There has got to be a way to keep its powered function but let it use standard RCA, bare wire, or banana plugs common on modern home entertainment systems.
I have the version that connects to a standard av receiver, I am so glad I avoided the lifestyle system with the proprietary signals and strange din connector thing.
I know this question has been asked, but with the removal of the power components, does the sub still pack a deep low frequency punch when the volume is turned up? I have a Yamaha Receiver that I hope really activates the LF.
Does the acoustimass still control the 5 cube speakers as well. If that's the case, where do the new wires from the subwoofer connect to a tuner so that the whole system works. Sorry for being dumb about this but I'm just trying to get my surround sound system working.
@@CalGcastglassnz would really love to see you do this mod but keep that powered function with the amplification gear that's already inside. Gotta be a way to convert those cheep and plentiful bose subwoofers into a quality cheap powered woofer that can be added to any RCA ported home theater system.
@@MA_KA_PA_TIE I've heard of people going to Amazon and buying $19 amps, 2 X18 watts, that has a separate On switch, volume, treble & Bass controls and also speaker outlets. There are several places to buy these small amps. I've also watched a RUclips video of this being done.
Check the fuse. Often, they blow for overcurrent protection on these. If it keeps blowing, recap the sub. Remember that these systems are old now and some had bad caps in.
Hey! Any chance you still have the circuitboards you took off? I've been looking for them for sometime! If you still have them and have no use for it, I would like to buy it off you.
My Bose remote and home theater are not working properly. The speakers are fine, but I’m thinking of getting a new 5.1 AV Receiver for my Bose speakers. Bose doesn’t make it easy. I’m trying to find answers here on RUclips.
Do you have a lifestyle system? If so, check the pin out online, you may be able to get to a standard receiver to work. If you have an acoustical with the rectangular screw in connector, that can for sure be connected to a standard receiver.
I got three of Bose sub woofers with those darn propriety pin connectors just waiting to be rewired to be passive woofers.
Thanks man!

Thanks for your video. So you just connect it to any regular subwoofer amplifier board to woofer speaker with red/black connector, right?

My Best Regards
I have the same idea, because the power unit on the back ist broken on my sub. How many ohms does it have?
Great question! I want to know too... Someone else says they are 0.5ohms/driver which would be 1.5 if they are all series connected...
You give me hope buddy thank u so much i will do it later on.....whooooooooo
Is the subwoofer still powered so that you can raise and lower volume and base level?
No

So I’m assuming this is no longer powered? How does it sound?
Honestly... not that great. It seems to clip a lot
Any idea about what to do if the sub does not receive power ?
