Absolutely
Should Andrew Luck be a HOFer?
@@derrellbrown7317 Andrew luck was never as dominant of a QB as Megatron was a WR. Not to mention luck also played less seasons than him
Brody 123 most definitely one of my all time favorite receivers. The legacy of megatron will never die.
Dumbest question I've seen in a long time. Of course he is.
Megatron retiring was such a punch in the gut, even for fans of other NFL teams. The dude had unbelievable talent.
He is truly missed. And this is coming from the dude who's favorite team he torched for that 329 receiving yards and basically mossed our secondary all afternoon
Yup. His and Patrick Willis’ abrupt retirements both hurt more than Luck retiring
I’m a lions fan
sds606 what’s the point of being luck into this as a comparison?
The Lions is like death row
Mathew Strafford ignored all the laws of football when he had megatron lol the guy was literally throwing passes in triple coverage

@@YourMom-sr9ub i wouldn’t say great but he’s definitely not like ryan fitzpatrick
Its because he is so good obviously if u were a middle school qb and a 6'4 beast played on ur team of course ur gonna throw to him when hes covered

Underrated comment
Now that he’s in the Hall of Fame, he should come out of retirement!
He’s the definition of a HOF wr… only thing he never achieved was a superbowl ring but look at the team he had. Same with Barry sanders, same with Dan Marino, same with Tony Gonzales, etc… a superbowl doesn’t validate your hall of fame status. Doesn’t matter position.
6 ft. 5 with a 45 inch vertical jump and a 6 ft.10 wing span. Dude was literally a monster!
Add in 4 .35 speed yah man freak o nature
@@bradleytaylor67 yeah his speed at that size is what blows my mind everytime
He's not "literally" a monster.
He's "figuratively" a monster.
Plus 4.3 40 and 240 lbs, unreal
footwork craaazy
Remember kids, if you’re a player with once in a lifetime talent, don’t play for the Lions
Lions Are My Favorite Team, But I Really Really Wish They Never Drafted Sanders Nor Megatron, I Hate How They Wasted Their Generational Talents 😔
Chris Paul Herman Moore and Brett Perriman as well. Statistically the best receiving duo in NFL history, and we still couldn’t even win a playoff game smh. It’s hard being a Lions fan.
I don’t think u have a choice if u drafted😂
LionsPride Tell that to Eli Manning and John Elway
@@lionspride9367 right!
From a die-hard Lions fan Megatron was not human. You couldn't stop him, even when in triple coverage he could still beat them by jumping over everyone or beating you with his speed. A physical specimen. The year we went 0-16 with 3, 4 different QB's put up 1331 and led the NFC with 13 TD's. Megatron you were a great and humble player. Legend.
Miss watching him so much, you knew you were watching possibly the most special player to put pads on. Generational player and even better person
He was the only redeeming quality of being a Lions fan.
Seahawks stopped him and he retired
@@Loganbub Very true. Still die-hard but it's not the same.
@@Loganbub So true. Well said
As a Detroit fan he gave us his all and we didn’t deserve him with the type of front office we have
Thats a FACT !
Who better ? Calvin or Julio Jones ?
@@Turtlemilk Julio
spiced Calvin in my opinion. He was just unfortunate with having to play with a terrible organization his entire career. They literally made him retire early🤣🤦🏽♂️
@@RedWingz802 Well I am pretty biased look at pfp but I can see why you think Calvin is better, he only had a good qb for a few seasons while Julio has had Matty Ice all his career
Calvin Johnson is the most talented wide receiver Ever, 50 years will pass after his retirement, and we won't see another like him
He wasn’t the most talented. Randy Moss was.
@@BOOLsheet sorry CJ was a vacuum
Never ever say never but overall yes CJ was more talented than Randy Moss
Cj was moss if moss was a little slower, couldn't jump as high, slightly worse at catching....he was stronger than moss ill give him that
@@gokugohan9000 Megatron > Moss ..much better blocker, better breaking tackle's, yards after the catch, never took plays off, no diva behavior. Best wide receiver ever to be honest. Just don't have the big games, bc the cursed franchise that is the Detroit lions. Ppl just now realizing how good Stafford is, would be more amazed with Megatron
The fact that before this video the only QB I could remember throwing to him was Stafford shows Calvin's greatness. Man put up 1964 yards with no cartilage left in his body outside of his nose and ears. Wasn't just tall and fast, he had all the gifts a receiver wants. Body control, hands, concentration, quickness, good routes, strength and toughness. Generational talent.
Rice’s 1995 season was far better and Rice was 33 years old. Calvin was 27 in the prime of his career.
@@357twilsonit’s nice having Steve Young.
@@chadf1368 yeah Steve young is the reason Rice was successful. So if Steve Young was the reason why Rice was successful, why isn’t Matthew Stafford the reason why Calvin was successful? You see that is a laughable argument. Jerry was an all world player no matter who was his QB
@@357twilson it’s nice having Steve Young.
@@357twilsonbro's everywhere in the comments hyping up Rice, this video ain't about Rice though now ain't it lmao
the speed of a olympic runner,
the explosiveness of a running back
the hops of a hof NBA dunker
Megatron had it all...
except for a team :(
Edit: Thanks for the likes!
Usain Bolt
Cameron Belanger Ya you’re right about the 40. It’s less than 2/5 of a 100 meter dash. Usain is not nearly the fastest in the first 40 yards of his runs, many of those Olympic runners ahead of him are running 4.2 40s. But then he passes them all up and wins. There was one thing you didn’t consider tho cause NFL GMs do care about the first quarter of a 40 for oline and dline
Um you're describing randy moss ? Calvin sure af didn't have olympian speed or the illusiveness of a running back LOL
@Cameron Belanger This is such bullshit. No offence, but "Usain Bolt" does not have average acceleration among WR's. Among Olympic sprinters maybe, and that's the best 8 in the world. Calvin Johnson was fast. Extremely fast. A super freak of nature.. but there were quite a few people that were faster (and quicker). Look at him get chased down against Dallas in this video. Hell, Sam Shields was guarding him at one point and would straight up outrun him in a sprint.
And Randy Moss would straight up blow right past him. The same Randy Moss that wasn't faster than people like Bob Hayes or Darrell Green.
NBA dunker isn’t a postion, nobody has made it to the HOF off dunk ability and the runner comment is stupid as well
The good ole days when you could easily draft him #1 overall in a fantasy league.
Him n Andre Johnson top 5 in those days
it's funny cuz the raiders didn't and then they had jamarcus russell
Tim that draft had Joe Thomas, Megatron, AP and Patrick Willis and they took Russel #1 lmfao the best LT, WR, RB, and ILB of their eras and all time elite guys
Pouch King I spent my high school years as a Raiders fan during the Jamarcus Russel era. Dark times.
@@Loganbub also Marshawn Lynch
a bunch of those catches could've easily been interceptions if megatron wasn't on the receiving end of them.
not could've, would've. Stafford threw ducks when he was with calvin, the best thing for Stafford was when Calvin retired because it made him into a QB who had to throw to humans, not artificial life forms. If Stafford had the accuracy he does now, back than. Calvin would have 5 out of the top 10 of the most receiving yards for a single season.
Nah because he's like Moss in the way that made QBs just cut the ball loose. Stafford wouldt have thrown those balls if Megatron wasn't te target
exactly. you normally don’t make throws like that. but when you’ve got a talent like calvin johnson who’s capable of catching a jump ball in triple coverage you’ll want to see what else he can do for you.
Most definitely he had like 3 guys on him at all times
Let's be honest, the defensive backs probably couldn't sleep the day before the game playing again Calvin Johnson, the man was a beast!
It's just not fair having a guy the size of a TE with the skills of a small receiver.
Most dominant receiver ever. I didn’t say fastest. Didn’t say longevity. He was the most physically talented. Range, hands. Dude was incredible. HOF for CJ.
Yes the most dominant receiver of all time..... Jerry is the greatest easily but Talent wise there is no other Moss or Calvin J
Lol this is a laughable comment. Rice was far more dominant and a much better player/receiver than Calvin or Moss or anyone else. I’m so sick of these young kids saying Moss is the most talented or Calvin is the most talented. Jerry was more talented than all of them.
@@357twilsonnah your comment is laughable honestly
@@boxcat2277 exactly how is my comment laughable?

Lynn Swann had the nerve to say, Calvin Johnson don't belong in the Hall Of Fame, because he didn't play long enough.

This is the reason he only played 8-9 years. The guy was getting beat up physically.

@TheTexasRanger 25 no where near what Calvin was

He was just simply the best Player on the Field by a large margin.
I want everybody to pay attention to the scores on each play Lions was down 90% of the time 🤦🏽♂️ its sad
What is funny is how the viewers do not connect the dots that his play is PART OF THE REASON THEYRE DOWN...Guy barely scored

Orlando Brown excuses excuses
But 90% of those games they came back and won it
Him and moss are the reason why I love jumpballs so much. Moss and jerry rice beat him statistically but if I had to choose one to play a game on my team, I would pick calvin.
Facts. Just throw it up and watch magic happen haha.
Me too. He's not a prima donna like Moss.
he also liked to block too. he is the most talented wide receiver of all time. imagine putting him on the lions now, he would be way more successful. the lions have a way better running game, TE, and solid receivers so you cant put 3 guys on him
Calvin is a textbook perfect receiver. We might never see this happen again in the NFL.
And as someone from Detroit. I’m sad he spend his whole career here. Wish he went to a better team and got a bowl like he deserved
He was no doubt the best WR in his prime. Julio Jones and AB were close behind but Megatron was a different monster. I remember seeing that guy catch balls over 2-3 people as a Packer fan was a nightmare...
Best receiver of all time no questions he was so dominant and unstoppable in every game he played
Uhh…ever heard of a guy named Jerry Rice?
Revis was the only guy to shut him down while he was heathy
@@venomousviper3691 Rice was NOT better if you compare their primes. Rice would be 3rd in my view behind Randy Moss and Calvin Johnson. The reason Rice is considered the “greatest” is because he had the greatest CAREER. In my view that is very different from who was the BEST at his PEAK. Jerry Rice simply isn’t capable or even close to capable of doing what Calvin and Randy did on the field. Both of them were much faster, could jump higher, had equally good hands (better in Randy Moss’s case), had a much larger catch radius, and were simply better overall in contested situations. There are more WR who when comparing peaks are in the same tier as Rice, and you could argue reasonably for either side. Antonio Brown, Marvin Harrison, Julio Jones, Deandre Hopkins, Sterling Sharpe, with several more right around that tier. Those are just off the top of my head, and it has recency bias. There’s no need to worship Jerry Rice as untouchable. The thing he was truly untouchable at was career longevity while maintaining excellence. He definitely had the career with the most cumulative added value to offenses. That’s indisputable, but the best at their best/in their prime? He just lacks the absolute elite athleticism of freaks of nature in Moss and Calvin.
Can’t believe I forgot to mention Larry Fitz and TO as WR in that same Rice tier at their peaks.
@@GoZags43 just because you have freak athleticism doesn’t mean you’re the goat. Look at Jamarcus Russell. Rice didn’t have the size Calvin had or the speed Moss had, but he’s just better. (Even in his prime. Get to that later) Look at Tom Brady. He never had the strongest arm or the fastest legs, but he is the GOAT among QBs. Or Cooper Kupp, the man who dominated every stat category this year. What does he run, a 4.6? He’s not even 200 pounds. But he still is the best WR in the game rn. Same with Rice.
Moss in his 6 year prime: 1395 yards, 12.8TDs per season, 15.8 average
Calvin in his 6 year prime: 1424 yards 10.3TDs per season, 16.1 average
Rice in his 11 year prime:1404 yards, 13.7TDs per season, 15.7 average
He is arguably better is his prime

Easily the most underrated receiver of all time! Should be considered the greatest receiver of all time! Had EVERY route in the route tree! Ran a 4.3. GREAT hands. Amazing footwork. Tough. AND UNGUARDABLE! Consistently guarded by 2 guys for 8 years straight! And for 5 years he was constantly guarded by 3 DEFENDERS! Other guys had great teams around them and great coaching ast last for a couple of years on their career. This guy had an average QB, a below average team around him, and more garbage coaches then you can count, but still was leading the league in touchdowns, big plays, and was most see TV!
