Calling him the mom of the group is not harmful but feminizing him every single time is just weird
I don't remember if you talked about this but I feel like the villainization of male idols by gg stans specially when ever a scandal or crime revolving around a male idol is an important topic
This is soooooo true!!! But what's just as bad is when you try to correct these delulus, and they flip out saying "It's just a joke!" and that we are the bad ones for taking it "too seriously", and completely ignoring the fact that they are being so incredibly disrespectful and insulting to these idols, celebrities, etc.
You talked about Taemin being ok with it, and it's true nowadays, but even with him that wasn't always the case (you touched on this lightly in the video), he used to HATE it, he would do everything he could to try and be more "manly" and it took him years and a lot of pain to embrace it and re-claim it as a strength, turning it into something he's proud of, but it wasn't an easy or pain free road, and it definitely left scars. It was only around the Move era (2017) when he said "you know what, I don't care about gender, it has no meaning, and I can be both masculine and Feminine if I want to", but he had almost 10 years of pain leading to it. Jonghyun even wrote the song Pretty boy for him about this, they had a long talk about what Taemin wanted to say and what came out is that he didn't want people to only think about him as a "pretty boy", that he was more than that, and that he is more than what societal expectations of what a man should be are.
Thank you for giving this important informations, I didn't know that, Taemin deserve our respect and admiration bc you have to be strong to go through all this and stay sane

I always love your videos! So insightful and entertaining. I want to mention 2 things I haven’t seen anyone do a deep dive on and it falls under the topic of the over sexualization of kpop idols. *1. Demanding fans and wadrobe:* Fans cross the line a lot when it comes to what the idols do and do not want to wear. I remember when txt had their music show stages for the Deja Vu cb and a lot of moas were disappointed that the members who wore cropped suits in the mv did not wear them on stage. Beomgyu noticed this and apologized, saying that he would make sure he wore the outfit that the fans wanted the next time. I’m not sure how comfortable he is with showing skin, and I can’t decide since I don’t know him personally, but obviously there’s a reason why he wasn’t wearing it. He could’ve requested the cropped shirt if he so desperately wanted it. Nobody should have to make themselves be uncomfortable just for the demands of their fans. *2. Over sexualization in editing:* I can already see the comments from a mile away telling me I’m dramatic and need to stop babying grown adults (which is NOT what I’m doing btw). I say all of the following words as an editor of 5 years, so no, I’m not just some random angry fan and I hope my perspective gives others insight. I would like to make a disclaimer though, if the idols truly enjoy the over sexualized edits and comments and even encourage them, then that’s fine and that’s their preference but I’m speaking for those that most likely don’t. Let’s be serious, some of the edits and comments are getting out of hand. I cannot scroll through TikTok without seeing a ridiculously over sexualized edit of any kpop idol. I’m not saying that can’t be viewed as sexy. Ofc they can be sexy. If they want to be presented that way and are of the appropriate age to be viewed in that manner, I view them that way as well. But I find but these transitions, zooms-ins, clips, audios (like certain inappropriate sounds, not songs), etc. to be very questionable. People are going out of their way to sexualize them based off of innocent clips. I remember seeing an edit of Huening Kai and one of the clips was when he was playing a game with members where they tried to catch whipped cream in their mouths. It was a fun, silly game, and the editor made it.. you know what, and made certain comments about the clip which encouraged viewers of the editor to make the same comments. Why is it so normalized for editors to make the idol part of their own fan fantasy? Also, the comments have gotten 1000x worse in the past year. Why are people so comfortable saying what they would like to do in the bedroom with an idol… friendly reminder, you do not know these people and they do not know you!! If you wouldn’t say it to their face, don’t say it on the internet where they can see it.
LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK! Your second point is honestly one of the reasons I don't enjoy kpop fandom culture as much as I did 2 or 3 years ago.

If I remember something l that happened with Jin back in 2018 where said he didn't like being called by feminine terms(not just mom) but everyone ignored his wishes until the those types of jokes died out in the fandom. As a moa and a ningdungie, all of the kai feminization makes me so mad. Kai is not 16 anymore, nor is he restricted from doing what he wants.
