ive done one of this before from another customer
and this is my second time to repair and restore a BOSE acoustimass speaker box.
project done by NIKUNO's garage shop!

Brilliant video and great craftsmanship and better than the workmanship Bose had originally made!! Have subscribed and obviously given a ‘like’ to your great upload and thank you for the inspiration as got acoustimass 25 sitting about and I have plans to wire up and change amp to make a one of a kind subwoofer, more powerful than the original.

What happened with the third speaker? The one inside the little box?. He didn't put it back again, just the two ones wich are together. Otherwise, nice repairment work

I just ordered one from good will i want to take apart its the one with a folded horn not port tube i take it there all glued together always though bose was well poor but its only my opinion i have a home made 12 inch i made my self man does it put out the bass only 100 watt amp but bose is or was interesting .

Probably bad caps on the crossover. I can’t think of what else could go wrong.

The Acoustimass 10 has an extra woofer in the front section for handling the signal from the center speaker and left/right surround speakers. Otherwise it is similar to the Acoustimass 5 which is a two-speaker system (left/right only).
i saw on hexibase's channel that with 6th order the frequency response in characterized with a prominent plateau with a dips on both ends of the operating band: that extra woofer works as a 4th order and the whole unit creates a "6th order series offset hybrid bass reflex" extending the performance well into the midrange.
What bose speaker is that? I never seen 3 woofer

What kind of wood did you use? Will the wood used to make car subs do?
Also just wondering.. Can the box be made a little shorter? (current length is 22 inches.. Can this be shrunk to 17 inches?.. Just checking as the bass box is currently bigger than my entertainment unit)

mdf board i use.... you have to follow the exact dimension otherwise the sound will be different from original box
i just bought one of these for $7 at a thrift shop
My box too has to be repaired. The front cover is come off so I have to fix with glue. The original glue was orange in colour. Also there was a sponge piece inside the box behind the front cover , measuring 150mm x 150 mm which is totally in poor condition. What type of foam/ sponge is this , plz advise so that I can replace it ? Can you also advise what type of glue have you used , is it liquid silicon glue or something else ?

yes, because the original box is made of particle boards

just an ordinary wood glue called STIKWELL

What is the thickness of the MDF Board you used ?
.75mm
@@nikunospeakerboxmaker6614 I am sorry but it is not 0.75mm. MDF is not available in this size. Please tell me if it is 11mm or 17mm or 25mm ?
@@theumeshkumar09 .75 mm MDF is the same as ¾ inch MDF (here in America).
It's THE most common thickness of MDF....so THAT size isn't available where you live?

@@nikunospeakerboxmaker6614 Thanks for your prompt answer. Google search only gives the outer LxBxH but to be able to copy the box , we need internal measurements of distances and tube measurements. Next time please note down the measurements.

You probably don’t have one of these Acoustimass units. Probably never had one, at least with the cube speakers. You are probably thinking about bass with this speaker. This is not a woofer. This in conjunction with the cube speakers that came with it makes a speaker system.
In simplicity, if someone has the 2 channel setup, they will place one speaker on left, right, and the big one in a variety of places/positions. The visual observation would show 3 separate speakers. If setup pretty close to correct it would sound like there was 2 tower speakers.
The cube speakers are taking care of the high, and mid high frequencies, and the Acoustimass, works the rest of the frequencies being played. So, instead of a bunch of big speakers all over the place. The lower frequencies are all in one location, while the cube speakers are the only ones that need to e spread out.
Thus, this is not passive woofer, this is part of a speaker system.

@@johnsimun6533 it’s a passive subwoofer where the crossover is set to higher frequencies? It still produces the low frequencies of the subwoofer but is harder on your receiver/amp.

You have to admit that he does a very skillful job and that it’s worth sharing the techniques on RUclips.
I think it would have been wise to recap the crossover though.
Bose sucks at reliability at 90s
well we cant blame those owners they like it thats why they want it restored when the box is broken damage
