For the sweetheart 5k run a beanie with hearts Powerpuff girls style would so cool. Keeping You warm and stylish.

Amigrumi seem very popular now. You could do Valentine's Day, St Patrick's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Graduation, Spring Gnomes, Spring Fairies. Or themed bags, pillows or bowls/containers.

Oh, excellent idea!!! I just needed more ideas and reminders for what we even celebrate throughout the year. I'm only a few days ahead in the year so far, haha. Thank you so much for the suggestion!!

you could crochet an applique and pin it on your clothes or I see people wear really cute headbands when they run.

Excellent idea!! Yes! An applique is quick and easy if I haven't to not have enough time to make something. A headband is pretty quick too! Thank you for the suggestion! I'll likely be doing that!

You can crochet a longish cotton washcloth to hang around your neck during the run. Tuck the tails in your shirt if it gets too floppy.

I challenge myself to work on UFO s one day a week. Feels great to finish. Have you ever done CAL ? Some of those I'm in works on scrap yarns.

    • @crochetdaybyday
      @crochetdaybyday  9 месяцев назад

That's a good idea. I should try and finish one, or work on one at least once a week. I haven't actively participated in a CAL, but I was peeking in on MJ's Granny Pop CAL last year. I made a cardigan, and have a few more I'm trying to finish, I got very excited about it, haha. I may have to try one this year, and I want to work with my scrap yarn too!

Your video inspired me to make a 2024 crochet goal list of my own! Definitely need to finish my UFO’s too - including my first shawl which I started over a year ago! And a sampler afghan from Annie’s which was my first kit purchase.
Speaking of kits, I recently received a kit to make the Full Spectrum Wrap from Lion Brand which you featured in one of your vids about a year ago. I’d been eyeballing it ever since but didn’t pull the trigger until I saw they had a post Xmas sale (and since I only recently got back into crochet after quite a long hiatus). Also ordered the Library Wrap kit from them (both are Two of Wands patterns). So finishing my unstarted kits (including the Hobbi advent) is another important goal that I’m excited about.
Also want to learn to read and follow a chochet pattern chart, and get through a good portion of my huge yarn stash (I went a little crazy on Hobbii cakes last year).
It’s great to see that you don’t seem to get too discouraged when you don’t end up meeting all your goals, and that you acknowledge what you did accomplish, and dust yourself off and continue making your next goals. That’s such an asset and recipe for success. I tend to wallow pretty badly in my failures and it’s sometimes difficult to get back on the horse.
As for what I’d be interested to see in your future videos, would you be interested in dabbling in Tunisian crochet? One day I’d like to try it, but currently I still feel I have some basics to master.

I'm so glad to hear this has inspired you to make a 2024 goal list too! It doesn't have to be long, just something that shouldn't feel like a chore. That's kind of how I felt last year, but I did want to celebrate my wins too! I know it can be stressful when there are 10+ projects unfinished, but what's the rush? That's how I'm looking at it anyway, haha. The Full Spectrum Wrap!! I love that thing! Two of Wands patterns are so fun! I'm glad you went ahead and order it! I'll check out the Library Wrap because that sounds fun! I love kits! AND! I had almost forgotten about Tunisian crochet! I'll have to do that! I feel like a blanket would be a good one for that. Thank you for the idea! I hope you enjoy crocheting this year! That's what I'm trying to do, finding the joy in crochet and knowing it's OK to not crochet every day even though I really want to. Just trying to be chill this year, not stressed. Let me know how the wraps go! I enjoyed the pattern for the Full Spectrum A LOT!

@@crochetdaybydaythe Library wrap isn’t quite as eye-catching as the Full Spectrum, but it looked really cozy, and I’ve never made anything yet with chunky yarn, so I thought it would be a good one to start :)
I like your idea of being chill and low pressure and just enjoying the process.
Looking forward to seeing what you make next! :)

Hi Nadeige! Your sweater looks nice! In Word, I have a table (I like them better than spreadsheets) with all of my WIPs and FOs for the year, my project count, and my count of how many total skeins (I don't include partial skeins) I use up for the year to keep track; each new year I add rows to the top of the table and look at the previous years creations that I have not finished and decide which, if any, I wish to frog (my current count is four.) So, I do have projects that I frog but I rarely have new plans for the yarn, I just want to be able to cross one of my many WIPs off my list - does that make sense? 5Ks... hmmm... maybe some velvet twist ear warmers to keep your ears warm as you run? Or a lip balm case holding your SPF 15 lip balm? IDK, I can't think of anything. I'm not a runner. My neurosurgeon who performed my first spinal fusion said running was awful, very hard on the joints, and that one should not run unless 'they were escaping a burning building or being chased by a hairy, scary, monster', LOL! So, after that, I stopped running. I was one of those dorky speed walkers with ankle weights & wrist weights on and the incline all the way up on the treadmill when I walked inside. I might have looked silly but I finished 5.3 miles in an hour which I consider pretty good since I am only 5'3". This year I hope to (1) finish my MIL's blanket, (2) finish the HoHoHo overlay mosaic crochet blanket I started in 2022, (3) finish Ty's memorial tribute 'Meandering paw prints over the rainbow bridge blanket' (free pattern by Amy B Stitched), (4) participate in 'Crochet with Nonna Rosanna's monthly book cover inspiration CAL (already started an abstract cat stitch pet blanket for that one), (5) make more blankets and kitty curls for the animals in the rescues, (6) maybe participate in 'Jayda in Stitches' 2024 mystery afghan CAL (she posts the first part on Friday, I will see if the design concept interests me this year). And I'd love to re-learn how to use my sewing machine, so I can sew fleece blankets for the shelter animals too. I'd also like to lose weight, but who wouldn't? I wanted to crochet every day this year but broke that one already when I got pretty sick last week and slept for almost three days straight. BTW - whenever I make a list, the first thing I always write is 'Make List' so I immediately have something to cross out and feel accomplished, LOL! Hubby thinks that is ridiculous; I think it is funny, but it does give me a bizarre sense of satisfaction and accomplishment crossing things off. 😆 Hope your new job is going well; glad you have nice coworkers, that always helps. Thank you for sharing your projects & goals with us! ❤ Meredith

I like the idea of making a catalogue of yarn and projects. Does ribblr do something like that? Helps you keep track? I think I would prefer a system like you have for that. I have to reorganize my yarn room so maybe that'll be part of it! I like the ear warmer suggestion! Especially while it's cold! I enjoy running and luckily haven't had any issues except with an old ankle injury that is still healing from 2019, or 2018. Either way, it acts up every time! I need to work on strengthening that, so maybe walking with ankles weights can help! I like that! I want to learn how to sew this year, with a sewing machine! I have a mini one I purchased last year, but it is still in the box and I haven't used it, typical, hahaha. I hope you're feeling better! Getting sick is the worst! Also, I do the same thing with lists. I always put something on there that I can cross of right away, like, "wash face" "brush teeth" super easy! LOL. Happy to have you here! Thank you for always commenting. RUclips told me you are a Top Commenter! Woohooo!! Thank you!! Love it!

@@crochetdaybyday A top commenter? Me? I'm shocked! I never would have guessed. I tend only to comment on videos of people who comment back or acknowledge my comments, I mean, if there are a ton of comments, and nothing back from the person created the video, they probably don't read the comments, so I feel funny commenting... does that make sense? I don't know what ribblr is, so I cannot compare, but I just opened a document in Word using 'Insert' then 'Table'. I have one that is my 'Project & Skein Tracker' and a 'Yarn Inventory' that helps me know what is in my stash when I am planning projects. I can email copies to act as inspiration for you if you are curious. The Project & Skein Tracker is just two columns "Projects" and "Skeins'. I keep the running totals of completed projects/used up skeins at the top and each row has the project's description with the hook size, sometimes the starting chain, in the first column, and the yarns used (brand, line, colorway, skeins of each used) in the second column. While I am working on a project, it's description is in parentheses, and once I finish I replace the parentheses with a check mark from 'Symbols'. Pretty basic, but it works for me. For the Yarn Inventory I have three columns: 'Yarn', '# of skeins', and 'Anticipated Projects'. In the yarn column I list the brand and line ('Caron Simply Soft') then each colorway I own underneath it. As I use up yarn in projects, I subtract from the number of skeins I have used up of that colorway. Again, pretty basic, but works for me. 😊❤ Meredith

@@crochetdaybyday Happy to help! I created sample tables of the kind of things I use and emailed copies of them to you as attached documents in case my descriptions weren't clear. @@crochetdaybyday PS - in the '# of skeins' columns you may notice some random longer numbers - those are dye lots (so I know not to use them in a solid colored project, but to use them as stripes or in smaller projects, I should have explained that in the email, Sorry!! 😉)
