  • It is not possible to smash the patriarchy without also smashing everything that it was holding up. And as we look around at the demolition job that is occurring throughout our culture, and the smoke that is rising up from the debris, the thought occurs to us that this may have been the point all along.
Doug Wilson's Blog and Mablog videos (especially those presented in No Quarter November) are presented by Canon Press.

"If your ministry could not withstand a bad case of the flu and a ginned-up and stampeding panic, then how will your ministry do when the heavens are rolled back like a scroll, and the mountains and islands are moved in their places?
Thank you! One of the things that left me stunned the past few years was how we instantly caved over Covid. It never entered my mind that churches would close! Maybe 1-2 Sundays. Maybe. But certainly not a FULL YEAR like my church did. (Even after I warned them on April 1, 2020 that our unscrupulous leaders might take advantage. Understatement of the century.) Then they banned unmuzzled people for one week short of a second year. I was effectively alone for TWO YEARS. I feel like I am just now barely coming out of shock. My life was destroyed. I lost all my friends. I am broken.
"But a handful of men, like Strider, became rangers in the north, and decided to contribute constructively anyway, illegally and off-budget. Don’t tell anybody."
    That's why I adored him.

    • @Greasy__Bear
      @Greasy__Bear 11 месяцев назад +3

I had a similar experience. I found it paticularly annoying because I needed them more than ever and they closed thier doors. I feel I lost all of my spiritual progress from 8 years of being a Christian and developed and inflated sense of pride in my own understanding that I have had a hell of a time beating. Its doubly hard to be submissive to the church authority when they were wrong and refuse to admit they made a mistake.
Excuses are not proper to Christian. At the end of the day I know I need to suck it up and conquer my own faults, and that I dont currently have the right attitude.
At the same time I think the church NEEDS to learn from this, and making excuses is a terrible way for them to do that.
Covid was a major battle satan waged against the church, and the devil won a nearly flawless victory. he won against both the maskers and the anti maskers. very few Christian's made it out unscathed, and some were destroyed.

    • @aallen5256

Why would you not wear a mask indoors and attend your church?? This feels like a self-inflicted isolation!

    • @Yesica1993
      @Yesica1993 11 месяцев назад +1

Because I could not, in good conscience, lie and say something worked when I knew it did not! How can I stand there worshiping Christ when I know that I am lying?! My main concern was lying in front of children, especially the ones that I knew very well* because I babysat them on a regular basis.) How could I go along with the lie and support THEM being muzzled as well, KNOWING the harm being done to them?
Masks limits oxygen intake. I got lightheaded one time in the laundromat. I was reading and suddenly the words on the page were going bright and turning from pink to blue and back again. I whipped up my head to look up, thinking the power was going out. Or maybe one of the lightbulbs. It took me quite a few moments to realize I was getting lightheaded. If I hadn't pulled it off, I likely would have fainted - something that (thankfully) has never happened to me. I think that was the last time I wore it in the laundromat. Ironically, they never threw me out or said anything or even gave me dirty looks. (That I saw.) I was more welcome in my laundromat than in my own beloved church.
Masks also block your lower vision field. (Especially dangerous to elderly or vision impaired people.)
Masks make it difficult or outright impossible for deaf/hard of hearing people to communicate.
Masks force you to breathe your own C02 waste.
Masks are especially harmful for young children. Besides limiting oxygen intake to their developing brains, it prevents them from seeing facial expressions. This hinders their ability to learn that visual part of communication and emotional connection with others. It hinders language learning because they can't see words being formed.
*I have lost my relationship with all of those children that I babysat. These are children I held, fed, changed, bathed, soothed when they cried, and rocked/sang to sleep. I adored them like they were my own. They long ago forgot who I even am.
I have taken quite a bit of time to list and explain some of the reasons, in answer to your question. Please address the facts I have stated. Please explain why you apparently still support this harmful falsehood. Understand that people like me were broken, because of people like you. Know that. Thank you. @@aallen5256

"I found it paticularly annoying because I needed them more than ever and they closed thier doors."
Yep. I was dealing with my dementia ridden mother. It was hellish already. Dealing with it alone (as far as Christian support) AND being unwanted everywhere in my city INCLUDING my own church, was beyond unbearable. I honestly don't know how I survived. My biggest regret was going along with it for a while. I should have presented myself at the church doors and forced the issue. Not in a yelling/making a scene way, but just put them in a spot where they would have had to look me in the eyes and tell me to leave. (Which I would have done.) I was too much of a coward. It really didn't occur to me until a bit later. I will always be ashamed about that.
All of that said, do not allow bitterness to enter in. Don't give Satan that final victory. @@Greasy__Bear

I was one of those men who was willing to be masculine but got outlawed and exiled. The climb back up has been difficult without help, but in my case delayed marriage or vocation is not "failure to launch" or laziness, but the result of what you might call systemic oppression. Can't really give more detail without doxxing myself. Just providing anecdotal support for Dougs assertion regarding "Where are all the men?" We've been here. But us millennial bastards are only capable of so much success without help from older men. We can't lift ourselves up by our bootstraps. It's manly to persevere without help, but there is nothing unmanly about receiving help, such as discipleship and job opportunities. The older men are very ungenerous in this regard, so if they are perplexed why their daughters remain uncourted, it is largely a self inflicted injury. The church is supposed to help one another. The young men will be men, and slowly attain to some measure of security, status and influence, but it could've happened sooner. And the consequences are worse for society than for the young men, who can live on very little with contentment. Please hear me.

I can't speak to your specifics, since I don't know them. But I do know complaining is not going to help. Neither is bitterness.
Find some men/boys younger than you find ways to be a godly influence in their lives! If your church has none, find a mentorship program. Young men/boys are DESPERATE for good role models. But they don't just need "good" role models. They need godly ones. Read the Bible together. It doesn't have to be a deep study. And you don't have to know all the answers. Just read through the gospels for a while. Get to know Jesus together. Go have a cup of coffee and a talk. Pray for/with each other. For teens/younger boys, spend time with them. Get them away from screens for a while. Build their trust so they eventually feel like they have someone they can go to. Help them with homework. Most importantly, introduce them to God's Word. The possibilities are endless.
You want to be a leader? Then take the initiative and LEAD.

I'd never heard of a cotquean before. I'm glad I looked it up, though, because it perfectly describes an influencer I followed for a while. He seemed like a nice guy but I found it pretty weird when he told his followers that a wife should never have to ask her husband to fix anything around the house, he should fix things before she notices the problem. I didn't understand how that would work until he later mentioned he only works at his job 20 hours per week. I didn't have an articulable understanding of biblical masculinity at the time but that was pretty clearly not the model men have been called to. Now I know why it made me uneasy and how I ought to order my priorities (read: loves).

So this video starts with an ad for LGBT, which seems ironic but probably isn't.
How then were the patriarchy, the alpha male types exiled in the first place? Can betas, gammas and women do this? How does that not make them the dominant ones? If a biblically masculine man is exiled by the weaker Greeks and feminists, then were they really masculine to begin with?
What happened to the "Greatest Generation" of men? Did they simply retire and defer to their hippe kids? How did they end up with hippie kids?
I don't see a path to recovery here as I'm not sure once they go John Galt they will come back and the rest of us who want to but are unable to are vastly outnumbered. If I were such a man and asked to return, I would know that it would be as an expendable fixer that would be purged again once everything was back in order and decide accordingly.

@@cosmictreason2242 I am very sorry to hear that! I read your post below, but it is so non-specific that I can't say much about it.
Being masculine can mean different things to different people. If you meant being a servant to your community and chivalrous to women, then I'm very shocked that you were punished for those noble expressions of masculinity!
There are, of course, other distorted expressions of masculinity that are often propagated on the Internet and in Christian circles as well.
You say that you were punished for sharing the gospel. In secular circles this is to be expected, but if it happened in Christian circles, it would be shocking, insofar as you preached the gospel correctly.

Maybe you're right, what Douglas Wilson is spouting is probably not gibberish, but worse.
But to make sure it's not just assertions, I'll tell you what bothers me most about him and his disciples.
      - We could start with the fact that Douglas Wilson misunderstands the Bible in such a gross way that I'm not sure if it's even intentional, because I don't think he's that stupid.
      - But we could also talk about the fact that he always wants to be an edgelord who throws "truth bombs". But the things he's saying are not edgy but just sick and that the truth is usually missing from his truth bombs.
      - We could talk in general about his foul language, which is completely unworthy of a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.
      - In general, I'm also not impressed by people like him and his disciples who have super sensitive nipples when it comes to perceived oppression towards them, but who at the same time argue for systems that really take away all rights from other people and objectify them.
I can back up each of these points with very specific examples. If you want to talk about it, feel free to pick one of them.

Wow, the emotionally infantile men here are something else! I fully agree that current American society is crappy to men. I loathe that. I loathe "feminism." But biblical masculinity means you don't wallow in it. You biblically ACT. But when you give specific suggestions on how to start doing that, it's clear many of them don't want to act. They just want to forever complain and blame everyone else. Again, there are some genuine points to be made about how crappy the culture currently is to men. I acknowledge that all the time. But focusing ONLY on the problems and REFUSING to take even the smallest steps forward is not biblical masculinity.
