    Great video. A good tip, which I'm sure you're aware of is to first remove the battery, then press/hold the power button to discharge any residual electrical current still in the laptop before proceeding to do whatever you're doing. I came here mainly to see how the HS is set up with the fans.

    In the video you didn’t end up removing the keyboard/touchpad from the palm rest. I bought a new shell for mine since it’s cracked around the hinges, both the bottom and top halves of the shell. Is it possible to move the keyboard and touch pad to a new shell or is that sorta impossible? I don’t want to take it apart and not be able to fix it since it’s what I use for work and school, but I’m worried since the shell is beginning to crack further due to use.

    • @Sellbrokedotcom
      @Sellbrokedotcom  4 года назад +1

      It's not impossible, however the keyboard backing plate is basically melted into place. If you free your keyboard, it might be a pain to reattach it to the new palmrest. Best to get a palmrest with keyboard already in place.

    • @Sellbrokedotcom

      That's pretty common, the thermal paste hardens over time. If you are 100% sure you removed all the screws, just apply light upward pressure on it while wiggling. If it still won't budge, get it warm with a blow dryer or heat gun if you have one, that will soften the paste and make it easier to remove.

      You main goal is to be able to feed the video cable out of the chassis, so remove anything that prevents that. You might be able to remove the video cable from the LCD assembly WITHOUT totally removing it from the laptop. You can do this by popping off the front bezel and then removing the screws for the LCD panel, tilting it forward to get to the LCD cable connection, then peeling the tape back carefully to remove the cable from the LCD. The reverse that to reinstall.
