After a quick few tests the unit consumes 618 to 682 watt in economy mode, power was jumping around slightly, most likely the loads in the house. But close enough for anyone who wants to know.
Id love to know how many kwh from stone cold ambient temp, to 60c cutoff? The fact it uses such low wattage is great for off grid, but similarly to my clothes dryer, standard element type to heat pump, the heat pump uses less wattage but for a far longer time, meaning it uses similar kwh anyway. My advantage there is i dont max out my inverter so easily
Great setup there Craig. I think one just like that would be just the ticket at my place. The Rinnai Infinity gas backup is a good belt & braces approach.
hello Craig thanks for this video. What a gorgeous place. I am wanting to upgrade my rinnai instantaneous gas hot water system to a heat pump electric. I came across HP280 L capacity Mideo through Chromagen. Don't know anything about it. but it needs ot serve up to 6 people so this size is best. Is this the same model as yours - any further comments about the model, and how did you get to choose yours?
We only ever had our on hybrid mode. Does it just take longer to heat back up on economy. Have you done any comparison tests? Also what sort of maintenance do you do for your unit? I have the maintenance icon blinking on mine. And does your unit continuously drain water when being used or at night

Thanks for the video, Hows the midea water heatpump after almost a year of usage? will you recommend it for -5 degrees temp like in NZ ?

yea its a sick scam aint it!
Put a cover over the display. Otherwise it fades.
Totally agree, I have it covered over but want to make up a permanent cover with a flip lid or something.
