I have been using Tracktion 6 for several years , I'm so glad Waveform retained things so there was no major learning curve, Main switch for me was to FINALLY have a proper mixing platform

The tutorials are very helpful, but no matter what I do, certain things do not happen as they shuld. For example I download a demo song, it shows that it is downloading, but when its done, its just not there. Sooooo annoying. Nothing works
Same problem. I first tried to install Waveform using their Tracktion Installer thingy but that just kept telling me that it was downloading but would just continue trying to download until it arrived at 753% downloaded (?!) and said an error occurred. Then I installed it manually with their website, and now demo songs won't download, projects do not have any available instruments and there are no plugins available. I'd blame it on Win11 for now

You are probably already sorted, but make sure you log into the browser with your email address and Tacrktion password. That's what was preventing me, now everything has appeared :)
This is like reading French to me. I can barely get around on my Tascam 32track! I bought the UMC202HD interface a few years ago, but never recorded a thing. It was overwhelming to me. It sat for so long on my laptop that when Windows 10 updated, it got rid of the program I had! Now I'm making my second attempt at trying to get past the learning curve, and get at this. It all looks to confusing to me! Wish me luck.

Don't give up. Do simple things at 1st and then go from there. There are plenty of tutorials. Waveform has a LOT to offer for this price like pattern generator, chord track and more to make writing music easy. It's on sale right now so it's the best time to buy. Now if i could only fix this Collective problem i have hehe. Bought it yesterday so i guess i need to read the manual... Good luck!
@@ChronLogic Reaper is NOT free, it has an unlimited trial however songs you make with it cannot be sold or monetized in any way (such as ads on a youtube video)
If anyone can help... The Demo songs don't pop up under Active Projects immediately. I found them in the Tracktion Temporary folder; however, I cannot drag and drop them in the program. Also, I cannot create a new project, the error message saying 'couldnt write to the file'. This is very disheartening, the help guide didn't mention anything of this and couldnt find anything on the internet in different forums. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, i just wanna get started. Thanks

I have made sure the audio set up is correct, I have a bass guitar going into Focusrite and I'm using headphones because I don't have speakers atm. The headphones are coming out of foscusrite channel 1, I've done the output test and I hear the tone in my headphones, great, but I get no sound from my bass guitar, I can see the sound bar going up and down when I pluck the strings and I can hear it after it's been recorded but no live sound at all, what am I doing wrong?
Have you installed plug ins to your computer? I don't think they come along with waveform app. When you install plug in, make sure to create a folder for it, and then on waveform, select that folder to be searched. Your plug ins will show

I downloaded a free version of Waveform to use with a Soundcraft Ui24r mixer and a windows 10 PC. Would you tell me how to set everything up so I can record from the Ui24R capturing six inputs (2 mics vocal/4 mics for church organ). All Tracktion 7 and Waveform 9 video's generate an error (in the Netherlands) and are unable to play .... !!!!! I found out that the RUclips video's run only when Traction or Waveform are NOT running.
Hi Johan. I had the same issue when I today, for the first time installed ASIO drivers on my Windows 10 PC. I got the audio and RUclips working after following the steps seen here: www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/installing-and-using-asio4all-for-windows/ I re-installed ASIO with my Behringer UMC404 connected. From Windows Start Menu > ASIO4ALL Offline Settings, I selected the input and output I wanted. In Waveform 9 I selected ASIO > UMC ASIO Driver for W9
i'mnew to this scene and bought a korg minilogue. do i need any additional device between my korg and pc? i pluged in the usb into my pc but behind every enabled input is written "default midi input" or "(set as default)" and in the track section there cant be found any input. i know, i have to learn a lot about that whole new world but what can i do?
How do I turn off send to master in Waveform? I like to use reference tracks and I don't want them to be mastered again. I want to keep the original signal.
I am using Waveform with Powerbeats Pro bluetooth headphones and they were working fine at first but now the sound keeps cutting out. I have to go back and reset the audio and then once I hit play on the track again, it instantly cuts off and stops working. No sound will play in my headphones or on my laptop until I repeat resetting the audio settings. Any tips?

The moment I start waveform, audio rending on windows stops. For example, I am running this video and I open waveform app to do the setup side by side watching the video, the video immediately stops and it throws an error that "Audio Rendering Error". As soon as I shut down the Waveform application, everything is back to normal. Waveform stops all audio rendering on the windows system - I cannot see youtube videos, can't play any mp3 or audio files on the local storage, can't play any local videos... nothing. I can only use waveform. And that too I can't do anything with it as audio won't be rendered anyway. And none of the self-help videos help with this.

Let me guess, there won't be any plugins found in scans until I decide which tier level (ransom) to pay and the hundred-dollar option has less than ten that are 'unlocked' at that tier? We wrote our own riffs and played real instruments back in my day.
You only need to scan for any additional plugins you may add - the app has a full suite of built in plugins to get you started that do not require a scan - enjoy!!

At least it stopped de-configuring the Windows sound hardware whenever I launched the app. I'm hoping to get the setup done soon so I can start recording practice videos to accelerate the comeback progress toward and get back to the level where I was with performing live on guitar and vocals together circa 20 to 30 years ago. How do I get the 'device aggregation' configured for a Marshall CODE25 practice amp and Mackie ProFX8 mixing console so I can do some of my Yousician Premium 'workouts' and record them with a video camera that gets its sound via a Bluetooth transmitter plugged into the Tape Out bus on the Mackie without 'latency' between the vocal mic and the guitar messing me up & sending my practice progress backwards?

Um... why is the mandatory tutorial video on set-up an advertisement for the product I already have with no useful information on why the equally ridiculous that they're mandatory on set-up "Scan for Plugins" and "Download Demo Song" functions just scan for 5 minute only to bring up a blank list preventing you from clearing the set up? Your "Tutorial" literally starts with you already set-up and mostly done and you spending half the video saying where to download the program from... we have it already... that's how we came to this video... nobody without the program already would ever come here for any reason... Show us how to actually set it up.
From someone who is now 11 parts into this series, let me summarize the only thing you need to know to get started: Uninstall. You have been scammed. You are not using free software. They lied. I don't mean that they were, like, cleverly misleading with their wording or whatever, I mean they just plain lied. They said it's free and it isn't. It simply is not. That was a lie.
You can choose to 'Sort by category' which won't exclude but will put all synths in one place. Alternatively you can hide synths from the plugin list - Settings > Plugins
tried downloading but after 8 attempts, I gave up. It would not accept my email or password, not sure which one though. If it is that difficult to get started with, guess it will be an absoult nightmere to run..... guess I'lll look around for another product.
This is thw most fruatrating thing I been through trying to get my notepad 12fx to play and record audio. For one the test dont work at all. Scanning the plug in dont work but it is connected in the audio devices settings 🤬🤬👺🤬

late 2020 Sounds terrible (v 11) just tried it to see if it was any good. Changed the latency buffer to max, loaded a demo song and it just crackled... Also the app is heavy and sluggish as f*ck from time to time, making the whole OS act like running in water... OS Linux UbuntuDDE 20.10 (Groovy Gorilla)... kernel 5.8.0-28 generic, 16GB mem, internal GFX and SFX, default ALSA... So that was a bummer.
I'm sorry but if you think I have time to watch 10 tutorials just to make a simple recording than think again. When I downloaded reaper, I didn't even have to read the manual to do every detailed thing I wanted to do. Dont waste your time with this. Just download reaper.

It kills ALL sound every time I launch the app, errors when selecting devices!!! NO SOUND with the Getting Started videos UNLESS the app is shut down first and I reset all my audio drivers through Windows!!! There's absolutely NOTHING useful in the 'FREE' version, suspicious failure to disclose pricing ("If you have to ask, you can't afford it?") upfront!!! It simply DOES NOT work and it BREAKS YOUR PC and wastes your time and money!!! Time that would have been better spent on guitar practice (getting back to sounding like I've been playing since the '70s after a lengthy medical hiatus wasted five years of practice time) has gone to WASTE instead, and now I'll probably have to PAY SOMEONE to fix the damage it did to my computer!!! I was shredding in garage bands doing Poison and Judas Priest covers and partying with future Rock stars at Filthy McNasty's in Kent before most of your parents even met back in college and doing overdubbing on analog gear in high school, this digital 💩just seems like a MONEY PIT so far!!! For 'Pro" and to re-enable my audio, they want 100 to 600 in 'ransom' to unf**k my hardware!!! F*** you!!!
I have used some really difficult audio software but between the program itself, and these videos, Waveform doesn't make a goddamn bit of sense. It will randomly do a few things but it's like the buttons just aren't connected to anything and you can just keep hitting function buttons all day and maybe something will happen eventually, but it won't be what you want, at all. I feel like I'm owed money for how much of a fucking pain in the ass this goddamn piece of shit program has been.
Correct. There are some stock Waveform effects and instruments but they won't show in the scan. The scan is for 3rd party plugins and if you haven't added any you won't see them. There are 1000's of free ones out there, have fun exploring!

That's because techies dont know what user friendly means. They can't make something easy to use. Try Reaper. It's free and it's way easier than this.

I stuck on downloading demo songs. After I download it it do not appear anywhere. My projects tab is empty

when using windows audio, I cannot select a sample rate or audio buffe size. They are both locked into 48000 hz and 480 samples.

Annoying bug - when Waveform is open, it pwns the sound engine on the computer and I can't hear RUclips videos any more.
I use Tracktion Waveform 8 in Linux OS. It's a difficult path, but it disciplines me!

Where would I go to download plugins for Tracktion 7 on Windows
Tracktion 7 will work with any VST plugins. We offer some great ones - www.tracktion.com. Alternatively, just search "VST Plugins"
Um... why is the mandatory tutorial video on set-up an advertisement for the product I already have with no useful information on why the equally ridiculous that they're mandatory on set-up "Scan for Plugins" and "Download Demo Song" functions just scan for 5 minute only to bring up a blank list preventing you from clearing the set up? Your "Tutorial" literally starts with you already set-up and mostly done and you spending half the video saying where to download the program from... we have it already... that's how we came to this video... nobody without the program already would ever come here for any reason... Show us how to actually set it up.

From someone who is now 11 parts into this series, let me summarize the only thing you need to know to get started: Uninstall. You have been scammed. You are not using free software. They lied. I don't mean that they were, like, cleverly misleading with their wording or whatever, I mean they just plain lied. They said it's free and it isn't. It simply is not. That was a lie.
Waveform Free is 100% free. You simply need to unlock it with your free Tracktion account details and you're good to go.
Can i exclude for example "synths" from the plugin list if i only want to mix on it?
You can choose to 'Sort by category' which won't exclude but will put all synths in one place. Alternatively you can hide synths from the plugin list - Settings > Plugins
tried downloading but after 8 attempts, I gave up. It would not accept my email or password, not sure which one though. If it is that difficult to get started with, guess it will be an absoult nightmere to run..... guess I'lll look around for another product.

Depends on your audio interface. Google for driver options for that hardware on Linux to see what options there are.
i dont see any plugins
This is thw most fruatrating thing I been through trying to get my notepad 12fx to play and record audio. For one the test dont work at all. Scanning the plug in dont work but it is connected in the audio devices settings 🤬🤬👺🤬

I can't listen to the demo songs, whenever I try to press play nothing happens. What tf is going on?
Run audio setup, make sure when you click TEST you hear audio.

it took me 45 minutes to figure out how to get the input/output frequencies to match up, which waste of time. and now i can't listen to youtube while having having output on. and you're saying i have to download 'asio' something, and you don't give the link. ?????

I went and found it online but it sounds like garbage after installing asio, selecting it as a device type, then hitting 'test'.

Anyone else driven mad by the man saying that you must buy it or register every 2 minutes? I don't know how to register, but switched it off because it was so annoying. I'll buy it if I can figure out how to make it work, but this isn't a good start

Sounds terrible (v 11) just tried it to see if it was any good.
Changed the latency buffer to max, loaded a demo song and it just crackled...
Also the app is heavy and sluggish as f*ck from time to time, making the whole OS act like running in water...
OS Linux UbuntuDDE 20.10 (Groovy Gorilla)... kernel 5.8.0-28 generic, 16GB mem, internal GFX and SFX, default ALSA...
So that was a bummer.

I'm sorry but if you think I have time to watch 10 tutorials just to make a simple recording than think again. When I downloaded reaper, I didn't even have to read the manual to do every detailed thing I wanted to do. Dont waste your time with this. Just download reaper.

It kills ALL sound every time I launch the app, errors when selecting devices!!! NO SOUND with the Getting Started videos UNLESS the app is shut down first and I reset all my audio drivers through Windows!!! There's absolutely NOTHING useful in the 'FREE' version, suspicious failure to disclose pricing ("If you have to ask, you can't afford it?") upfront!!! It simply DOES NOT work and it BREAKS YOUR PC and wastes your time and money!!! Time that would have been better spent on guitar practice (getting back to sounding like I've been playing since the '70s after a lengthy medical hiatus wasted five years of practice time) has gone to WASTE instead, and now I'll probably have to PAY SOMEONE to fix the damage it did to my computer!!! I was shredding in garage bands doing Poison and Judas Priest covers and partying with future Rock stars at Filthy McNasty's in Kent before most of your parents even met back in college and doing overdubbing on analog gear in high school, this digital 💩just seems like a MONEY PIT so far!!! For 'Pro" and to re-enable my audio, they want 100 to 600 in 'ransom' to unf**k my hardware!!! F*** you!!!

I have used some really difficult audio software but between the program itself, and these videos, Waveform doesn't make a goddamn bit of sense. It will randomly do a few things but it's like the buttons just aren't connected to anything and you can just keep hitting function buttons all day and maybe something will happen eventually, but it won't be what you want, at all. I feel like I'm owed money for how much of a fucking pain in the ass this goddamn piece of shit program has been.

Correct. There are some stock Waveform effects and instruments but they won't show in the scan. The scan is for 3rd party plugins and if you haven't added any you won't see them. There are 1000's of free ones out there, have fun exploring!
