It actually worked, woah. Just some pieces of advice though, you may not need to rename it to .sa2, my TGB at least actually only worked with .sav format. And *make a backup so if anyone problems were to happen, you can just go back to the old save file!!!*
I can load both saves fine, but my sa2 file game won't establish the link cable. It says "We're making preparations. Please wait." The SAV file game is just fine. I can't find help on this anywhere.
It worked for me only I had to put both .SAV files and the ROMs in the Media folder. Don't know why but the TGB dual emulator didn't use the Save folder.
Thanks! I was able to do this with fewer steps by just keeping my roms in the media folder and my saves in the save folder. But I also only used tgb dual and not vba, so idk if that had any bearing on it.
when i try to trade from my pokemon silver to red, my red game automatically clicks cancel before i can do anything. this happened when i tried to trade on my phone too. how come?
I tried to play on TGB multiple times. Then when I finally got trading down and understood. I tried to switch games and trade a mew from blue version. Then My Load 1 for red version says new and I can't load it anymore. This whole thing is too complicated.
Bro! Superb, its working but could you please upload a video with trading from both pokemon blue! its a little confusing. For a secret its impossible for me. :)
@oTntz awesome video! I have a question. What is the purpose of having Visual Boy Advance? Can’t you just trade and play on TGB Dual? Anyway, I was just curious about that. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks in advance!🙏
Hey im not able to get tgbdual to load the files after watching videos...i was only able to do it once..and cant remember..what i did..i would sure appreciate your help...thanks
Hey I wanted to trade a mankey for a weedle from pokemon red to crystal. I did everything as you said but when i finished trading i dragged the roms back from media to their regular place and opened red first on the VBA, and before i imported the sav file i checked if my weedle was there and it wasn't! furthermore when i tried to do the same and import the sa2 crystal file there was no sa2 file in the save folder. so what do i do?
This worked for me but only because I found out TGB Dual will shorten the name of your Battery File if the file name of the Pokemon Game is too long. My Crystal file name is Pokemon Crystal is Pokemon - Crystal Verson (EU) (V1.1) [C]. And TGB Dual changes it to Pokemon Crystal is Pokemon - Crystal Verson (EU) (V1.sav Just a word to the wise as VBA doesn't do this.
Result: I can not open the .sav files with VBA. Has anyone a guess? /// Thanks so far. I was struggeling using VBA but this pretty old emulator acutally seems to work. Good Job. What I didn't understand: Why do you rename the SAV-File to a SA2-File? Can't you just make a Difference between "POKEMON RED.SAV" & "POKEMON BLUE.SAV"?
The two virtual Gameboys linked by TGB Dual use different file extensions. That way, you can trade between two different copies of the same game version.
Impressive that this video still works and is relevant after more than 7 years.
Like ross perot videos
I watched 5 videos on how to do this and yours was by far the best
You get a like
Thanks dude
I agree - thx from Germany :D
hot tip, if you can't get it to work from the save file, move the .sav's into the media folder, then it should work

really easy and works perfectly, thanks

So My .SAV red rom and my Blue .sa2 should have been able to trade. Nope.
Thanks for the video, it's still helping in 2021 lol

Hm, doesn't work here. TGB can only open the gbc-Files, no SAV- or SA2-Files - But the saved State's not available.
when i go to tgb dual folder media the savs arent in there after i clearlyput them there
when loaded the game, my battery save files doesn't exist... help
try placing the save files to the media folder, most the time the emulator doesnt find the save file and makes a new one, so just do that

Hello Dark Matter, can i play Colosseum against red rom with yellow rom, or Crystal rom with Silver/Gold?
And must both rom's be in the same language?
Hey I'm getting the message closed due to inactivity message.
This doesn't work at all for me. TGB Dual doesn't recognise or work with .sav or .sa2 files. Only .gbc files.
