I used to be an fnf player and after a few months playing osu mania I can finally FC 2 to 2.5 star maps and when I came back to fnf to see how much I've improved I absolutely hated it. idk why but fnf just feels so weird and off it's like walking in a house with shoes on
I know exactly how that feels, espically with it being where I started with rhythm games, been over a year since I started playing, comparing at least the base game to osu!mania, it's way different, though I'm finding some mods are trying to turn fnf towards Osu!mania (Middle/downscroll/scroll speed, ghost tapping, circles, yet to see bars though) .etc, which I ain't complaining about at least, it's an improvement from where it started, though I'm in a 3-4* range after spending enough time switching from fnf to Osu!Mania, since roughly the beginning of October, I still play both either way, they're enjoyable in their own ways
as someone who plays fnf and o!m equally, i can say you're not just imagining things. the way things are charted in fnf are vastly different and seeing how this comment was made months ago (when the community sucked at charting), i can only imagine my point is even more apparent
by far the best video for helping beginner players, all the other ones offer advice like “just play a lot” which of course I’m already doing, but the technicality in the settings and beginner mistakes are really good to know! Thank you! edit: holy shit I just found out my scroll speed was at 10, I changed it to 21 and my accuracy INSTANTLY improved, that’s awesome
Ya I just saw this video because I needed help because of my timing and once he said scroll speed my brain instantly exploded and jaw dropping, now I feel like am actually playing a rhythm game.
I've already played for like 8 months and just beat galaxy collapse a few days ago, but I still found this pretty useful. This is a great video that every beginner should watch.
actually amazing video, especially the last chapter talking about improving certain skills sets. too many videos just say "play more" but you can really improve your skill faster by doing what you mentioned
I 100% agree on planning a map once and finishing it, even though I learned it the hard way. For me I decided to play each map once, and finishing it because 1) When I played it too many times, it got stale, and I didn't want to play it again. 2) When I also didn't finish the map, I got no motivation to continue afterwards. So whenever i boot up mania, I play something I know is fun and I'll definitely get 97% acc or more, and after I finish said map, I get a big burst of motivation to continue playing for about an hour or so, instead of rage quitting because I didn't pass a hard map without warming-up. I'd also recommend not comparing yourself to top players all the time. This might be a problem in me more so than others, since I didn't hear about something similar, but I'll still mention it, in case somebody needs it. First off, nobody is perfect. You will make mistakes along the way and they're inevitable. However, they're the best teacher. Take an example from my experience: I had a tiny period while playing mania that I quit if I didn't FC a map. When I did this, I didn't improve at all and started to hate playing it. And then I decided to just play it normally, mostly ignoring the scores and voila, I'm suddenly improving really well! So, every time you're sad/disappointed/angry that you didn't get a better score, you won't even believe when you'll get a better one.
I hate LNs so much but I'm gonna work on them when I get back home next week... I got a 93.9% on Galaxy Collapse but i got like 93.6% on a 3* LN spam map the other day and that really got me thinking lmao.
I’m going to put my list of goals and things I need to work on: (I’ll update as I get progress! I’m Kaiffeine on Osu! and I’m a mania player that started not even a week ago, my bf is in the top 6k and he’s inspired me to start! I am playing for fun, and for success.) I only been playing for the 2 days and I managed to climb up to the 400k range! Things I need to work on and practice: - Hand locking - Jumps, jumps chains - Any type of streams xD - Jacks, chord jacks - Stairs - Vibro - Reaction Time - Coordination - ACCURACYYY (I might check out the song delay thing and it’ll help.) - Not tunnel visioning and focusing on one song (Please feel free to give some advice if this list sounds good! I am new to rhythm games and not familiar with a lot of patterns but I love music and rhythm! If you know of any resources that could help me improve any of these please link me! Beat maps around 1.5 - 3 stars and 4K would be amazing for practice!)
Honestly the improvement batches worked WONDERS to increase my skill level, they singlehandedly got me to the level where i could consistently play 4.5 star maps back when i struggled at 3.8+. That said its been months since i last played the game so i came back to this video to play the batches all over again :)
Hello friends, I have created 11 "improvement batches" on my website. You can find the batches here: improvementbatches.netlify.app/ - These are handpicked sets of about 20~ songs per batch, gradually increasing in difficulty. Kind of like the Dan courses, but not really. The easiest batch starts with 2* maps and the highest batch so far has maps around 5*-6*. You must get an S on each song in a batch to progress to the next level. If you have any suggestions or feedback let me know!

Project Sekai / Arcaea / very bottom of the barrel regular Osu player wanted to try out Osu! Mania and well to keep playing more rhythm games 😂 it could be fun right? This was a really helpful video !
the way i improved was just literally grindingg out the same 3 star map till i fced it lmao. then i noticed i could do alot of different patterns and read some other stuff
Been a long term OG player and I never knew we could adjust the scroll speed, like after they removed extra points for harder modes at whatever update I noticed a few changes so maybe added in from there? Since I need to keep the scroll speed to match the BPM so I can hit the keys with the sound as I am hearing it and seeing it at the top of the screen and imputting the acting before it hit the bottom, almost like I have invisiable mode on but I do it automatically depending on how far down the Beatmaps speed lets me. I will throw off all these extra layers off armour one days then I will get my rank back, always hate leaving for a month or two and seeing that massive dip in your ranking line.

this kinda makes me feel bad because i've been at 356k and i've been playing osu (and friday night funkin/ funky friday) for a little over a year.
I've still been trying and have still been improving, just very slowly.
my brain cannot read a note and use the correct finger it just can't
step one:buy keyboard
step two:buy monitor with 120hz
step three:play some song in months
step four:you became pro
step five:you realize u just waste your time being best at game
step six:you finally quit
step seven:you finally touch some grass after some months
I have never played mania and usually play standard but im looking to get into mania, any tips or anything?
im so overwhelmed, can you please make a video about the android version? i cant figure things out like note skins, speed, and many more, ive bee stressing out for hours

good video, i think some tips apply to players at all skill levels too
it helps a bit I can now play 3.5-4 star
now i feel intimidated to try osu mania
i'm on a potato computer so i can't go to 20 scroll speed or the notes will start to double or look like there are more than one. so i kinda have to be on 18 so i can see the notes but it won't start to double
I've faced a huge problem, ok so whenever im playing a map with a lot of notes i lose focus and everything just starts to tumble, ive only done this recently and i keep getting A's on maps
this is a really nice tutorial
Bruh I’m over here with 15 scroll speed oh well
im struggling on the first batch 💀
JUMP PRAC.... wrong mode.
Target prac... Wrong game
i literally cant play osu mania
i have a good sense of reaction. also i was playin piano tiles very good for years cuz i enjoy music. and then i moved to VOEZ. the game touth me more and more things about those rithm games that have the scrollings feature. but God i cant play this mania. i just cant. like a month of everyday practice. and i still cant play it at the basic level. i simply cant either if i want to HEEEEEEEEEEEEELp
I played quaver for almost 3 years now and i still cant pass a 25-27 difficulty map which is like a 5* star on mania, idk how to improve on LN control or acc or even stamina, hope this helps
