    I was so excited to follow this tutorial but I can’t even go through the first steps😥 When I adjust feather to 10% and then do the color drop threshold to 4.3% nothing happens to my shape, doesn’t change, both layers stay the same size. Can anybody help me, please?☹️

      I have the same problem. I don’t get the bright blue background when I tap on the screen (after selecting automatic - mine turns yellow) and then when I adjust the colour threshold to 4.3% or feather, nothing happens. If I move to the next step, still nothing happens. It’s so frustrating. I’ve tried over and over again, I’ve literally freeze framed every second of the tutorial to make I’ve followed it exactly and it never works. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong?!

    Another great tutorial! One of the things I really enjoy about watching your tutorials is that you're using tools that I've never used before or at least not applied to a design like you have. I'm continually inspired by your ability to walk us through step by step and not just doing something in fast motion and expect that we'll be able to follow! Sometimes I think other illustrators who just go through the steps in a very fast way without pausing before going to the next step do it because they have no patience. But thank YOU for having the patience--again, not being an illustrator or graphics designer by profession, I need to not only see what you're doing, but WHY you're doing it! Thank you and please do Procreate videos!

    • @Tatyworks
      @Tatyworks  3 года назад +2

      Hey Debbie. Thank you so much for such a long and nice message. I am truly happy to get this kind of a feedback. You know, being an artist and being a teacher are not always the same. It’s important to understand how beginners feel when watching an educational video. When I first started, I think I was showing things a bit too fast because I didn’t want the videos to be too long. I thought people would be just scared if they see a 50 minutes tutorial and find a 20 minutes one to watch on another channel. But then, those who want to learn some new techniques would probably not be concerned about the length of a video. So now I just take my time to explain all the steps no matter how long it takes 😊

    Hi, I’m using an previous generation iPad and an older version of Procreate so my tools are just a little different than what you are displaying here.
    I’m having an issue with one of the first steps regarding feathering. I’m able to set the reference image, color in the second layer but when it comes to coloring and feathering the 3rd layer it will not feather. Do you have any tips?

    • @Tatyworks
      @Tatyworks  3 года назад +1

      Make sure the stamp is still selected as the reference, and when you are on the new layer, tap on the background area in automatic selection, it must be highlighted with blue (color fill option is turned off), then you set feather amount and drag the color on the background, adjusting the colordrop threshold. If you do all the steps and it still doesn’t work, I can only recommend to draw all shapes manually with the brush, then you can do all other steps easily.

    It seems extremely cool but I'm stuck at the very beginning: selecting the background and applying the "Feather" do not give at all the same result as you (I got a very very thin line). I rewinded and tried several times but can't make it work. Also when selecting the background, the squirrel appears in white and not black. any idea what I'm doing wrong? thanks a lot!

    • @Tatyworks
      @Tatyworks  3 года назад +1

      Looks like your selection threshold is set to max if your squirrel turns white. After tapping on the canvas to select it, try to slide your pencil or finger to the left, to make the threshold low. Probably you won’t see any changes immediately, then deselect, and repeat selection again, this time it should work.

    I’m so sad, I can’t pass the selection automatic because it’s not turning blue, instead, when I’m try to apply the automatic selection the layer remains with that second yellow. Ps: I followed exactly the same steps as you said and selected a third layer for this but it’s not working 😔😔😭
