Yeah, and i am the head enginieer from the M division, the reason the crank will bring issues in the future is because we used 3030 Aluminum for the bearings because we thought it was heat resistant.
Being that Toyota designed the exterior of the Supra being completely oblivious to the design of the Z4 it completely blows my mind that people are dumb enough to say they look the same 😂

Loved the engine cover switch! Two great cars. Like the Supra, the BMW has good looks and a great exhaust note. After riding in a Mazda Miata all day, the BMW looks huge inside. LOL! Speaking of fun cars, the Miata is a blast to drive. Would love to see you review the Miata and get your opinion on them. As for these two cars, I would give the edge to the Supra for affordability, overall looks and the driving experience. Great video Brian!

The Z4 does make more power..Both make more than their claimed power rating.. Supra really making around 370 - 380hp and Z4 making around 410hp. Engine code isn't exactly the same for both cars..Supra uses B58c and Z4 uses another variant of B58.. possibly bigger turbo or just more boost pressure...The 440i coupe I'm leasing now uses a different variant of B58 from either of the two in the video
The old z4m coupe and roadster also drove differently. The roadster was more softer and the coupe was more stiffer as in the case with the new Supra and Z4. The Supra is the more hardcore version of the Z4. Also the Z4 was dyno'd having more power than the Supra so no, the Supra does not make more power.

Diff chasis but from what has been shown this engine makes more power/torque in supra. Parker from vehicle virgins raced a tuned 440i and was indentical...also 240i is too tall, short and has ugly ass.

No, it is manufactured by Magna as you thought. I think that people just generally call that "BMW" since Magna is who manufactures a lot of the stuff for BMW (in addition to cars for other companies such as Mercedes, etc.).

I feel like when you walk into a toyota dealership and drop down 60k for a new supra, it's a different experience, *you bought their halo car*, you bought the legend, you feel like "the man" . In contrast, when you go to a BMW dealership and buy a Z4, while it may also be a nice experience, you *become quickly misaligned* by their vast array of super sedans, faster more powerful sedans, and posh luxury cruisers, that the buying experience *no longer feels all that special*. Beyond that, when the new model comes out, you will be *no more significant* than "that guy with the 2011 3 series" That's just something I kind of feel. Having owned a Toyota, I can tell you that the folks at Toyota are *very passionate about sports cars*, and have finally had their thirst quenched by the supra, for a while, in fact over a decade went by when the *sportiest thing in our lineup was a mere Scion TC*. This *car is their passion*, while it may be a love child between the two companies, what we have here with the new supra is *still 100 percent passion*. If you take any of the great toyotas, whether it be, Mr2, classic supra, or even the 86, They will continue to *gain a level of respect* with toyota enthusiasts for decades. *I don't think the new z4 will attain as high of a "legend status" as the new supra*.
So no difference just supra owners finding ways to convince themselves the supra is different and not just a rebadge bmw. Hey we all do it for one thing or another.
These bmw engines N55, B58, S55, and probably S58 are designed and made for automatics. With manual transmission there is "shift bog" that nobody can tune out, there is rev hang, turbo lag. It's very sad, and incredible BMW thought that is acceptable.

Bros FOURR Speed Well sir the ride wouldn’t be the same because the supra is lighter and shorter when it comes to the outer body. The Z4 rides better and feels good because the car is aggressive and luxurious. I really like the rid of the MK4 a lot. It has a strange feeling, a sporty ride with smoothness. You feel as if you’re riding a heavy cloud.
supra weighs less, and I think the torque curve is shaped differently...that is what yuo're feeling, even the Z4 S30i 4 cyl at slow speeds, say under 40-50 mph is almos as punchy as the M40i...the torque availability is great in the 4 cyl that is down 130 HP compared to the 6 cyl...anyway, all great cars.
Its not that the Supra has more power. It’s that the Supra is lighter (given about the same hp, lighter is faster). So you feel a more rapid sensation of speed, and more road feel drama in the Supra. 😉

If you look at the build video Toyota did more than just take bmw engine. The B58 wouldn’t be what it is without toyota. And toyota actually tuned theirs to be better along with a better chassis.
The Supra is much more performance oriented. Check out my Supra Playlist. Built mine up to 500hp and it was so fun in the mountains! Z4 is more refined and luxurious

"They share a platform, powertrain, suspension components, even interior parts and the only thing different is the tuning." Lol, that can be said for my 2GR V6 in my car vs the 2GR in a Lexus or Lotus. Same engine, tuned differently. I just did a quick Google search. Again. They changed the body of a Z4 and put a Toyota emblem on it. Even Scotty Kilmer knew months ago and did a video on this very same argument. This G29 Z4 looks good? Its a disaster. Looks like BMW outsourced it to be designed by Kia. Instead, park the E85 Z4 next to the Supra and you will understand what I mean. Bangle's orginal Z4 still looks bad ass.

@@idknils2920 both cars built on the same platform. Same production line, same factory. Same b58 engine, same zf8 gearbox, same chassis.... Toyota made some individual adjustments and changes to meet their requirements. But the two cars are virtually the same except the body and interior.
The person who designed this G29 Z4 is responsible for its doomed fate. The worst BMW design to come out of Bavaria. Supra will outsell this generation Z4, period. Shows how much the suits at BMW are not interested in this Z4. They more interested in putting M badges in their range of X1 to X6 SUV tanks. If any suits from Bavaria is reading this, my humble suggestion would be to kill off and bury the Z4 roadster for good. The only Z4 that deserves compliment is the original first generation E85, Z4. It was the one that took the fight to the Honda S2000. After that, it all went sideways with the heavy and bloated E89 and G29.

BMW and Toyota worked together to build these cars. Supra is a much different car tho and much faster and more performance oriented.

These bmw engines N55, B58, S55, and probably S58 are designed and made for automatics. With manual transmission there is "shift bog" that nobody can tune out, there is rev hang, turbo lag. It's very sad, and incredible BMW thought that is acceptable.

There's a reason why that EAG channel there manual supra is barely driven and when it was it was driven very conservatively. They just did it for clout. Ain't no one paying $12k to have more complications and having to put more money into it. Better off with a M2 Comp If you want a beamer inline 6 with a manual

Well sir the ride wouldn’t be the same because the supra is lighter and shorter when it comes to the outer body. The Z4 rides better and feels good because the car is aggressive and luxurious. I really like the rid of the MK4 a lot. It has a strange feeling, a sporty ride with smoothness. You feel as if you’re riding a heavy cloud.

supra weighs less, and I think the torque curve is shaped differently...that is what yuo're feeling, even the Z4 S30i 4 cyl at slow speeds, say under 40-50 mph is almos as punchy as the M40i...the torque availability is great in the 4 cyl that is down 130 HP compared to the 6 cyl...anyway, all great cars.
Definitely different cars. The handling is the biggest thing thats different. Supra is rigid and super tight. Z4 is a GT cruiser

Its not that the Supra has more power. It’s that the Supra is lighter (given about the same hp, lighter is faster). So you feel a more rapid sensation of speed, and more road feel drama in the Supra. 😉
Yeah its got a tighter chassis too so its handles way better and is more responsive overall. Its a sportscar while the Z4 is a GT car
It doesn't have more power....it's lighter by like 200 lbs so the torque will hit differently
On the dyno they make about the same power. And I believe for 2020 the Supra actually dyno'd with more power. It was underrated from the factory

Z4 is very nice and luxurious. Very soft and not as fast as the Supra. But would be a great touring car with the top down experience.

If you look at the build video Toyota did more than just take bmw engine. The B58 wouldn’t be what it is without toyota. And toyota actually tuned theirs to be better along with a better chassis.

The Supra is much more performance oriented. Check out my Supra Playlist. Built mine up to 500hp and it was so fun in the mountains! Z4 is more refined and luxurious

Jesus the supra is not built by BMW. The majority of the development was done by Toyota and the manufacturing is done by magna steyr.

"They share a platform, powertrain, suspension components, even interior parts and the only thing different is the tuning." Lol, that can be said for my 2GR V6 in my car vs the 2GR in a Lexus or Lotus. Same engine, tuned differently. I just did a quick Google search. Again. They changed the body of a Z4 and put a Toyota emblem on it. Even Scotty Kilmer knew months ago and did a video on this very same argument. Supra does not dyno more than US Z4 which is what you had. Most Z4 comparisons out there are for EU Z4 which is less powerful at 340hp vs 382 hp for the US. See below Supra vs US Z4 dyno

This G29 Z4 looks good? Its a disaster. Looks like BMW outsourced it to be designed by Kia. Instead, park the E85 Z4 next to the Supra and you will understand what I mean. Bangle's orginal Z4 still looks bad ass.

@@idknils2920 both cars built on the same platform. Same production line, same factory. Same b58 engine, same zf8 gearbox, same chassis.... Toyota made some individual adjustments and changes to meet their requirements. But the two cars are virtually the same except the body and interior.

The person who designed this G29 Z4 is responsible for its doomed fate. The worst BMW design to come out of Bavaria. Supra will outsell this generation Z4, period. Shows how much the suits at BMW are not interested in this Z4. They more interested in putting M badges in their range of X1 to X6 SUV tanks. If any suits from Bavaria is reading this, my humble suggestion would be to kill off and bury the Z4 roadster for good. The only Z4 that deserves compliment is the original first generation E85, Z4. It was the one that took the fight to the Honda S2000. After that, it all went sideways with the heavy and bloated E89 and G29.
