The snakes are gorgeous! So much life in such a seemingly desolate place. nice to see it's usually easy to avoid them but see and enjoy them.
I love snakes and wildlife. Such a variety out here.

It’s tough, but oh so wonderful.
Snoring - the one thing I have found that works, and is lightweight for the trail! - is Somnifix mouth tapes. it sounds scary but it isn't; you won't suffocate! And you sleep better too.
The Top Gun training school moved from Miramar near San Diego to Palm Springs I believe. So Southern California you may see fighter jets often. Especially on drill weekends.
And based on the color scheme you described that may have been a jet representing the opposition in the training scenarios that are used to train the pilots.
