- FIXED - Water Dispenser No Flows Or No Dispensing. My Primo water cool stop dispensing water. Here's how I fixed it. This works for all Frigidaire, Avalon, Primo, Norpole and Whirlpool bottom loading water dispenser.
This saved me so much time. I was ready to rip everything apart and solder something or replace parts. After seeing this i just turned off the cooling for a few days and bingo. You are a hero friend. Thank you!
Glad it helped
How do you turn off the cooling
@@alison_arcadia mine has a switch on the top back. Turns out it just never stops cooling now so if I turn it on it’ll ice up after not long. I’ve been just having room temp water.
Thank you for the video, I followed your video and was able to fix my water dispenser. Now I have it working perfectly.
@@joelolatunji6458 glad it helped
Thank you very much I thought I would have to buy a new one but after watching your video I was able to fix the issue Me and my family are really appreciate you for this video you save us a lot of money
You’re welcome, glad it helped

Just got one inspecting the cooler and used this video. That was the problem. Thanks a lot. Just saved us some cash.
Glad it helped
dude thank you so much! was gone for 2 weeks and came back to my dispenser not working. you saved me $200 lol
You’re welcome glad it helped
@@ChadHer it actually re froze after getting fixed, and there’s no way to adjust temp on my model I believe. Any idea why?
@@lukasarmstrong5222 did you ever figure it out? Mines doing the same thing?
This was helpful, thank you! We weren't getting any cold water. Hot water was working fine. So I unplugged the cooler for 24hrs and things are working again 😊
Glad it helped
I did Same. I wonder of his method is a continual thing to do.
Read the instructions on the back, which I’ve never done it says for you to unplug it if you’re gonna be gone, I haven’t checked mine. I’m just gonna unplug it for a day or so and see if it works.
thank you for this is saved me the money for service which will cost me almost half of the price of the dispenser. tip i learned is to replace the empty bottle right away when low water indicator shows to avoid ice build-up.
Glad it helped, and thanks for the tip
Thank you for posting this video! I was a week in of leaving it unplugged for 24 hrs every couple of days and 5 RUclips videos in. None of the company videos were helpful. Customer service said my dispenser was no longer under warranty so I needed to find an outside technician, that got me heated. My cooler had an extra secured attachment inside I had to figure out. But the reservoir was full almost to the top of a block of ice. There wasn't any water to be scooped out. I think a day or two unplugged may fully thaw it.
Thanks for sharing. Hope this work out for you.
omg..I was just having trouble on our dispenser and I watched this video and solved my problem...thank you
You’re welcome, glad it helped
Just wanted to thank you for this video! I tried looking online to troubleshoot why my water dispenser randomly stopped working overnight. Nothing worked until I saw this video, turned out it froze over and watching your video helped me get it working again! Thank you so much 😊
You’re welcome glad it helped
Thank you so much! I just opened mine up and saw that it’s completely frozen to the top. I would have never known. Hopefully it thaws out quickly
Hope it work out for you
Thanks so much! I unplugged it for 2 days so it could thaw and we just replugged it back in and it’s dispensing!❤🎉
Glad it helped
So if it keeps freezing after 4 days does that mean I’m toast? :(
@@CekiNinja yeah, I end up buying new one.
@@ChadHer Awww man :( Thank you!
Thanks I've been so angry and thirsty but you made my life better. 🤗
You’re welcome glad it helped
not angry and thirsty😂
Can you just unplug the machine overnight and hope the water melts on its own.
Pourquoi l'eau gèle ?
Thank you! I opened mine up and it was frozen solid. Defrost time!!
Hope it helps
This fixed my same problem but it keeps freezing overnight? I tried researching but no luck on how to turn down the temp to prevent freezing over.
Mine doing the same, please share if you find the solution
@@ChadHer From what I read on forums, is that people have been buying an appliance timer to set times to cool the water throughout the day. the only caveat is the hot water will be shut off too during downtime. Ill give this a try and follow up if any progress.
@@ChadHer Update: ive been running an appliance timer ($6 at walmart) for 48hrs and seems to resolve the freezing issue. No freezing, water both hot and cold. Try it out yourself if havent yet. So far worth it.
I set my timer to turn on for 1hr then shut off for 2.5hrs and repeat through 24hrs cycle. Good luck
Omg thank you so much. I did exactly as the video and it works great now. Thank youuu 🎉
Glad it helped
Gracias porque por tu explicación, evitamos vatar la maquina .
You’re welcome
Why does the water freeze is my question or is this normal? How often do I need to thaw it out?
Water freezes is not normal
Thank you so much your video is very helpful 👍
Glad it helped
This just happened to me and I'm letting it thaw out for mine was solid ice to the lid not leaving me any space to displace hot water. Does this happen when there's something wrong with the unit? Or will it not happen again for a long time?
If after all thaw out and still freeze up again then something is wrong with the thermostat.
Ok maybe I’m doing something wrong, but I can’t get the top cover off. Have the screws out from the back side, it’s the front not releasing.
I just pry mine open
For the past 3 months Ive been turning the cold option off for a hr or so and it'll work for couple hours and it'll freeze again. How do I get a permanent fix?
The thermostat maybe bad
Yes but the problem is this keeps happening I had already figure this out my self but it keeps freezing after a week or two so I came here thinking he figured the problem as I can do the same but it will keep freezing after two weeks hopefully some one can make video of the cause and how to fix it
Replace the thermostat
This is what was wrong with mine, any idea what is causing this?
Probably a bad thermostat
@@ChadHer so do you have to do this every so often to yours? I really don’t wanna spend another 170 on a new one or overpriced parts lol
How many screws to take the top off sir?
Its been awhile so I can’t remember, but I think no screws. You just pry open.
After it defrosted did the water cooler work again
Yes it dispense fine
thanks
You’re welcome
How do i open it
After removing the tubing you may need to pry the lid off
👍👍👍👍👍👍
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
My dispenser continues to freeze up. What else can I do?
What about the hot water? I have no hot water flow
Probably hot water line frozen as well
What if I unplugged the water cooler and let it melt on its own for a couple of hours?
Gonna work? or should I open it up and do what you did?
Yes you can unplug it but will take overnight to completely melt all the ice.
@@ChadHer
Thanks mate, it worked out.
Have a nice day
This worked for mine too! Thanks for the video!! Just a suggestion, use a turkey baster to empty the water tank. Much appreciated 👍🏾
Glad it helped
Thank you so much for posting this video! When mom in laws cooler quit working we thought it was a bad pump-then found your video and sure enough the reservoir was a solid block of ice!!
You’re welcome glad it helped
😮thank you, mine was full of frozen clear water and the bottom was white frozen. Now I can tell my friend how she can check hers to get it working. Thank the Lord for having patient people people solving problems that the company doesn't even us how to fix it. They just want you to buy another $200 dispenser. Thank you so much❤
You’re welcome, glad it helped
Very helpful DIY. Hot or cold water was not coming out from dispenser. I followed each step and water is flowing now like a river 😅. Thanks for sharing this skill. God bless the eyes that reads this and show you his amazing love, salvation and grace. Amen 🙏
Glad it helped
So what happens when it's not working or dispensing HOT water?? I have the one that does not water and/or coffee.
The water might be frozen
I unplug the 1st tube but notice the end of it was not attached to anything so I stopped. Would anyone know where that would go. My Primo model is 601298, its almost similar to the videos.
Let us know if you figure it out
Thank you so much works perfect Nobody believe in me at first but the satisfaction at the end priceless
Glad it helped you
After watching so many other videos suggesting basic fixes, this was the ONLY one that pointed out this situation. My Culligan doesn't have a thermal adjustment but it has the option to turn off the cold water so I just did that because I don't want to have to deal with this again lol. Thanks so much for the video! Surprised nobody else has made a vid on this cause.
Glad it worked out for you
Thank you for posting this. It worked! We thought the pump was broken and were ready to order a new dispenser. Thanksagain!
You’re welcome glad it helped
Thanks so much😊. You saved me a lot of money in repairs. Keep what you do. 👍🏾 👍🏾
Glad it helped
Bro, cold water and cold weather equal ice. Stupid ole me. Thank you so much 😂😂❤ 🎉
Hope this video helps you out
Mmm, I am so skeptical about this one.
When you turned it back on, and let it run again, did the ice return or not?
I disconnected mine for 6 hours and let it come down to room temperature and I had flow again.
I plugged back on again and let it run for 7 hours and there was no flow.
I re did that again but now for 24 hours and it came down normal. I turned back on and yea yeaa, ran for a couple of hours and again it stopped.
I wonder if this was just a temporary fix of yours or how did it go from there after you poured boiling water.
Yea it did freezes back up. The thermostat might be the problem
That's great...but WHY did the water freeze up like that? It's supposed to be a water COOLER, not a FREEZER!
Something probably malfunction, I couldn’t figure out what cause it to freeze.
A couple of things. It's either got a freon leak or more than likely the thermostat needs adjusting or bad. It's not telling the compressor to shut off. On a top load cooler it's an easy fix. The bottom loaders are different because everything is compacted together. Primo doesn't have a service center nor do they sell replacement parts. All you can do is either keep thawing it out or replace it
I feel cheated watching this. It froze up again. Is it a thermostat issue?
Don’t feel cheated, it’s a free fix you won’t find it anywhere else. But yes possible cause is bad thermostat.
You win the prize. Was all iced up. Thank you!
Hope this helped
Can I just turn it off and let it defrost?
Yes you can if not in a hurry
@@ChadHer worked great! Thanks again
lol! All you have to do is unplug it for a couple days and then empty the tank and flush the system and clean it.
If you don’t mind waiting.
MVP!!! I called the customer service and you have more knowledge than them. Mine it’s frozen all the way up. Not even able to fully release the white cover.
Hope you get your thaw out so water can flow again
So if I unplug it because my machine has hot and cold water, will it just eventually thaw out?
Thank you for sharing your video just fixed mine that wasn't working with the same problem the same issue!!!😀
You’re welcome glad it helped
A bad thermocouple caused this to freeze over, it's fine getting that frozen ice out, to make it work again. however there was a problem to begin with to make this happen.
Thanks for sharing
I’m having the same problem. Hot nor cold water dispenses. I only took off the top part. Seen that the tube you disconnected first, is loose at the bottom on my end. Is the bottom suppose to be connected to something ??
not really sure what the other end connected to, I didn't check mine.
Did not work for me. Why does it ice up in the first place. It’s the thermostat that stopped working that needs to be replaced.
Yes it’s probably a bad thermostat
Thats wild i had same problem with mine. The reservoir was a solid block of ice. Cleared put and working like normal now.
Glad it worked
Thank you! You just saved me like $180 or more. Awesome video
You’re welcome glad it helped
Oh yaa, unplugging and leaving it overnight did the trick. Thank you for the tip on, it could be frozen😊
Unplug overnight is better if you not in a hurry
Thank you so much! This was the issue with mine. Never would've imagine that being the issue or to even look there. Mine was a big frozen block that was easy to simply pull out after thawing out a bit.
Glad it works. Sometimes the water line frozen too so not bad idea to leave it thaw out completely.
Thank you
After numerous useless videos all telling me to check my hoses... this was the issue
You’re welcome, glad it helped.
Why the water frozen in the container? why the compressor didn't cut to avoid low temp to frozen condition?
Bad thermostat
thanks for de video!!
i have a cuestion, it will freeze again? or is it one time thing?
If you have a bad thermostat it may freeze up again
not the same model (mine is a 601258) but the insides where exactly the same and I had nothing but an ice block in there...currently waiting for it to melt. fingers crossed! thanks for the video!
Hope it works for you
Hope it works for you
I did this and it worked but it froze again is this a temporary fix or permanent???
Your thermostat maybe going bad
Mine keeps refreezing I was told could be a low Freon cuz they shouldn’t freeze up
It can also be the thermostat too
How do you get it to not freeze again? I followed these steps but then it froze all over again ?
If you figure it out let’s us know. I end up buying new one. It may be cause by a bad thermostat.
Thank you your a G the G is for Genius my fam was dying of thirst 😄
you're welcome. glad it helped.
This worked for me! I screwed up a bit and forgot to leave the hot water for the last round before screwing things back on. I just unplugged it and waited a few hours, and it started working. That last step is important! When I first tried the water dispenser, no water was coming out. After waiting a few hours, water came out. I assume, as the video mentioned, there was ice somewhere along the hoses which needed to defrost. I only melted the ice in the tank and not the whole system. I'll be sure to follow directions next time.
Glad it helped
I was so ready to throw my water dispenser out after checking all the hoses/tubes and nothing was disconnected. Cooler would come on, water would go in, but no water out. Sure enough, opened the lid like you did in the video and there was a huge ring of ice halfway up the inside container. Fixed! Thank you!!! You saved me serious $$$$$! ☺
To anyone with this issue, Primo's videos mention nothing about this- just check the hoses, etc. RUclips saves the day!
You’re welcome glad it helped
But what is making the condenser run continuously? Is the thermostat not working? A stuck relay?
That’s the possibility
That’s the possibility
OK well none of my water is working on mine not even the hot, so how do you fix that?
Did you thaw out the ice from your machine?
Once I disconnect the tubes, I can not for the life of me get that plastic piece off to look inside.
I can’t remember how I did it but I think you have to carefully pry it open
@@ChadHer I tried and only one half comes off and the other side just WILL NOT. I'm letting it defrost a bit and maybe the ice is just too far up
Yeeep mines frozen solid....Thanks!
Hope this helps
Thanks for sharing! Fixed my issue
Glad it helped
wat about the hot side? wat do i do if the hot side doesnt dispense water??
Does the cold water dispense? If not it may froze the hot and cold line all together, try thaw out overnight.
How do you keep it from happening again?
I think you’ll have to replace the thermostat
And then it freezes up again! Duh
Possible due to bad thermostat
Ok. But what caused this to happen?
Probably a bad thermostat
Or leave it unplug a day or two let the water melt itself.
Yes
OMGG Ty ty ty! I was going crazy… also does yours have a pipe just hanging there on the side? Or anyone in the comment section?
You’re welcome glad it helped
Yeah I have that extra pipe hanging out the side too. I was wondering if it’s an overflow valve or just something to allow air into that area so the water flows.
Thanks for the video I thought ours was beyond it’s life! It is a different model, so couldn’t fix same way, but it has been very cold here and we do have it close to a window so I relocated it kept it unplugged. Thank you! You saved us $$$
You’re welcome, glad it helped
This doesn’t fix the freezing issue does it?
It will fix the water flow issue but if your thermostat is bad it will freeze up again
Thanks buddy this really did help🙏🏽
You’re welcome, glad it helped
I did the same thing with my water dispenser and still no more cold water .
You may need to leave it unplug longer to thoroughly thaw out the ice in the line.
Since you get no water anyway you might as well leave it unplug overnight. If still not getting water then your dispenser totally broke.
Mine won’t even suck up the water what is the problem? Maybe just brought brand new
I miss old fashion washer
??? Huh
@@nays8618 old fashion washer works out of the box.
Does anyone know why it does it? Anyway to avoid it?
Please share in the comment if you find the solution.
Chad you son of a gun! You just saved my wallet $200! I am beyond thrilled that this worked! THANK YOU!
you're welcome, glad it helped.
Pourquoi l'eau gèle, quelle est le problème ????
Peut-être un mauvais thermostat
Ok folks I have a Euhomy water dispenser from Amazon. I unscrewed the top lid and tried to pull off the water tank cooler lid and I couldn’t! I unscrewed the thermometer and when I tried to pull off the top it was too hard until I eventually ripped off the plastic top. Underneath everything was frozen solid and I even broke the glass tube of the thermometer. Later on I used gorilla glue to mold it back together. After everything melted, I realized had I only waited, and read a comment like mine, would I not have a broken thermometer tube. So if you can’t pull off the plastic lid, just WAIT, let it melt a few days or boil water, and your cooler will be fine.
Thanks for sharing
****In our case, the water was not pumping. I could hear the motor running. I checked and rechecked the hoses, and then rechecked the dispenser CAP. Leading to the bottle itself. The Blue band around the cap had moved all the way down, so it was no longer a tight fit. Once I moved it all the way UP, the water flowed perfectly!!
Thanks for sharing
Helpful video thanks for the quick fix
You’re welcome, glad it helped.
This is very very helpful, I must acknowledge this video🎉, it save me a lot of💰, thank you. I want to avoid messing up any of the delicate components so I just removed the plug overnight and it worked like magic.
I wonder why manufacturer never alert us to this potential problem and the easy fix
You’re welcome, glad it helped
I have the same issue and everytime we thaw out the ice it always ices back up. Any other solutions?
mine kept icing up too after thaw out so I bout new one.
yes guys, you were no lucky enough like the guy that produced this video, the real problem is the temperature sensor located between the tank and the PC board, i will check the availability of this sensor on google, so long!!
@@excelair2000 Did you ever check the temp sensor or it's just best to buy a new cooler?
Great video on how to fix a problem, however next time use a turkey baster to get water out of reservoir. Just a suggestion. I had the same problem turns out the cold water adjustment I played with to get colder water on the back of the unit and it froze up. Remember , the water reservoir goes to both the hot and cold faucets. When it freezes up you don't get the hot water either. Thanks !
Thanks for sharing
What a complete waste of time
Thanks for watching
so you found the problem, but why did the water dispenser suddenly started freezing up? Because it will happen again. The symptom is fixed but the problem is still ther.
The problem parts need replacing. Which need done by professionals. A thermostat maybe be the problem.
Has yours done this again? Ours does it daily. we have to unplug it nightly. I've seen other videos where you can change the temp of the water to be less cold very easily. I wonder if this would stop it from freezing up again?
Yes mine froze up again, I ended up buying new one. Pls share if u find a solution
Hoping this works! Instead of doing all that I’m unplugging for a bit and hoping for the best. We went from the cold water no longer working.. to the regular water slowing down.. to nothing
Unplugging it, is recommended if not in a rush. It well work too, you will need to leave it unplugg overnight.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
You’re welcome
Thank you so much you solved my problem, did exactly what you said and everything is working perfectly fine.
You’re welcome glad it worked
Thanks bro I just fixed ours now it’s frozen hah😮 thanks for your video saved my money to buy new ones.
Yeah mine got frozen again after thawing out so end up buying new one as well.
I dnt have that brand will that wrk for any brand
If you not sure if has the same problem, just unplug it overnight
@ChadHer
It's brand new, not even 24 hrs old it has done that from the start
