OK, about Onslaught: So, Magneto fucked up and removed all the Adamantium from Wolverine's body. Xavier got pissed off and shut down Magneto's mind, rendering him catatonic. Magneto's evil influence and other dark shit from Xavier's past combined in Xavier's head and Onslaught emerged as a second personality in his mind, eventually breaking off into his own entity.
Internet Jesus Exactly. Then, nearly all of Marvel's heroes fight Onslaught and are "killed"...only to be saved by the son of Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman (Franklin Richards) by being transported to another dimension, where they then return to Earth 616 in Heroes Reborn.
Ryota Niitsuma unfortunately banished Captain Commando from the MVC3 roster and demoted him as a hollow Heroes & Heralds card in the Ultimate edition to MVC3. Captain Commando was playable in that non-Fighter game, Project X Zone 2 & there's also that CapCom Beat 'Em Up Bundle. CapCom hasn't exactly "forgotten" the Captain but MVC2 is the last crossover Fighter-game that had him as playable & that was all the way back in 2000🤔😔🎮
Marvel VS Capcom The game where I discover who Captain Commando, Jin Satome, Morrigan, & Strider Hiryu & witness the fighting game debut of my favorite Spidey villain Venom & classic gaming icon Megaman MvC 1 is still the best in the series even with it's 16 characters.
AgentKyo me too i didn't know jin, cap commando and strider but they were so cool to watch. And this megaman is the best megaman character imo. Rush Drill, Fish cannon and mega transformation.
Well I won't cut out Shadow Lady of the roster since, contrary to Liligan, war machine mk1 hyper venom and carrot hulk who are pretty much character variants, she plays completely different
Seeing a game like this in action can be considered a milestone for any gamer. It opens their eyes to a cherished era of video gaming where the Vs. series came from. This shows the staying power of the classic games and the legacy that they embody. Btw the first Vs. series game I came across was Marvel vs. Capcom 2 at FunTime America. Although I didn't know at all how to play it or arcade fighting games in general, I was mesmerized by the characters it featured.
A buddy and I visited a small basement arcade recently and they had an MvC cab. He had never played much of the original MvC and I had never played it on a cab before. Regardless, we both genuinely lost ourselves playing it. A good 40 minutes passed before we realized we should probably force ourselves to stop playing to give someone else a turn. It reminded me that although MvCI looks disappointing, these games will always be fantastic to come back to and experience.
I love jin's shoma voice in this game. His grunts, the way he says his moves and the noise he makes when he does a dash forward/backward. They're very cool to me.
Fun fact: In the PS1 version, Mega Man actually retains the core aspect of his franchise - Defeat a boss, get that boss's power. In this case, that boss is Onslaught, which has Magnetic Shockwave. All other versions have MM with MS at the start. That said, it doesn't make up for the fact that MvC1 on PS1 is basically Street Fighter with assists...
I remember playing this at my local arcade. I was blown away at the concept, as Street Fighter II was my second favorite video game outside of Super Mario World, and I was an avid fan of Marvel’s roster of heroes. The visuals wooed me, especially Venom, and still serve as some of the finest character sprites of all time. I feel the backgrounds were far more interesting than MvC 2 and the presentation feels more consistent. There are no fluff characters in the roster, nor are any characters OP, which was an issue future iterations. MVC1 hits the sweet spot between being a more serious fighting game while maintaining the chaotic energy of future entries. Just bought a copy for Dreamcast, cannot wait.
I'm pretty sure most of us liked that super, but I'm thinking they took it away to diversify the powers a bit. And she has so many tools in UMvC3, if she had this too she'd be way too overpowered.
John Syers the other reason is, Finishing Shower was her unique input special in Vampire Savior, along Cryptic Needle and my theory is, the Morrigan on MVC3 TVC and MVCI are the Morrigan before becoming complete with Lilith contrary the Morrigan on MVC1 and 2 If you notice, Morrigan 2 in MVC1 uses a variant of Finishing Shower called Brilliant Shower along her EX version of Shadow Blade as Splendor Love
This game was so much fun back in the day... Also I noticed something, when Max fights an AI character he will insult the character, but then the AI uses strider and lands a combo on Max and what does he say? "Nice." He really likes the character, doesn't it?
this is also my favorite in the series, i was never able to compete in MVC2, but when i play this one online and see players spamming the helper i know theyre coming from MVC2 and they proceed to get get utterly destroyed by me lol
I always liked 1 more than 2. As a kid I stupidly sold 2 for maybe 30 dollars to EB Games, but I kept 1. Personally, for some reason, Xmen vs Streetfighter is probably my favorite of the whole series but I'm not sure as to why.
I think the last game Jin was in (barring Card Fighters Clash) was Tech Romancer? Where he was a hidden character with no single player story mode. Now THERE was a game that should have gotten more ports than it did. I don't know why Capcom chose the Dreamcast to actually stick to their "Console Exclusives" promises, but there you go. Tech Romancer and Rival Schools 2, neither of which to my knowledge ever got ported to any other platform. Which is a shame as they are both really decent fighting games with a very strong emphasis on the single player story mode.
This was my first intro to the Vs. series. Played the shit out of it with my little brother and we were scrub lord kings. We were so bad at playing it any where near high level, but we didn't care. We had fucking fun. God bless Clash of Heroes.
My personal favorate of the series, least broken but still fun as fuck. Small roster but still a versatile roster with characters we like. Best character themes imo. Variable cross is the best mechanic imo. Assist weren't annoying like the later games imo....MVCI will never replace this game for me.
Jin And Captain Commando Need To Come Back for MVC: I. Jin FIGHTS ROBOTS And Captain Commando Is A Time-Traveling Cowboy. The New Roster Is Disappointing And Frankly I Only Want To Play As ASURA Or If Ryu/Hulk Fastball Is An Actual Level 3 Super. Like MVC and Tatsunoko Had Custom Double Character Supers.
My favourite team was always Ryu & Strider, Mega Man was another regular in my line up. I do like how they used the Street Fighter 2 intro as Ryus theme.
MvCi really sucks except for the gameplay. Roster is shit, stages are boring, hyper lvl3 sucks, character designs are shit and no xmen(marvel's coolest characters)
slifer875 marvel's best villain alongside magneto who ALSO isn't in this game.....is there any reason to buy it?? I mean it's just UMVC3 but with less characters and bad graphics
Am i the only one who played this for the first time in a pizza palor (or any kind of food establishment)? p.s My favorite marvel game, marvel 2 is a close 2nd
1) Gief coming in and bodying CapCom was hilarious 2) Capcom needs to bring back a lot of these characters. Besides Wolverine, I would love to see Gambit, Jin, CapCom, and Venom (even though rumor is that he's in Infinite)
This game is definitely one of my favorite fighting games of all time! I'm surprised to see that even Max barely squeaked by Onslaught at the end there. I never found him to be that difficult to beat.
I remember playing this game for the first time at a Peter Piper Pizza back in early 2005. My 8 year old mind was blown away from just seeing Spider-Man and MegqMan in the same game together. And now I can relive that again with Spidey and my favorite MegaMan, X in MvCI.
Man, watching this is bittersweet, because it just makes me realize how much Love went into Capcom games back in the day, and how much I loved that about them. I'm going to give MVCI a chance, but man this really makes how much Capcom has lost its way hit home.
It's pretty cool to see someone old Capcom games again. Really because it reminds us of how cool they were back in the day, making games or game franchises like this and most of the time, they would always turn out great. It saddens me to see what they've become recently with doing day one DLC, finishing a released game after release, etc.
The nostalgia this game evokes is overwhelming. The way they translated non-fighting game characters like Megaman, Captain Commando and Jin into this was amazing. The stages were some of the most awesome sauce. And oh, it's Let's go CRAZY! What ever max may say.
This is also my favorite game in the versus series. The character roster, presentation, soundtrack, graphics, and art direction are all excellent. It should also be of note that this was the last versus series game to use a six button control scheme.
I have the same picture Max has for the borders of this video cuz I own the CAPCOM Design Works art book, & I recently noticed that Morrigan was eyeing Megaman while Roll was what I can only describe as 'hard hugging' Megaman while Roll was staring daggers at Morrigan.
This game was the best of the series. Bar none People might like MvC2 more but that game not only looks like ass with those awful 3D scenarios, but the gameplay is fucked beyond belief. MvsC3 is just the same mess if not a tad more organized That's why I'm happy Infinite not only goes back to 2vs2 but also the roster is much smaller
Agreed, MVC1 felt the most balanced, colorful and fun game out of the whole legacy, not bad for the first entry of the series,MVC2 introduced a lot of characters but its forgetful to me, my favorite is UMVC3 due to the fast-paced gameplay and characters.
NotMadeByMe Yep. Also basically because of how the 3d plus those special effects were jarring as fuck compared to the sprites, didn't they also cut lots of animation frames? And I'm not saying 2d combined with 3d sucks, SotN uses exactly that and it's still beautiful as fuck same with CvS2, in MVC2 not so much.
Good times playing this at Best Buy during the Dreamcast launch. I still remember they had the big giant screen where u can see what was the most recent release or popular game at the time. This def makes me miss the 90s.
ARMJJB Thats a good question. There was Tronne Bonne in a mech, and if they can give Modok a moveset there is no good reason Dr. A Wily hasnt been playable apart from Capcom being terrible to Megaman.
I played the heck out of this game as a kid at Walmart and the arcade. I had no idea who Jin, Strider, or Cap Commando were but this game was so good, my second favorite in the series behind XMvsSF. I cant believe this game is NINETEEN years old.....ugh. Man i feel old.
After much trial and error at the arcade, I eventually made my main MvC1 team: Shadow Lady (secret character, the result of Bison capturing Chun-Li and altering her with cybernetics) and Complete Change Ryu (only used the "Akuma" moveset) with Shadow Charlie as my primary assist (him or Cyclops). Good times...
Also that ending Max hit the nail on the head. Capcom used to show how much they loved their characters with these game but now to me it seems all about the money.
For the longest time, I've misheard Gambit's 'Kinetic Cards' as 'Credit Cards' and I was sitting wondering why the hell would he waste credit cards on his attacks. XD
Ok, so here's a bit of fun info. So, Jin is the Main Character for Cyberbots. He's actually slightly based on Domon Kasshu from Mobile Fighter Gundam G(Sorry I don't know it's western name). His wierd ass Flaming Tornado move is actually a direct reference to the show, Domon used that move when he fought against his master who also used the same move. But contrary to all his moves in the Marvel vs Capcom series, he was actually a pretty serious character in Cyberbots , to the point where his Gundam G-like moves don't really make sense, unless you know the fact that he was based on Domon Kasshu. I was actually quite surprised by his move set in MvC, as it was completely different from his character. It made sense in Gundam G, because while Domon also had a serious personality, pretty much every one there had one or two ridiculous moves. Not so in Cyberbots. I actually hope for him to keep some of his Fire kicks and those Drill Kicks(although they could make those kicks look less like a mechanical drill and more like an spiralling energy). Personally, I wouldn't mind him having his Tornado changed to a similar but not as comical move, or having his clothing burst move changed into something else, although I don't really have a problem with those fan service reference moves.
I would have love to see captain commando, jin saotome, hayato, and b.b.hood in mvci. They would have been returning characters but i wouldn't care because they wasn't in umvc3.
I definitely love the soundtrack as it greatly captures each Fighter. Captain America's theme is definitely great as it definitely captures his justice and patriotism Spiderman greatly captures his laid back attitude
The feels when the ending credits say "special thanks to capcom staff and YOU " capcom doesn't do that anymore:(
Robert Garcia why should they? /s
Just Sammy who knows
Just Sammy naw I'm playing it just shows that they still care about their fans even with a small statement like tht is pretty powerful
Robert Garcia It was back when Capcom showed not only passion and care to its games but it's fans too
Carl Bloke 💯 true man.
The art, the mechanics, the soundtrack, that signature 90's capcom sound. Perfection. I'm glad I had this stuff in my childhood.
Same Here!!! 👌🏿🔥💯
Dude, pick up the Arcade1up if you want it in adulthood as well!!!
@@chaos242 Got a AtGames Legend Pro with CoinOpsX now. Having a blast with it.
@@chaos242 - I Already Picked One Up! I Got The X-Men One And It Has MVC 1 On It, As Well As X-Men Vs. Street Fighter And X-Men COTA! 🎮🔥😎👌🏿💯
U wouldnt regret having this as ur childhood game
OK, about Onslaught:

Internet Jesus wow, it sounds really shitty and overcomplicated... -_-
It's a masterpiece compared to today's comics, unfortunately. I quite enjoyed the ride.
Internet Jesus No joke. Marvel was awesome back in the nineties.
Internet Jesus it really was a great comic
One of the best looking games of all time, in 50 years from now people will still be able to appreciate the CPS2/3 and NeoGeo classics.
Snazzy Crowd1212 Amen
WE DON'T NEED 50 YEARS, THEY R ALREADY TIMELESS RIGHT NOW.
=)
"Your comeback will be short lived, Captain." Damn, even Onslaught knew Capcom would forget about Captain Commando.
Ryota Niitsuma unfortunately banished Captain Commando from the MVC3 roster and demoted him as a hollow Heroes & Heralds card in the Ultimate edition to MVC3. AgentKyo Honestly I think it's 3. Most balanced, mostly cool cast.
Well I won't cut out Shadow Lady of the roster since, contrary to Liligan, war machine mk1 hyper venom and carrot hulk who are pretty much character variants, she plays completely different
The sprites in these games are gorgeous! I was crushed when they moved to 3D models.
Glad he picked Jin and Captain Commando.
I freaking love captain commando

I wish Jin and Captain Commando were back, I would love to see them in 3D
Me too!
The Gaming Koopa And Venom with B.B. hood
Fernando Rosales And Ruby Heart and Sonson!
+Fernando Rosales yeah i used to main b.b hood in mvc2 i wish she come back someday
The Gaming Koopa Regardless of the awful roster, I'd buy it for Jin and Cap. Commando. Capcom missed out for cash grabs

the assist limit was a great perk because skill is needed.
The music in this game is ridiculously nostalgic!

I still miss morrigan`s soul eraser super =/
likewise. I liked that one much better than the current one she has. they need to go back to the soul eraser
Gabriel Cardoso Ribeiro actually. I do too... it looked nice.
I'm pretty sure most of us liked that super, but I'm thinking they took it away to diversify the powers a bit. And she has so many tools in UMvC3, if she had this too she'd be way too overpowered.
What we really need is the eternal slumber super! Now that was so sick back in the day!
John Syers the other reason is, Finishing Shower was her unique input special in Vampire Savior, along Cryptic Needle and my theory is, the Morrigan on MVC3 TVC and MVCI are the Morrigan before becoming complete with Lilith contrary the Morrigan on MVC1 and 2

onslaught is by far the best final challenger in the versus series, in my personal opinion
i miss Captain Commando and Jin
Your not the only one
captain commando would have been so fitting for the story mode in MVCI
How the fuck do they not add Captain Commando in infinite?!?!?!
probably the same reason as the x-men...
He's owned by Fox?
No, because "nobody would know who he is."
But like.... Spencer tho...Arthur....
It seems Capcom just doesn't like Captain Comando anymore.
Best character select screen and music EVAR!!!!
My function is unmatched!!!
8-Way Dash Function Nova owns now ur function.
He might have my function, but i'm irreplaceable in the eyes of many fans except for Crapcom.
Who is the yellow and blue guy with the claws on his hands? I seem to remember liking his functions as a kid, but his name escapes me.
Damn, that character select theme gave me a nostalgia attack.
this is also my favorite in the series, i was never able to compete in MVC2, but when i play this one online and see players spamming the helper i know theyre coming from MVC2 and they proceed to get get utterly destroyed by me lol
R.I.P Len Wein co creator of Wolverine, Colossus, Storm and Swamp Thing.
I always liked 1 more than 2. As a kid I stupidly sold 2 for maybe 30 dollars to EB Games, but I kept 1. Personally, for some reason, Xmen vs Streetfighter is probably my favorite of the whole series but I'm not sure as to why.

Fun fact about Captain Commando, he was originally supposed to be Capcom's mascot, get it CAPtain COMando.
Ben Albeyta Ooooo I din't Know That......
I think he actually was for a short time, but Megaman displaced him.
LET'S GO CRAYZAY!
CLASH! select characters!
Max: "LET'S GO PAYDAY!"
This was my first intro to the Vs. series. Played the shit out of it with my little brother and we were scrub lord kings. We were so bad at playing it any where near high level, but we didn't care. We had fucking fun. God bless Clash of Heroes.
the days when a super actually did damage.( i mean they did in umvc3 as well) now supers are just chip damage(if u end a combo with them)
oniuserjh I personally liked the way supers worked in 3 (except the mashing part of supers)
oniuserjh agreed
Remember MVC1? Y'know, the game where War Machine replaced? Yeah, it will never happen today.
My personal favorate of the series, least broken but still fun as fuck. Small roster but still a versatile roster with characters we like. Best character themes imo. Variable cross is the best mechanic imo. Assist weren't annoying like the later games imo....MVCI will never replace this game for me.
B4.DA.$$ damn straight I have some very good memories with the first game also the soundtrack won me over
ladynikkie your a good son
I remember playing this for hours on my Dreamcast. So many good memories.
WHY has Soatome been in so few games....I loved playing as him.
Jin & Captain Comando, I wanted them both in MVC infinite (boredom).
All I want is a Capcom Vs. Collection.
I want Infinite to be good, but even if it's not, there's Dragonball FighterZ. That's good.
And Tekken 7
Goochikins and blazblue cross....something......RWBY
MvCi really sucks except for the gameplay. Roster is shit, stages are boring, hyper lvl3 sucks, character designs are shit and no xmen(marvel's coolest characters)
you forgot to mention Doom (marvel's coolest character)
slifer875 marvel's best villain alongside magneto who ALSO isn't in this game.....is there any reason to buy it?? I mean it's just UMVC3 but with less characters and bad graphics
Am i the only one who played this for the first time in a pizza palor (or any kind of food establishment)?
p.s My favorite marvel game, marvel 2 is a close 2nd
GhostFrom ThirdStrike in a laundry mat.
mine was at a taco shop
GhostFrom ThirdStrike my first time playing it was in a Thai restaurant while waiting for my pho
GhostFrom ThirdStrike local laundromat for me
GhostFrom ThirdStrike yeah in a local burger joint
1) Gief coming in and bodying CapCom was hilarious
2) Capcom needs to bring back a lot of these characters. Besides Wolverine, I would love to see Gambit, Jin, CapCom, and Venom (even though rumor is that he's in Infinite)
getsugatenshobankai Venom will be DLC sadly.
Damion Dixon yeah, that looks to be the case.
Damion Dixon hey as long as a fan favorite like venom makes it into the game I'll be happy since he wasn't in marvel vs capcom 3.
Although it stinks having to pay more for Venom at least he's not totally out of luck. He still has a chance.
MvC2: Cable, Dr. Doom, Wolverine
MvC3 Vanilla: Deadpool, Sentinel, Wesker
MvC3 Ultimate: Virgil, Akuma, Magneto
The hell with Infinite. I want this game back on consoles.
"Jin sacraficed himself for everybody"
No Max you jinxed it, now he will never be back.
This game is definitely one of my favorite fighting games of all time! I'm surprised to see that even Max barely squeaked by Onslaught at the end there. I never found him to be that difficult to beat.
I would love to Captain Commando to return to a MvC game.

MVC roster >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>MVC:I roster
Your spelling tests must be worse.
Felipe Perez Neither are math tests.
The end credit music omggg.
"Jin will return, I know it..."
Uh, about that...
Function vs Function: Clash of Functions
JasonDS64 Wrong game, this one is good.
B4.DA.$$ don't try to explain the people who make those jokes are jerks
Excuse me, someone called me?
Demarcus Robinson Mabey so but some people are slow and need to hear it from a smart person
8-Way Dash Function My hero 😭😭😭😭
Jin and Strider are muh boys!
Man, watching this is bittersweet, because it just makes me realize how much Love went into Capcom games back in the day, and how much I loved that about them. I'm going to give MVCI a chance, but man this really makes how much Capcom has lost its way hit home.
This brings back so many memories. My blood is BOILING!
The music that started when it was Captain vs Ryu was hardcore. Badass.
"I just want Jin, to be in a game with his big-ass robot."
Lol, Max. You almost had me there.
I still like to see captain commando and some villains as dlc, especially venom, if we get venom and commando, im good
Wow i love the old marvels vs capcom
Watching this brings back so many memories from my childhood. It really makes me sad to see how Capcom has become compared to back then.
It's pretty cool to see someone old Capcom games again. Really because it reminds us of how cool they were back in the day, making games or game franchises like this and most of the time, they would always turn out great.

Love how @4:18 does the tag team supers finally hits Morrigan almost KO’sher and says nah nothing good. 😂
"Jin will return. I know he will..." Confirmed, Jin for MVC:I?
Can only wish...
Kyaputen Faiya
Kyaputen Kicku
Kyaputen Corridor
Kyaputen SWOOODOOOO!
Kyaputen Storum... pum kya, pum kya, STORUM
This is also my favorite game in the versus series. The character roster, presentation, soundtrack, graphics, and art direction are all excellent.
It should also be of note that this was the last versus series game to use a six button control scheme.
The last mvc that was good 😭😭 wish they'd go back to this. Jin is boss
I have the same picture Max has for the borders of this video cuz I own the CAPCOM Design Works art book, & I recently noticed that Morrigan was eyeing Megaman while Roll was what I can only describe as 'hard hugging' Megaman while Roll was staring daggers at Morrigan.
Leonardo Huizar cute
"If my father were alive I could make him proud!" That's so funny and sad at the same time
Thumbs up if you want Marvel vs. Capcom to get a PS4 remaster.
I'll never forget playing MvC1 on the PS1 when I was like 4 or 5. My first fighting game
This game looks far better than Mvc2.
This game was the best of the series. Bar none
People might like MvC2 more but that game not only looks like ass with those awful 3D scenarios, but the gameplay is fucked beyond belief.

Epic-Fran! True, the 3d stage sucks, the poster arts is shitty, music sucks and main menu is shitty, this one how ever is great looking.
Good times playing this at Best Buy during the Dreamcast launch. I still remember they had the big giant screen where u can see what was the most recent release or popular game at the time. This def makes me miss the 90s.
This one was my favorite, as well. Man, what I'd do to have six attack buttons again. Infinite is almost the game I want it to be, but not quite.
Jin's Blodia Punch = OG Bionic Arm
Chun li air super is FANTASTIC in this. You can also get shadow Nash to assist.
That last stage reminds me: can anyone explain to me why the hell Dr. Wily has never been playable in ANY Verses game?!
ARMJJB Thats a good question. There was Tronne Bonne in a mech, and if they can give Modok a moveset there is no good reason Dr. A Wily hasnt been playable apart from Capcom being terrible to Megaman.
I fucking love Captain Commando's "HOOH!" shout. It's so dumb.
I played the heck out of this game as a kid at Walmart and the arcade. I had no idea who Jin, Strider, or Cap Commando were but this game was so good, my second favorite in the series behind XMvsSF. I cant believe this game is NINETEEN years old.....ugh. Man i feel old.

XD
jubile is in mugen with that artwork you can try her out sometimes
Note: Parasoul from SkullGirls had Captain Commando's colors
I'm surprised Onslaught didn't stay in the Air like he usually does on Hardest Mode and Spams moves.
Rip logan.....
Did you ever play Cyberbots? Akuma is in the home versions. It's really fun.
judgemario he did play it for the Akuma legacy
He did play it in the Akuma Legacy videos.
Still got my original copy. I never knew what game jin and captain commando were from either lol.
Damn, I had this game for the Dreamcast. I downloaded the HD version for the PS3 when it was released.
I would have love to see captain commando, jin saotome, hayato, and b.b.hood in mvci. They would have been returning characters but i wouldn't care because they wasn't in umvc3.
Dude you read my mind 😂
Courage Ekhaguere i know right as long as they wasn't in the last game i'm cool with them.
one thing that i want a lot to have in MvCi is Morrigan's Soul Eraser
I used to love playing as the baby in the captain commando arcade game
I've been trying to remember Captain Commando for years. TY.
I definitely love the soundtrack as it greatly captures each Fighter.
Captain America's theme is definitely great as it definitely captures his justice and patriotism
Spiderman greatly captures his laid back attitude
Preordered MvcI so I get the dlc characters Im so hype
