Gronk is the encapsulation of the motto “larger than life”, you got a real, genuine feeling that he just loved the game of football and it rewarded him with a stellar career. Gronk is a once in a lifetime player and hopefully he sticks around and goes into broadcasting or presenting for the NFL. Get him to replace David Baker for the Hall of Fame
Those accolades don't really put into perspective of how good Gronk was though, the only reason he was just a 4x pro bowler/all pro was because of the countless injuries. Dude would have been a 10x all pro if it weren't for that.
Also would have had like 130 touchdowns with 15,000 yards or something along those lines. His body just wasn't built for longevity unfortunately, he took a beating. I personally think his body type was like a gift/curse. He was like an inflatable tube man, his body wasn't super sturdy and solid, he was always flailing his limbs around, which made it difficult for players to tackle him, but also made him prone to getting hurt.

Gronk was constantly getting his legs driven into by multiple 200+ lbs men running full force several times a game. That type of wear and tear would injure anyone.
Watching him was the first time an athlete would give me anxiety. You didn’t know what was gonna happen, he could stiff arm someone, hurdle them, drag them, run them over, but every time he got the ball you clinched cause you were nervous he would get taken out down low. I hate the way he looks at his time with the patriots, it breaks my heart but he was so fun to watch is an understatement.
You do realize he had 27 touchdown catches his first two years in New England 10 his rookie year and 17 touchdown catches his sophomore season he was used beautifully in New England I do agree that you couldn't body tackle the guy hence the reason people started taking him out at the knees and ankles and the reason he got hurt the people who say that Kelsey is better than him don't understand football Kelsey is nothing but a hybrid wide receiver as he doesn't really block and doesn't run people over or have gronks catch radius
I played tight end in college and he was the definition of the prototype every coach was looking for. Every aspect of his game was 5 star recruit. And his tenacity and toughness was underrated. The only thing that wasn’t what the coaches loved was that he was a diva for periods of his career. But it didn’t matter because he was so damn good. It’s rare to see a player dominate a position like that but he was so far and away the best tight end in history it wasn’t even close

Gronk definitely deserves top spot, and all the people saying he was “too injury prone” they just hating. To be honest it was his play style and being aggressive that made him injury prone but also such a good player and at the end of the day for how much these guys get paid as long as he leaves it all out on the field then hats off.
The thing about Gronkowski is that he revolutionized the tight end position. Up until this point, you either had TE’s who could 1.) block or 2.) catch really well. Sometimes you’d get ones who could do both ‘good’. Gronkowski did both great. He was a beast of a lineman and a beast of a receiver. His hands were amazing and he was so hard to bring down. He also played a lot less snaps than Tony Gonzalez or Antonio Gates, so of course his stats won’t be as large as theirs. Easily one of (if not the best) TE of all time.

Kelce more like a WR tight end. His blocking is sub par. Kelce is also not as big as Gronk, and Gronk played very physical. He never slid or ran out of bound. Kekce does so he doesnt get hurt. Both are incredible, and Kelce is still playing. My nod is still going to the Gronkster.

Yeah. Before all the injuries, not just the greatest TE of all-time, but also one of the greatest receivers of all-time. If you doubt that: 65 receiving touchdowns in his first 80 regular season games, 12 receiving touchdowns in his first 11 postseason games. And as I recall, for a few years, he had the most touchdowns of anyone in the league (rushing or receiving) since entering the league.

Gronk was the most dominant player I ever saw. In the preseason he caught a pass vs the Rams and dragged the defender 10 yards on his ankle before reaching for the end zone. Seeing that live, I knew we had a steal even as a second round pick.
He was Brady’s best receiver as a TE and he was also a 6th offensive lineman every play, to me there is no other TE in history that did what he could and that’s why he is the GOAT TE
