Here's a trick for the harness: before you start to lift the window and regulator out use a flat thin blade screwdriver, about 1/4" wide at the tip. Insert it at the top of the side of the clip, near either the front or back end. Give it about 1/4 twist. Move to the other end and do the same. The harness clip will slide off easily by hand (even on my 18 year old A4 Cabriolet).
Optional: if you want to keep the side trim panels pristine, remove the rear seat back as well. It is a challenge, but there's a great video at the Total Technik site that I found very helpful. (ex-Audi mechanic)
Thank you, the screwdriver tip worked for us and made it very easy to remove the harness. We also did remove the seat backrest and it was a good opportunity to clean a lot of stuff and condition the leather properly on our 16 year old S4.
can you show us the torx bolt near the seat belt?
Wasn't the best video but definitely help me know how to get this fix... thank you and God bless 🙏 🙌
You're welcome!
Scott! We found that since the window was in down position, prevented us from pulling out. We also took long bolts out. Window is all good now. Thanks for the video.
Good to know!
Bro I was hoping to see how you replace the regulator
yes
Lol
Thanks for the video and It looks like I will probably watch quite few more times. The rear window started to fail up top. When I finally used Rhino glue it held up but I think I made it to tight.
"Here's the first step!" **doesn't actually show first step**
Do you pry it up, forwards? Took me a bit to realize you meant near REAR seatbelt, rather than rear! It helped to raise the convertible top a bit to get up and out. That's always the scariest part, prying stuff when you're not sure of the clip location..... Welp, good thing I have the factory info but still, please try and SHOW any steps you discuss in the future, thanks! :)
The white piece in there gets stuck when below the metal hole. Any clue how to fix? Wont come back up after
What’s the name of the company that repairs the regulators ?
Window motor world in Florida
Where are located in fla I need both rear done
Tampa, St Pete, Clearwater, Sarasota, Pasco.
@@PowerUpAuto ok thanks I'm in polk county
my rear glass does not close all the way, there is about an inch or so. Would it be the regulator or the glass is off on the regulator. Its a cabriolet !
Probably the regulator.
I can't find the torx bolt to start this. Please help.
How did you pull the regulator out so easily with the window on the down position in the cabriolet? I've been at it and I can't figure out how to do it.
You can cut the metal cables if that makes it easier to move the glass to a position where you can get it out. OR Drive down to Florida, I'll show you how its done.
@@PowerUpAuto Would love an excuse to drive down to Florida from Iowa in the winter! For now, I'll try cutting the cables. What did you do when installing it with regards to the glass being in the up or position on the regulator? I assuming that it's the same with an S4 cab vs an A4 cab.
@@omarahmad25 Once you get the new regulatort assembly in you can plug it into the wiring harness and move the glass up or down as needed.
@@PowerUpAuto So, i got the regulator out! I ended up unscrewing the glass to do it. I transferred the glass and the motor to the new regulator and I have it back in the car. However, I can't manually move the window up and down. Does the motor care whether the glass was up or down when it was removed from the old window? Does the harness have to be plugged in to move it manually? Sorry if that's a dumb question. I'll like to be able to move the window manually before I put everything together.
@@omarahmad25 Plug in the harness. That should allow you to move the glass up or down if needed by pressing the switch.
Hello can anyone help me with the part number of the electric module that is behind the panel, the one that had to be remove in order to remove the window regulator.
The haaudess paaat is the haaness
Loool he screwed the video at the key part of the whole operation 🤣
Why would you even post loool
unable to pull the glass out.
So we found the torx. Had to break the clip in lower left of panel. Should have pulled outward and then forward.
