I don’t know how early you can do them, but I think one fun and exciting option would be restricting to Tera raid encounters. Only get one from each location, they’re supposedly randomized (don’t know what the parameters on it are), they’ll have a hopefully fun challenge to get them, and they’ll have non standard Tera types to boot, which I think could be really fun and interesting for nuzlocking
The best way I found to nuzlocke is to look at all the encounters in the route and do a random generator. For example if there are 12 pokemon you do 1 to 12 and pick the number om the list from that route. This is the best way because it also allows you to catch pokemon that will be spawning only om the later area of those routes
As the game evolved, we will now have an evolution of the challenge mode that will make more sense than wanting to catch the first mon your eyes see or any kind of senseless extrapolation from the previous iterations. I think the "Nuzlocke purism" idea is one of the most pointless conversations we can have as a community. The very nature of the open world game makes it already more compelling and engaging in itself, which is one of the main goals of the self-imposed challenge. Why would you miss routes or forced battles when you can technically go to the strongest trainer with your lvl 5 starter from the get go? No, we probably won't be able to do a "Nuzlocke" with the original rules as in the emerald inspired comic, but Nuzlockes themselves have already evolved with every game.
What you can probably do is cap the Pokémon you can catch before each gym and maybe make it so you have to fight x amount of trainers before your allowed to challenge the gym that way you have to fight trainers and you can’t just go to every area, catch a full team then beat up all the gyms, that also means you can strategize which trainers you want to fight like “oh I wanna fight this one cause I don’t have a water type so the other one over there would destroy me”
They said the game isn't level capped, so the chances you stumble into a level 50 area with level 7 Mon and get your run ended rather than getting a Pokemon that will challenge the gym. We will see though.
I think eventually I would just work out all the options in an era and make it a raffle system for each encounter, otherwise you'll end up with similar pokemon each run
@@YouMayKnowBeno this is my plan. Going to 100% the game firstm explore and compile a list of which Pokemon are in which area and come up with some type of randomized system to select which ones I get in which area and know which gyms are which levels and take that path when I Nuzlocke.
I sorta did a Nuzlocke for Sword (which I only obtained about a month ago). I added a clause that I could only use Pokémon introduced in Galar and any Alolan Pokémon that I wasn't familiar with (I never finished my Moon playthrough... I got bored because it was easy). I may not have always necessarily gotten the absolute first Pokémon on the route since the game is full of Pokémon from previous gens, but I would get the first Galarian Pokémon I encountered. I still only got one encounter per area. Was tons of fun. I plan on doing something similar if I get Violet.
Scarlet and Violet will have individual regions that can be used as routes. The map is clearly defined. You just catch the first one you see. The main reason, catching multiple Pokemon as progression that made Acreus unnuzklockable. Doesn't exist here.
Pokemon are USUALLY suited to the area they're found in. I saw a Houndoom in the WATER in that waterfall where one of the legendaries is locked behind them things you have to open by pulling the swords in violet
My plan for not locking my 1st run through this game will be look at Sarah B see what pokemon are at each route put it into a Random generator on my laptop up hitch scan and whichever one it lands song it's the pokemon I have to catch for that route. And I always make it a rule that you have to fight every single Trainer So Bata bin Bata bun both of them solved
You can still do a nuzlocke. This idea come from watching two youtubers doing different ways of catching Pokemon to battle. Each route you are only allowed to use one pokeball. No upgrading pokeballs. Or type lock. This is the first Pokemon you catch the next Pokemon has to be of the same type. So for example the new Pokemon smolive is grass and normal. The next Pokemon you pick has to be either grass or normal. It is better to get dual types. Now with these ideas a nuzlocke is capable.
Wait i love the type locke idea although I think if i were to run it, i'd probably call it the Unolocke because it follows the same principles as Uno 🤣
Also do people not know that in scarlett and violet the pokemon are not set to spawn in the same location every time, but rather its random obviously they are still biome set, but in legends arcius they are set to spawn in the same location every time so u know where to find them
It's a shame that game freak is making it's newer games un-nuzlockable given how the challenge worked well for making you use pokemon, moves and items that most people wouldn't use
Thanks! I've literally never done a nuzlock before. I actually thought it was a hack or something lol. Learning this is VERY interesting I'm gonna try this as I've played thought it like 5 times now lol
Why not use an eye tracker because then theres proof of the first pokemon you see and you cant just pretend to go like "OH I FOUND A WEAVILE FIRST! CATCHING TIME"
Ok ur first argument u can see the Pokémon right but u can close ur eyes in tht area walk around and when you encounter a Pokémon open ur eyes and battle and catch him or her i think shadypenguinn did that on Pokémon sword and shield in my opinion unless there is a new route like Pokémon scarlet and violet is a full open world game but if it’s going to say a new route like in bottom of the screen I feel like u can still do a nuzlocke
Im excited and hesitant. I think if done well, the open world will be insane, but the footage ive been seeing its like, not done right? I think this game isnt going to be overall great, but it will be good and introduce and improve new mechanics and ideas for future games.
@@awesomeaustenkittynah, games honestly a bit of a let down on every front. Dont reccomend purchasing it yet. Maybe wait a bit till it hit emulators and people can fix it. Sorta like how i just started Breath of the Wild. I can now run it on 1440p. 144 hz. And WELL beyond what a nintendo switch could do. and it looks insane. Makes me happy i didnt play it on a switch bc i dont think it would be as good. So id say wait till this shit hits emulators.
Well u can make it a rule to vs all the trainer see about nuzlockes u can make ur own rules it’s ur nuzlocke u know u can make it hard core if u want or can add rules and keep the other rules is all on u
I disagree that you "can't" nuzlocke Arceus or S/V. The whole point of it is to add the difficulty that GameFreak refuses to add themselves (as evidence by switch STILL being the default battle method). Hence the level caps and death of mons. You absolutely can nuzlocke both games, sure it won't look like the traditional older gen games, but the games don't look like them (or play like them) either. Nuzlocke will have to (pardon the pun) evolve with the changes... or GameFreak could just implement Nuzlocke "rules" as optional game mechanics(or a new game+ (++) would be welcome too). Don't argue they can't; text speed is an option, set/switch is an option. Hardcore (death) could be an option, limits on catches/balls per area could be added into game options. Other games already do this, even Halo 2had the skulls which, once found, would allow additional options/difficulties to play. Sure, some were just comical like Grunt Birthday Party but others (Iron Skull, Famine Skull, etc.) made it absolutely brutal... and so, so rewarding when you and 3 friends crushed the entire game with all the skulls turned on with legendary difficulty selected. As for this game being made "for children" I disagree. I agree it is so mindlessly simple that a child would absolutely be able to enjoy the game. Should it be that mind numbingly stupid though? You don't seem to find that enjoyable, which is why you Nuzlocke to begin with. Pokemon appeals to all ages. And the first few games were quite dark in tone. Victreebell comes to mind, with entries that detail the acid inside breaks down whatever it eats (pokemon). Take Gold: "ACID that has dissolved many prey becomes sweeter, making it even more effective at attracting prey." But in the Manga and in the anime, we see it try to eat people, so it would/could/and certainly has eaten people before. Even as late as Gen5 where, in Black, Yamask's pokedex entry reads: "Each of them carry around a mask of their face from when they were human. Sometimes they look at it and cry." Drifloon steals children... etc. etc.
Could blindfold yourself (before the overworld mon’s spawn) going into the route? As for the “go anywhere, any order, etc.” surely it wouldn’t be that bad to just decide on the order before starting, like a ‘canon’ order and go from there?
@@YouMayKnowBeno realistically in a game they confirmed isn't level capped. Going into the wrong area at the wrong level is going to kill your Nuzlocke run anyway. Best to learn which gyms are which levels and take them in ascending order.
It sounds like a complaining video then anything. For one there ways if you sit down and think about it or make a discussion video or asking your viewers how or ideas. For one you don’t need to use the let’s go feature. Also you can catch the first Pokemon you see. Also because there three stories there three ways of playing. Let’s take the champions league find the order and do them in that order like a classic game. And on the path you fight with people only to the gym. Now let’s take the Team Star battle with that you can use only the first three you catch and the last three as your back up and that all. And the the titans story you can limit your team to only first six Pokemon and do a run through to each titans without fighting no one else but the titans.

You could just use an rng and have rng select the Pokemon on each route you have to catch.
What is an rng?
If people found ways to Nuzlocke Legends Arceus, they'll find ways to Nuzlocke this game too.
I would say you HAVE to catch the first pokemon you physically see on the screen in each area. Like, whatever you eye spots first.

Considering the nuzlocke is a self-imposed set of challenges....of course the answer is yes.
Always ask the Pokecenter Nurse where to go next. Tera Raid pokemon only for your team, release any others. Must fight any trainer you see.

You can randomize the Pokémon in a randomizer
