Amazing how many memories of so many parts of your life can come flooding back to you just by watching a video like this. I was born and raised on the Rock, you drove by different places I lived, worked, went to school, hung out with friends. It felt like a time capsule opened.. thank you. Haven't been there in some years, but I miss my Emerald Isle 💚
most of my dads side of the family lives in Kodiak, last time i went was june 2012, got the best news of my life yesterday, i’m going back in july after a decade of being away. I’m now 18, soon to be 19 and do photography i cannot wait to see what i find on this beautiful island
my most fond memory was going out at 12am with my buddy and picking salmon berries from peoples yards, and probably finding the deadliest catch boat docked on a beach, that was mind blowing to me as an 8 year old
Wow, that brought back so many memories. If we wanted KFC when I was there, we had to fly to Anchorage. Loved Kodiak and miss it all the time. Were stationed there 92-95. Best times of our lives. Crab fest, Comfish at the Hangar on base, so much to do and see. Still have friends there. Dave Blain and a few others. I keep remembering things. The old crab processing plant at the bottom of deadmans curve and when you drove past the waterfront, I could actually smell the crab being cooked. Mac's gun shop, Eric Bergren. Thanks.
Hi Mark I lived there in 76 and 77 worked on a old 85 foot power schow crab boat. I had a friend who worked on base and have been in the enlisted mans bar few times. We always appreciated the coast guard.
I used to live in Juneau for 21 years Kodak was one of the places I wanted to go see. Old injuries come back to get you and some times you can only see the places you wanted to see online and on TV good video
@@CastFromTheHip I look for things like that from in Alaska to watch like the Somers out of North pole and My Alaska dream they live out on a island out of Auke bay just north of Juneau. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Wow.. speechless.. This brings me back. Haven't been on the island since 2010. God I miss it so much ! Elementary to Highschool .. Best days of my life! Crab fest!!! The days where we just walk here and there, hang out by the docks. oh man...
Great video. Brings back good memories. Spent 5th and 6th grade there over 25 years ago. Havent been back since. Mom worked at safeway. Stepdad was a coastie.
Thanks for stopping by, a lot of folks just rent a uhaul while they’re on island. There are also citizens renting out their cars to people in addition to the rental agencies at the airport terminal. Good luck on the hunt.
Never heard of Captain’s Keg? I assume a restaurant? The business turnover in Kodiak is pretty high. Haha only town I’ve ever heard of who lost Taco Bell. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.
