is recommended if not in a rush. It well work too, you will need to leave it unplugg overnight.
I dnt have that brand will that wrk for any brand
If you not sure if has the same problem, just unplug it overnight
@ChadHer
It's brand new, not even 24 hrs old it has done that from the start
Finally a video that actually worked!!
Glad it helped
OK well none of my water is working on mine not even the hot, so how do you fix that?
Did you thaw out the ice from your machine?
Can I just turn it off and let it defrost?
Yes you can if not in a hurry
@@ChadHer worked great! Thanks again
Thank you! I opened mine up and it was frozen solid. Defrost time!!
Hope it helps
Was it dispensing hot water? Because mines isn't dispensing either..
I don’t use hot water only cold
Gratitude. This video saved the day...🎉🎉🎉
Glad it helped
I had the same problem, but all the searching it didn't say what the problem was and I didn't think there would be ice built up!! So, I pored boiling hot water slowly into the top and Im just letting mine melt away for the next 6-10 hours. Thanks for the video.
Hope this helps for you.
Thank you for the video!!!! Save me from buying another one! The whole things solid ice and once it was out everything work perfectly again!
You’re welcome, glad it helped.
This is what was wrong with mine, any idea what is causing this?
Probably a bad thermostat
@@ChadHer so do you have to do this every so often to yours? I really don’t wanna spend another 170 on a new one or overpriced parts lol
Incase it ice-up again, some people suggested to buy a wall socket timer and plug your dispenser into it then set timer to turn off at night then back on during the day.
Thanks bro I just fixed ours now it’s frozen hah😮 thanks for your video saved my money to buy new ones.
Yeah mine got frozen again after thawing out so end up buying new one as well.
Man just saw this video now mine has the same issue attempting to do it now. I did open it up and yes frozen rock solid. So doing your process now fingers crossed 🤞.
Let me know if this works for you.
Omg thank you so much. I did exactly as the video and it works great now. Thank youuu 🎉
Glad it helped
