Good luck out there! I also am enlisting at 27! I have my MEPs date for the 24th and 25th.

I'm almost 28, and I just finished submitting my application. I'm joining because I want free school and a steady job, but most importantly because I promised my Dad I would join. He passed a couple of years ago, and he was my hero, so backing out of this promise is not an option. :)
need status please
I’m in the process of joining the Air Force and i’m 23. I want to join for the life lessons, skills, and to get away from my hometown
Im joining for the same exact reasons as you
Same boat, same age. Going to meps in 16 days
im 17 and wanting to join next year so bad, hopefully i can get a waiver for my childhood asthma :)
I'm 23 and ik this mad late but I come from a service family and I didn't get to see the world growing up so 1 day I told my supervisor at aafes imma show my kids the world my mother unfortunately couldn't show me and she laughed that motivated me so much more then she thought even a retired navy soldier told me u should go back and thank her 1 day lmao. Im going in January as aircraft loadmaster for the airforce if my 2nd option was a pj
I’m 24 and am studying the asvab for the Airforce right now!
I’m 28 , 5’1”, & I’ve been trying to join since last year. I’m taking the asvab again next month. I want to be able to say I put the work in & got a better score so I can begin a new chapter. I went to school, got 2 degrees, & worked a bunch of different jobs before I looked at the military & have very few people supporting my decision. All I know is I’m doing this for me & I choose to live for me. I’m single with no kids so I’m taking this shot while Im only responsible for myself. Plus I love to travel.Your story gives me hope that I can make my dream a reality & make an impact on someone’s life.
You've got this!!
Im taking the asvab too next month , best of luck to you !

So happy for you guys! Everyone has their story and yours is inspiring to so many people, including me! My parents are supportive but they still doubted me when I joined. My wife is 100 percent on board, and I know it’s a great opportunity for us and our son. We’re doing what we think is best for us. I’m glad I’m not the only one who felt pressured by family members to not join. As long as you and Kyle are supporting each other, you’re in good hands! ❤️
Joined at 28. My son was 2 months old when I left to BMT. Did a four year contract to test the waters, I like it and still love it, I am on my second enlistment and now we are moving to Europe. I have traveled to places around the world that I would’ve never thought I’d go and i am grateful for the AF.
That’s so crazy how we have the same story but I’m not married and getting Invisalign’s. I’m 26 but by the time I leave I’ll be 27

Ladies! Do y’all have emails or Snapchat to be in contact? ✈️
Congratulations! I joined the army at 27. Definitely wish I had gone airforce instead!
Thank You for your Service from an Air Force Veteran .
I’m currently 27, but came in when I was 22 fresh out of college. I didn’t feel old, but felt like I wasn’t being treated like an adult through BMT and tech school lol. Four years later, I’m happily serving. Hope you find what you’re looking for too Makenna.
Thank You for your Service from an Air Force Veteran .
You are such a sweetheart. I've been watching your videos since 2015.
I’ve been following you guys on Gott Love for years now, and it’s so awesome to see you finally doing what you’ve dreamed of!
Life is to short to have any regrets. Good luck and do what makes you happy. Peace
I'm so happy I found your channel!! Have always wanted to join but couldnt due to my legal status. Now that I can join and being 27, its kinda scary. Been watching your Meps exercises video daily trying to get these old bones to work. You're very encouraging!
I love how your story is so real life. I understand and on that same boat of wanting this and that starting college but yet wishing I will join. Now I started my journey with an army recruiter and now I want to talk to an airforce recruiter. Airforce is my focus for now. Congrats on finally joining 😊
I joined at 21, I was clueless at that time I didn't know what I was doing and I didn't even go to college. I felt like I had to discipline myself and face the world cause the way I was doing things I knew I would be in my 30s in no time and accomplish nothing. I decided to join air force after doing some research and I studied for 2 months for asvab cause I had forgotten most of the math stuff. Luckily I scored 78, I decided join as it specialist since I was fairly good with tech. The 4 years was a unforgettable experience it truly changed my life and made me a man that I wanted to be. with my 4 years basic it specialist skills I surprisingly got a job at a cyber security company they offered me 65k salary plus bonus, keep in mind I did basic it work and I didn't have college degree but they just wanted proof of experience. I know so many younger college grads with proper CS degree that couldn't land the job or even get the same amount of salary.
Very happy for you! I’m not against college by any means, but for the past 40 years, so many people have promoted it as end of all means and an otherwise poor, low-skill, uneducated, and unproductive life is what you’ll face without one. I came in the Air Force at 21, did 21 years and have my retirement, 80% disability, and civil service job doing well and I only have my CCAF.
That’s great ! What’s was your afsc exactly?

Good for you McKenna! Go for it and continue to follow your dreams. This is your time! Congratulations to both you and Kyle on this next journey.
Thanks for the support!
Words cannot describe how helpful this video was. My husband (28) and I (23) are actually both joining together but we have family members who are not supportive of our decision. My husband, however, is very supportive of my decision to join as well. My husband is currently in DEP and I had am still waiting to go back to MEPS to finish the process. When we first started the process I almost backed out due to the lack of family support, but honestly I am excited now more than ever to join. This video helped with that, thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing that with me!! I am so proud of you both!! That is awesome!!
Also, come over and message me on Instagram! I have an Air Force ladies DEP chat I can add you to!
Whopps, forgot to add my name, @MakennaGott on Instagram!

Thank you for creating this content and documenting your journey.
I can relate to having a mix of family members not being supportive and some that are. Having that “reason” for joining can really push you to persevere through that and all of the curve balls that can get thrown at you during the process. I’m also a fellow Ohioan currently in DEP awaiting a ship date.
Congrats on finally joining! I know your husband is so proud of you.
I joined the Army at 26. You will do fine. Being an actual adult gives you a slightly different perspective from that of 18 and 19 year olds. Start working out and running now.
I have been!
Thank You for your Service from an Air Force Veteran .
How’s it been since you joined?
@@AirmanVisionalso I wanted to point out my other uncle who (along with my aunt who is still in the airforce) lives in Oklahoma who did 30 years then both retired out of the airforce kinda has pushed me to try and join up recently, he said if the college life don't work maybe the military life will. (If they accept me) my aunt retired out then stayed in as a Civilian doing intelligence and my uncle went to the endin Oklahoma police department retired then went back to the airforce... no matter what else he tries todo he always ends up back in the AF. ....it's must be a grate job todo.
I’m 18 and currently in the DEP and I’ve never felt so anxious and excited!
You’ll crush it. Hopefully you can do the ultrasound careers, and have the flexibility to travel with Kyle!
I'm seriously thinking of joining! 25 year old, no career, still living at home with the parents, never traveled and always feeling like crap about life.

@@Lawltasticness any update? I'm M also 25 and considering joining
I went to high school in Okinawa and yes! It was VERY difficult to get a hold of the recruiter when I was trying to join! Definitely took much longer for me to enlist because of it… glad I stuck with it because I almost gave up UGH.
It's frustrating when other people tell you what to do when you've already set your mind to things. I'm glad to hear you and your husband came to a neutral agreement on joining and wish you the best of luck. Congraulations!
It’s funny how MUCH I’m able to relate to this video . I’m currently 27, in the process of joining and I kinda able to relate to some of the reasons why it took me so long to make this decision . I didn’t have supportive people and most of my friends and family didn’t like the idea of me joining . It took me some time to made up my mind but now I can’t wait to go to bmt 💪🏼
I just turned 18 in January and I'm graduating in a couple of weeks. I've been planning on joining for years and this video motivated me even more to reach my goals. Good Luck, and I hope you have a great experience!
Thank you so much!! Best of luck to you as well!
just my opinion but if you have any interest in tech, I suggest you to join as it specialist and they will train you. With 4 years of it experience in air force you can get a high paying civilian job, its almost equivariant to college degree plus the experience and it will look really good on your resume. You don't have to be great at math but try to get a decent score on your asvab. Look into it
I love your story!! I can relate. I'm 25 and I've been thinking about it for 4 years already, I'm heading to 5 years once 2021 ends. I really want to join but my comfort zone is holding my leg. I kind of feel ready to take that step
25 going on 26 too I think I'm just gonna go for it we're not getting any younger
Did you join?
It’s crazy that I watched Kyle’s videos in 2015 got inspired and joined the Air Force then was stationed in Okinawa at the same time y’all were!!! Life is insane
Wow, this resonates with me so much. It’s crazy!! That desire has never left me either and I’m now 26.
Some people just go, take the asvab, pass Meps, ship out and pass boot camp and THEN THERE IS PEOPLE LIKE YOU AND ME THAT HAVE TO PASS HURDLES OF LIFE TO ENLIST. IM JOINING THE COAST GUARD AT AGE 33. Went to bootcamp last years and had to be discharges. Just submitted my papers again to re-enlist. 💪🏼 2nd time to bootcamp in less than a year. I have had this dream since 2013 in trying to join. You can imagine. 😉
Wishing you the best of luck!!
I hope you're at the 331st like I was! I had some stellar MTI's there and I hope you get the ones I had in dorm 3D1!
You are an inspiration for so many young people. I’m 58 and went into the Army in 1989. Got to go Saudi Arabia and was able to get the GI Bill for college. It’s good to know there are people who are willing to serve.
I turn 27 5/15/2021 literally next weekend and I’m joining at 27 too I’m in meps passed and sworn in in DEP too

Good to see you again Makenna
My husband was active duty for 5.5 years. He separated in January, and I actually swore into the DEP a few weeks after that. I haven’t received my job/ship date yet but by the time I leave I will at least by 28 since my birthday is next month. Good luck!
That’s awesome!! Congrats! Excited for you!
I am actively working with my recruiter to get in. Your story is almost mirrored to mine and has been one of the best videos I have watched on RUclips regarding this. I am about to turn 27. I wanted to go in at 17, but my mom said no. Mentioned it again at 18, mom still was iffy about it. Then spoke to a recruiter at 20 or 21 years old which that had some issues. I am now awaiting date to go to MEPs🎉 I am super nervous, but I have been thinking about the Air National Guard for YEARS
Thank you for sharing! I’m 28 and hoping to enlist soon. I have accomplished a lot in my life so far, but I feel like joining has been a reoccurring thought for years. Glad to know I’m not the only one ☺️
Not at all! I'm right there with you! Wishing you the best of luck on your journey!!
Did you join?
Me too! I’m 27 and I am thinking about joining. I have a degree and have worked in my field, but I have always circled back to the military. I’m really interested in the medical field. That’s what I do now, but I want to take it more seriously.
I live near Huntsville AL! I enjoyed your video, thank you for sharing. I’m 22 and can relate to some of this.
Your journey reminds me of the saying “God is rarely early, but He is certainly never late.” Which lets me believe this is your moment and the exact time you were meant to join. God’s timing is perfect. 💙
Amen!
Fantastic video. Love your personality too❤ Thank you for the story! I’m thinking of joining at 28. I got a similar response from my family since I’m also a woman who isn’t buff
i enlisted in the Air Force Reserve at age 21 two months ago and i ship out for basic training on November 3rd of this year! i’m becoming a medical material specialist!! 👍🏽
Thank you for sharing your story
Amazing video ❤ It feels real and encouraging. Thanks for sharing. 😊
I wish they didn't shut down their videos, even if they had issues in their marriage.
Awesome video, and majorly respect your decision, your reasons, and I support you 100%. This new chapter of your life is going to be incredible.
I joined at 24, you will be more mature than the other airmen. It will drive you to make e5 pretty quickly compared to someone joining at 18. Good luck.
Thank You for your Service from an Air Force Veteran .
I’m 17, but I’m more mature then almost everyone my age, at least everyone I know. I’m hoping I can make sergeant before my four years are up, although I plan on becoming an officer if I enjoy it. I’m going Marines although I want to eventually become a pilot so I might switch to AF or Navy.
True. Back in 1975 I joined at 22 and made E5 (Staff Sergeant) in 3.5 years. To do that, I competed in a program called "Below the Zone" and was selected for early promotion. After 4 years I took an honorable discharge and rejoined the civilian world. I am proud of my decision to enter the AF. No regrets. I made sure I had a "guaranteed job" before signing anything. I'd do it all again.
@@GregSr same I made E-5 in 3.5 @20 getting out in a couple months age really isn’t a factor I know plenty immature complacent airmen of all ages
I was the complete opposite: From the time I walked into a recruiter's office on a whim, took my ASVAB, went through MEPS and found myself on a plane to Lackland: 8 Days!
p.s. That crooked lamp shade is killin me. :P

Very excited about this channel. My daughter is currently in high school and your documentary is providing a wealth of information! She is really excited about the air force and your channel is a wealth of "as you go" information. Keep it coming!
That is amazing! I am so glad to be of help and it is AMAZING that you are being supportive of her interest!! That is a HUGE help, keep it up no matter what she decides!!
35 Here in the middle of security clearance after about a year and a half of working toward the goal of Air Guard. My family's discouragement only made me want it even more. However, I cannot imagine getting married that quickly lol! I have the best partner (6 years) anyone could ask for, he supports this mission of mine and working very hard at 38 to join himself. But we are so happy without the government acknowledging our relationship. I'm looking forward to meeting so many people with different stories and journeys. Thank you for all your videos, so very helpful and encouraging.
You CAN:
Study-retake ASVAB to get a higher score and change your careerfield DURING your FIRST enlistment.
Study what careerfields exist...pros and cons... then make the decision.
AND....
IF you don't like your suppervisor, then do something about by getting promoted. Study and you can do it.
Also, the US Air Force DOES have military RESORTS
In Hawaii and Korea. Cost is based on your rank. Less cost for lower rank.
@19 min now Good perspective! luv it
Im 22 and I'm studying for my ASVAB and getting in shape again and hope to ship out next Thanksgiving
I'm 31 and thinking about joining. Gonna start conditioning before I even talk to a recruiter lol I need to get out of my town! And open up some opportunities for myself. Plus I really want to challenge myself. Wish I'd joined at 18 but my parents were super against it.
Love your videos. ❤️ I’m 29 and just enlisted to the AF Reserve. Currently waiting in DEP and my first UTA is coming up on 09/11
Hey! I'm 25 and considering joining the AF Reserve. How has your experience been?
You should do voice overs for reading books! Very proper and respectable voice🙏🏻
Joined active at 28. It was a good decision and the military has blessed my family and I. However, people joining should join realistically without a grand view on what they think the military is all about. There was a 40 year old that joined and was bitter about his decision before he even left tech school.
yikes, people like that kind of blow my mind
Can you share why he was bitter about his decision?
Good tip on that invisalign thing. I've been doing back and forth on getting them but now I know I should wait if I want to go to the Air Force. I was seriously wondering how you have such nice teeth when I was watching another video and thought "maybe she had braces as a kid". Invisalign is clearly worth it!
I’m 24 and trying to join the Air Force. My husband is very supportive and it’s going to be hard leaving my daughter but it’s to better our lives. I’m soo excited!!
"Better our lives" Nothin' more beautifully said than that. I hope you and your family are doing ok! Stay blessed!

Eh you're young. I just got to my first duty station, i turned 39 at BMT.
Thank You for your Service from an Air Force Veteran .
I almost joined the Navy years ago, but I suffered a foot injury and had to heal it. Now that it's perfectly healed again, I'm trying out for the Airforce or Navy again. The Airforce is my first choice, however the Navy understands that everyone's body is different and goes by measurements. Time will tell. I'm currently 27 and has lost 18 lbs so far to join a branch.
My grandma joined the navy at 18 and shes 80 now... she's never been in the best of shape nore was big or strong but she made it in and became a diispersing Clerc... She helped manage funds for the US milltary going into the Cuban Missle Crisis... She then left to be a stay at home mom and raise my Dad... So yeah who ever told you you can't join becuase your a small woman had no idea what they were talking about.
So happy for you & the decision of joining active duty Air Force. Thank you for your service, and thank you to Kyle as well. May God bless & protect you both always. God bless the USA. 🙏🏻🇺🇸

I’ve been considering joining for 2 years now... on and off...
What rank do you go in as with an Associate’s degree?
Do you have a video on your entire enlistment process?
Thank you.
I have been making videos every step of the way! from what to expect talking to a recruiter and so on! Click our channel, then videos and you can scroll back and watch through them! with an associates it would probably be E-3. I don't have a degree, but I did have college credits and will be an E-2 after basic. Here is a playlist of my videos you can check out ruclips.net/video/v9_3H8OwjKo/видео.html
Hashtag Invisalign. I just learned this and I’m a day out from my physical and I didn’t realize this would be an issue.
you can still join!! you just can't ship out with them on
@@AirmanVision ok so you’re saying I can enlist after I complete and pass the physical exam?
@@geoffreybeach yes, but you need to make sure your recruiter knows you have Invisalign before you go to MEPS, if he/she doesn't already.
If they knew, they should have told you that you will need a letter from your orthodontist, saying the date you will have them removed.
They will look at your teeth at MEPS, so just be sure your recruiter knows before you go
@@AirmanVision Can't you just leave your Invisalign off for BMT? It would slow the progress of teeth alignment but it's only a few weeks, right? Or you can't have Invisalign AT ALL while enlisted? Do they just not want someone fiddling around with it while at BMT?
