      If we could only establish a few good herds in Kentucky to rebuild our status in the dairy industry with the Dutch Belted, Randall Lineback, Kerry, Milking Devon, and possibly the Norwegian breed known as the Telemark, then things would change for the better.

      Cows that have no horns must drink more water than those with horns. Therefore, the old practice of dehorning is a waste of time money, labor, and effort in maintaining a good herd.

      We need to get the Telemark breed of cattle of Norway 🇳🇴 preserved because they’re presently down to just 200 or less.
      Having a good number of frozen embryos brought here and possibly put into Ayrshire recipients would help in getting it started, and as soon as possible, maybe we could possibly use some Texas Longhorn recipients to allow for the Camargue cattle of southern France 🇫🇷 to establish breeding herds here in the USA 🇺🇸. We need to get Milking Devons established in Kentucky to rebuild our status in the dairy industry, but even the White Park breed needs established herds in Kentucky as well as Florida Crackers and Dutch Belted.

    Good job on the majority of the lineup.
    A lot of these breeds need to get herds established in Kentucky.
    However, maybe it’s just a matter of time until the Lincoln Red can get a sizable worldwide population established until maybe the horned factor can be reintroduced into their bloodlines.

    While I wouldn't say Belted Galloway are a big herd, they do find their way into onto many beef operations here in Canada for farmers that want variety in their herds.

    • @LindaCooper-i3f
      @LindaCooper-i3f 6 месяцев назад +1

      Too bad that certain breeders in the early part of the 18TH Century in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, including The Duke of Montrose (archenemy of one Rob Roy MacGregor) began the process of breeding out the horned factor in all Galloway cattle, especially the belted ones. So until the day comes that the Regular and Belted Galloway cattle are at a good enough worldwide population together, then maybe Scotch Highland bulls will be bred to both the Regular and Belted Galloway broodcows to possibly reintroduce the horned factor since The Duke of Montrose and his black Aberdeen-Angus bulls helped to breed out the horned factor from all Galloway cattle in the first place.

    To save these breeds of cattle or any other in this day and age. The use of embryo transplants would increase there numbers . . embryo transplanting were you flush a cow of her eggs which could be any number 6 or 8 to any number. then fertilize them and put them in donor cows. These donor cows do not have to be the same breed as the off spring are of the embryo transplant breed. There are no donor cow traits . So in realty one cow and bull could have any number of calves in one year depending on how many eggs the cow has in the flush . . A cow can be flushed every 7-8 weeks as long as embryos are produced. until her stops producing embryos. So the simple math is some thing like this. If she gives 5 eggs times 6 times that is 30 calves per year . this could get the numbers up in some of these breeds.

    This video has major errors in it; there are a lot more than 800 longhorns here in Texas and Corrientes can be seen in every rodeo (used for steer wrestling/bulldogging, & steer roping). Tons of Dutch Belted here used primarily on hobby farms… very inaccurate video.

    • @LindaCooper-i3f
      @LindaCooper-i3f 6 месяцев назад

      Team roping is an event that requires the usage of the Corriente.
      A lot of the commercial herds of Dutch Belted were slaughtered in 1987 during the Reagan administration because some political jerks decided that the retail price of milk needed increasing in spite of the fact that a lot of us folks were already in the poorhouse as it was. If Reagan had any real brains, he would have put the 1934 Gold Reserve Act of FDR back on the books as a law.
