I bought a 2000 Honda Accord 3.0 vtec with 315k. The guy before me got tired of working on it/spending money after replacing the rotors and brakes but couldn't get them to stop overheating, plus the starter was going out and the belts squeeked. Love your video man. I have a Silver 2002 Honda Accord SE 2.3L Sedan. It has 267K miles and still shits and gets. Easy to work on and as long as you take care of them, they'll last forever!
Yes the v6 is alittle more complicated to work on but it’s still very easy and enjoyable and it definitely runs well. I also just hit 280,000 so you definitely got some more to go
Hello, stumbled across this video as I am trying to learn everything I can about my vehicle and learn how to take of it better. Proud owner of a 1998 4cyl here which is approaching 350k on the original engine and transmission!
I have the ex cg6 accord and love it. To people like me who really know automobiles i noticed the front end crash as soon as you popped the hood only because of the green on silver
The reason the front is mainly green is because that’s the oem color my car is painted an Audi pearl white but it was wrecked in the front but it came out better than original
Dope dude that’s crazy and super cool I haven’t seen too many people get into the scene because of these cars but I have seen people modify them to fit the scenes
hi i have a v6 2001 is gold i loved my as right now i replace the tranny other that never before give a problems so keep this car for longer i can good lock with you car i connecticut
Oh yeah my next honda will either be an s2000 or a civic si no doubt about it a type r would take way to long to save for and FUCK THAT CAR PAYMENT LOL!!!
I have 1998 LX 2.3L 4 cylinder model and owned it for five years since high school. It's pretty reliable, not fast but good enough. At around 183,000 miles.
I've got a v6 coupe I'm not as far as you I've only done sterio and slotted rotors. Next I'm doing headlights and tints. Then pistons ports cold air intake probably a wail tail with a hole in the left light
I got a $1000 Chevy Impala 2 months ago as my first car and while the only real problem it has is transmission stuff, I sometimes wish I got a V6 accord
I have a 1998 Honda Accord Coupe with the v6. So so so much fun. Ive thown a weapon r intake, aftermarket headers, invidia cat back exhuast, tinted my tail lights, got new led headlights, got wheels for it, and slapped a sun roof visor on it lmao but im in sc, should make a meet with some other accords lmao
@@252squad5 I felt very blessed, I really needed a car and had no money. It started when I got a key programmed, but after I got it home it wouldn't run. After replacing the fuel pump and fuses and whatnot, I brought it to a Mechanic: the wiring harness hadnt been replaced correctly, and the wires were loose and making contact with the axle and shorting out. Been great ever since
I recently picked up a 1998 Accord with a 4 cylinder, 5 speed manual transmission. It is so fun to drive! She has 300k miles, but the previous owner took very good care of her. It fires right up and runs very smooth. Really the only problems I've had with it is the drain lines for the sunroof leaking all over the floor (which was an easy fix) and a small oil leak that I'm still working on. Also, because it is a 90s Honda with stock paint, the paint ain't holding up too well lol. Other than that it is a beautiful, amazing, smooth, and fun car to drive
Check the VTEC solenoid for your oil leak. The gasket wears over time and it's common among this gen.. cheap fix, is too very sparingly apply silicone on the grooves of the gasket, clean out with brake cleaner or carb cleaner and reattach.. otherwise purchase a new gasket for 20$ at AutoZone... Also, valve cover gasket could be contributing to your leak.. just a thought
Ive got a 4 cylinder 6th gen SE. I love it and just keep driving it. It is automatic but I just don't care. I still don't care. I used to own a Mitsubishi Eclipse V6 and now I drive this. Great reliable Honda.
I'm actually a fourth gen accord wagon owner. While it didn't come with a V6 option and the aftermarket support is not as expansive as these sixth gens I really like the design of the old CB7s/9s
I also have a 4th gen CB7 and I find it interesting that after some styling deviation the 6th gen Accord seems to have reverted in some ways to the 4th gen style and is more in line with that progression in design.
You earned a sub! I just bought a 4 cylinder 6th generation yesterday. Edit: I do realize this video is old but I want to understand as much about this car platform and stuff as possible
Well I’m going to be here and posting a lot of 6th gen accord content soon but if you have any big questions feel free to drop a comment and I promise I will respond.
I would take out the v6. Drop in a k24a2 block with a k20a head. port and polish it with new valve springs. Drop a Honda AWD transmission in it. Upgrade the suspension and brakes. Then take it to the track (not drag strip)
Yea I plan on doing something similar to that with a coupe but my current one is more of a vip build. It’s probably gonna get j32 swapped and put on air suspension.
Just subbed to you! These 6th gen accords are awesome, I own a 99 accord ex coupe v6, it's a fun car to drive. Though I recommend looking for one that has a rebuild transmission. My cg6 is at 184k miles and the car hard shifts and clunks loudly when it changes specifically to 4th gear when my foots off the gas. (and slips just a extremely tiny bit going into 4th gear). And it does the same when I'm in reverse (while in motion). For example, your going reverse and it feels like the car quickly goes to neutral and slams back into reverse. Finally when I put it on drive when on operating temperature, the car barely engages to drive and the next sec, the car fully jerks into gear. My mechanic says its the axle, but another local mechanic shop says it's the transmission going... Thoughts,?
I could see it being both but these cars have bad issues with the transmission. I’ve been fighting transmission issues with mine for going on 2 years now and it’s not fun. I’d definitely Recommend if you do stick with an auto to get a rebuilt one by a reputable source because the chances of finding a new one are slim to none and continuing on that transmission may lead to further issues.
I have a 98 4 cylinder 5 speed manual transmission and love it! Definitely a fun car to drive no doubt and definitely a comfortable car to drive as well
Hello from Vancouver! I just got my first car, a sliver 2000 honda accord manual. I'm looking for used parts such as a coupe front lip in the same sliver colour. Do you know where I can get one?
Its going to be hard to find parts in the colors already because most of them are aftermarket but sometimes you can get lucky on Facebook groups and find one someone is selling that is already color matched but it’s extremely rare to find
I own a 2002 Honda Accord EX v6 coupe that I got a year ago with 245k and now 230$ on repairs and maintenance it’s still running happily 90 mph every single day down the highway with 271k. Definitely starting to show it’s age but I don’t plan on EVER EVER selling it or junking it. If I can’t help it I will have it stored in a storage unit until I find a 6 speed for it.
Yea the cars are truly amazing and if the motor and all does let go seriously consider the cl type S swap. It has a 3.2 v6 and a 6 speed LSD trans and it makes the car wayyyy faster and more fun I’m considering it for my car currently
252 Squad that’s been my plan ever since I saw a dude on RUclips manual swap his 6th gen accord. My problem is, affording one if I could even find one here in South Georgia, haven’t seen a single manual in any acura or Honda at the junkyards, other than 1 04 acura tlx with the j series 6 speed but it was burnt to the ground 😢
I have a buddy that plans on picking up a 3.2 6 speed swapped one so I plan on doing a full breakdown of how the car was done and how much it cost if you’d be interested in that video only thing is the guys gotta buy the car first
I took apart my throttle body and egr valve maybe it's just me but it sounds better and feels better there was a lot of build up in there over the last 147k miles
Nice I might have to look into that my cars slowly loosing throttle response and I’m thinking of doing that or going to a 9p performance ported and polished throttle body
Hey nice video I have a 2002 4 cylinder ex. QUESTION DUDE " Is it true you must change the hood as well if you get the coupe bumper ?'please advise your soonest before I buy one and don't need it!!! Thanks
So you don’t technically need one to do the coupe swap but it will throw off the body lines in the front. There would end up being about a 1 inch gap between the hood and front bumper and it looks alittle weird but nah you technically don’t need it it’s kinda just preference
I have a 2001 LX 4 cylinder in black. Its been misfiring and I'm still figuring out why. It was awesome until the misfire came back. The paint/clearcoat is a mess cause that was a common problem for the darker colored models.
Mine had a bad misfire issue that went away and came back and it was the coil packs kept dying and I only would replace one at a time then the next one would die so maybe it’s something to do with your plugs or something
@@252squad5 That sounds odd but I'll check. I replaced em again when the distributor got replaced cause I didnt use the exact ones the owner's manual stated but it wasnt that. Only thing I didnt do when I changed em was torque em cause I don't own one. What codes did you have? I currently have PO301 AND P1399. Based on everything I've done so far I think its fuel related (lean) because when I take out the wires for the 2 and 3 the car shuts off and the CEL goes away then comes back after driving for awhile. I saw a video where a guy was talking about the same thing. The problem was the fuel injectors. The connectors on mine cracked and their ohms is 2 1/2 numbers below spec according to the Haynes book.
Yea it doesn’t sound like my issue at all I think your right with it being a fueling issue because I can’t remember my codes but I’m 99% sure it wasn’t that
That’s do able but an easier swap is the Acura cl-s j32 with the 6 speed I’ve talked to people and it’s about 2-3k and it’s out of the box around 250-270hp
2001 HONDA ACCORD EX 3.0L FI SOHC VTEC 6CYL, im trying to upgrade mine a llittle for hella cheap. i really want to put a racing cam in it to see what my dad was always telling me about growing up. any help would be appreciated
Yea these 3.0’s are decent if you can find the parts to modify them. Best place to look for me is halferland performance or P2R racing for the Honda V6 stuff. And if they don’t have anything there you might be able to find a decent one just trying to search one on the internet
I have a 2002 Ex 4 cylinder and I fucking love driving it to and from work but I want more power so I think I’m gonna try and do a k24a swap from a 2004 Acura TSX in the future
I’m going to be honest it’s going to take a lot of money to get there but I’d go cold air, 9p performance ported throttle body, ported intake, p2r big tube headers, full exhaust and tune and you maybe if lucky can get 50 but it’s going to be a push it’s honestly better to just save and go for a j32a2 and 6 speed manual from the cl-s
I own the 4 cylinder version with higher revs on the automatic transmission it puts out roughly 200 but its killing my gas alot faster due to me messing with the air racial but lol my transmission cant handle the engine for some reason
Swap a manual into it and keep up with basic maintenance and necessities. And if you don’t want to manual try getting an oil cooler and don’t run it hard because the autos are glass
my '00 has 216k on it. i cant seem to let it go. it's a great car to teach your sons the basics of cars. recently had my cat stolen and opted to run straight pipe now. still trudging
I don’t have a lot of knowledge on audio but I do know mine is a power acoustics I have no clue model or number but I do know there are a lot If you just check the forums you could probably see the list of some radios people use
Great video kid. Those wheels look gorgeous on your car. The one thing I would like to say, and I can say this I own an 02 5 speed manual 2 3L. Never ever sit on the hood of your car. Thats just a good way to bend or dent these very soft skinned hoods. I cringed when I saw you do that. No real enthusiastic gear head sits on the hood of their car. Other than that I loved your video great content.
Haha yea i know it bends them badly mine is already ruined from it that’s why I wasn’t too worried about it. My little brother slammed mine the 2nd day I got it back from paint and it’s bent and wavy the whole way across the front so don’t worry it was already bent up 😂😂😂
Honestly if you want to go for something cheaper I’d go with Acura TL 5 spokes if your car is a 5lug if not really and wheel besides a stock one and try and go for a 17 or 18 inch rim they seem to really fill in the fenders
Check the oil filter housing mine was leaking from there pretty heavily if that’s not it valve cover gaskets or just keep putting oil in lol. That’s how my accord is and I’ve fixed multiple oil leaks so now I just keep putting more in it
I own a 6th Gen Honda Accord v6, and I must say they are in fact great cars💯💯
They are definitely one of the best Honda’s in my opinion

I’d definitely Recommend if you do stick with an auto to get a rebuilt one by a reputable source because the chances of finding a new one are slim to none and continuing on that transmission may lead to further issues.
I have a 98 4 cylinder 5 speed manual transmission and love it! Definitely a fun car to drive no doubt and definitely a comfortable car to drive as well
Nice mine is alittle rough cause of stiff coil overs
Hello from Vancouver! I just got my first car, a sliver 2000 honda accord manual. I'm looking for used parts such as a coupe front lip in the same sliver colour. Do you know where I can get one?
Its going to be hard to find parts in the colors already because most of them are aftermarket but sometimes you can get lucky on Facebook groups and find one someone is selling that is already color matched but it’s extremely rare to find
Check ebay; I got a front bumper cover for my 7th gen accord that was painted to match. There might be similar parts for the 6th gen accords.
I just bought a 1999 dark blue Honda Accord EX 4 door with the 2.3 auto any modifications you'd suggest?
Keep it simple and go cosmetics. Make it yours. Just try and stay away from cheap products
I have a buddy that plans on picking up a 3.2 6 speed swapped one so I plan on doing a full breakdown of how the car was done and how much it cost if you’d be interested in that video only thing is the guys gotta buy the car first
252 Squad I would be very interested
I took apart my throttle body and egr valve maybe it's just me but it sounds better and feels better there was a lot of build up in there over the last 147k miles
Nice I might have to look into that my cars slowly loosing throttle response and I’m thinking of doing that or going to a 9p performance ported and polished throttle body
I have a '98 in midnight purple. Beat to hell but runs great. Gonna boost and upload videos soon
Bet I’m going to be looking out for them
Hey nice video I have a 2002 4 cylinder ex.
Yea it doesn’t sound like my issue at all I think your right with it being a fueling issue because I can’t remember my codes but I’m 99% sure it wasn’t that
I have one and it looks great
I already plan to put the 6 speed from the 05 or 06 accord and I di t plan on doing more than 350 horse
I’ve got a 2001 coupe ex with a 4 cyl it’s not very fast but it’s fun to drive 😁
Heck yea I’ve now started wanting a coupe quite badly
I have a 2002 Ex 4 cylinder and I fucking love driving it to and from work but I want more power so I think I’m gonna try and do a k24a swap from a 2004 Acura TSX in the future
That sounds insane and probably pretty fun I’d say go for it 100%
I got a 02 coupe 4 cylinder! Trying to find an intake and decent exhaust system
Yea I’ve heard good things about yanaka I think is the name of the exhaust for the 4 cylinders but don’t know about the intake
@@252squad5 man I’ve heard good things too! But on the site it says it’ll only fit the sedan? But I’ve seen other exhaust say they fit both? Idk
I have a 2001 EX 4cyl auto. I love how it runs & drives. I wish I had the V6 for more power, but 😒 Oh well. Good luck on your 6th gen project!
Yea the 4cyl isn’t so bad tho it’s not much of a power increase but it’s till a fun car I bet
@@252squad5 Yeah I don’t really mind. It gets up for a 4 banger automatic.
Yea I wish the v6 came with a manual but it doesn’t which sucks but hopefully I’ll get the swap done one day
Got a ex coupe 2002 accord with a f23A1 4 CYL
I want me a coupe so badly
I just picked one up as a daily cuz my prelude broke
I just got a 2000 honda accord v6 at.....hit over 110 no problem ....but i am looking for about 50 more horsepower ...if you have any suggestions????
I’m going to be honest it’s going to take a lot of money to get there but I’d go cold air, 9p performance ported throttle body, ported intake, p2r big tube headers, full exhaust and tune and you maybe if lucky can get 50 but it’s going to be a push it’s honestly better to just save and go for a j32a2 and 6 speed manual from the cl-s
I own the 4 cylinder version with higher revs on the automatic transmission it puts out roughly 200 but its killing my gas alot faster due to me messing with the air racial but lol my transmission cant handle the engine for some reason
Yea same the 4 speed auto has issues with the j series v6 that puts our alittle more power and it’s kind of annoying
I got the 6-6 accord 7gen coupe
Lucky I want a 6-6 so badly
Hey man I got a 01 accord v6 at 201k any idea how long it would last if I take care of it? Cause I love this car 😩
Swap a manual into it and keep up with basic maintenance and necessities. And if you don’t want to manual try getting an oil cooler and don’t run it hard because the autos are glass
@@252squad5 thanks for the tip. Yeah I got the auto version 😓
I have a 1999 accord @redlineaccord
California car scenes Bay Area car groups hate you sadly but I put 4 12’ speakers so that made up for it
Nice vid, where’d you get the head unit from???
When I got the car I had it but you can find them on eBay and the Internet it’s a power acoustics unit
my '00 has 216k on it. i cant seem to let it go. it's a great car to teach your sons the basics of cars. recently had my cat stolen and opted to run straight pipe now. still trudging
Haha and yea they are great cars and easy to learn how to work on cars and do the basics with them
Great car mine is a 6 cyl. Auto 227000 miles
Same but mine has a good bit more miles but it still runs good
I have a 2001 v6 and want to turbo charge it but there’s just no room😔
Relocate the battery to the trunk and install the turbo there. I’ve seen people run single turbo and even twins by putting the turbo there
I have a Honda v6 o2 bought it with a blown motor just got it replaced and now found out my transmission is fucked 🤦♂️
Dang dude that sucks luckily it’s not too hard to find the transmissions and get them in just cost a good bit
i have a 02’ accord coupe v6
Nice I kinda wanna get a coupe cg soon
My bone stock f23a1 in my accord would walk my friends fbo b18b integra.
I could believe it. The f series is a workhorse engine and make decent power and torque numbers.
I’ve gotta 1999 4 door ex manual
I want a manual cg so badly I really wanna manual swap mine but don’t have the money
hey someone know if 5 gen and 6 gen have the same bumpers holders?
I don’t know but I don’t think they do
Bro wassup where did you get that bumper?? My 6th gen accord bumper is the original its tore back haha
Haha I got it from a pick and pull technically but it’s a 2001 Accord coupe front bumper and you can get them fairly cheap with a google search
If anyone has a 2.3l 2002 accord 4 cyl let me know what my wheel size and tire size is I want some aftermarket rims and Tires
Idk if it’s too late let me know
I have an idea now
I got a green ex mmhm
Mine is a f23 vtec tho
What bumper is that
2001 Honda Accord coupe
Just bought a old 98 honda
That’s cool there great cars to have and they’re really fun
great video and i agree .
Thanks 🙏
Add link for the coil over you bought

Dont forget the oem frame rot issue and sorry to tell you but that family car is not a sports car unless u can get your hands on a euro r good luck
Yea I’ve checked for frame rot and I’m good to go
Which car tape (touch screen) I can buy for this car
I don’t have a lot of knowledge on audio but I do know mine is a power acoustics I have no clue model or number but I do know there are a lot If you just check the forums you could probably see the list of some radios people use
Also there is another RUclipsr named Nick Puente who did a video on putting in a touch screen on his so that also may help
Thanks
No problem
My favorite car besides a camaro I love HONDA 💙😁
Haha lol same but Camaro’s are cool too
I have an 01 Accord with the V6 and it is quick! It has 311,000 miles and still runs perfect!
Yea they are very quick and fun to drive and I’m super glad you got 311,000 makes me 270,000 look like nothing
My little brother slammed mine the 2nd day I got it back from paint and it’s bent and wavy the whole way across the front so don’t worry it was already bent up 😂😂😂
Getting my windows tinted this weekend, then my cg6 will get a paint job 😁
I dont know if I should get rims for it, any suggestions???!?!?!
Honestly if you want to go for something cheaper I’d go with Acura TL 5 spokes if your car is a 5lug if not really and wheel besides a stock one and try and go for a 17 or 18 inch rim they seem to really fill in the fenders
Ion like the coupes but I have a 99 dx 5 speed
I got a green 2002 coupe tht fucking flys but it’s been leaking oil lately :(
Check the oil filter housing mine was leaking from there pretty heavily if that’s not it valve cover gaskets or just keep putting oil in lol. That’s how my accord is and I’ve fixed multiple oil leaks so now I just keep putting more in it
i have a 4 cylinder five-speed
Dope really kinda wishing I had a manual cg right about now
I'm just tryna get this bumper :(
Haha it took me awhile for mine to ship
@@252squad5 where'd you get it from?ebay?
Great video
Great man
Rim size and tire size?
18x8 225/40/18
@@252squad5 gotcha screen shot... Thank you buddy ☺️☺️🥺
what color is the wrap?
My car is a Audi glacier white metallic
@@252squad5 nice. I may be buying a white 6th gen today and I’m starting to brainstorm looks!
Haha nice I’d go for it these cars look good in white and are easy to make look even better because any color matches
I have the exact car
Nice bro
I'm an old person Honda Accord car enthusiast o_o ^_^
my mom got one of these with 400k miles on it.
