Wow, what an absolute joy to watch Ara! You went way over the top showing everything in the detail you did. Love that the project you made was a little mini diorama with the monopoly pieces haha. Pure genius. I'm looking forward to seeing what the final piece will look like as your practice piece already looked incredible :) Thank you so much putting the box up on your channel! You truly are an amazing crafter and artist Ara and these massive and unique dollhouses have always been a joy to watch the progress since discovering your channel years back. The final products are jammed packed with so much detail it's mind boggling! You are an amazing person and I couldn't be happier with how you displayed the box in your video! I'm completely blown away! Thank you so much for doing all of this and glad you had fun with the kit!! :)❤

Ara, a simple tip for applying stain to balsa wood. Use your water bottle and give your surface a good coat before you put the stain on, it is damp enough that your able to get to the wipe-off and a smoother finish. Balsa is so thirsty and I know that you will have success right away! Good luck!😊 Oh your diorama is phenomenal! Truly breathtaking!!!

Hullo Ara, I hope you have as much enjoyment with Neil’s kit that I have! You are truly inspirational and so in advanced of most of us watching! I hope you decide to put the project together and please show us your process! I have used many items from the box but I have not taken on Neil’s building yet! I love the stone powder and the sheets of fast machete for creating stucco or plaster walls! You are a lovely young lady and I just wanted to say thank you for sharing all of your ideas and techniques with us. Please take care, be safe and enjoy the rest of your year! See you next video!

A hint for staining balsa. Put a layer of finish, such as shellac, which can be sprayed and is very fast drying. Then stain it. This will prevent the stain from being blotchy and absorbing too quickly. After wiping off the excess stain, allow it to dry before deciding if it needs a second stain layer. Finish with another coat of shellac.

Something that I've been seeing other crafters do is use a silicone ice tray or pop toy as paint wells. If anything dries, it peels right out for easy and fast clean up. It's reusable and can usually be found at a dollar store or second hand. It might be useful for some of your mini painting where you only need a little bit of paint.

Gel stain is really nice! It's a little like alcohol ink but has more working time. It's really versatile and using various amounts of water will give you differing levels of coverage without having to reapply and wipe multiple times. The paper machet material is what old fashioned casts were made of. I am in awe of the mat!! Mats do not come sold that way and in all my years of mat using it has never occurred to cut my mat to fold it!! 🤯 Milliput is an enigma to me, but you should check out The miniature world of Kit and Caboodles. They are a mother and daughter who use their mudlarking finds in their miniature creations, and they are masters using Milliput!! This is an incredible kit and the diorama table is fantastic and I'm certain Adam is going to love it!!!

Welcome to my world! I generally work 1/87 to 1/700. You need to scale way down from your normal doll house scale. Colors and washes etc have to be scaled back for a subtle more realistic look. Sometimes it's better if your first colors are more like washes and then your actual washes are more thinned out. Instead of one wash you may do six to get the effect in small scale. But like every thing else your first effort "winging it" is still pretty awesome work! Enjoying the journey!

    • @BentleyHouseMinis
      @BentleyHouseMinis  8 месяцев назад +1

That makes total sense when it comes to scaling down the thickness of the paint as well. Ara, I'm pretty sure thatnwood is bas/bass wood. It's much better quality than balsa! Balsa tends to be a bit of a darker color and more "gritty." I don't know how to describe it, but it doesn't really have the nice smooth texture that bass wood has. Bass wood is more like a real wood and takes stain or paint much better than balsa.

I have been using Milliput for literally years, and never saw the thing about gloves, this could be laziness (I usually use it to modify model horses and I haven't noticed many of them wearing gloves either lol) or my bad, and getting worse, eyesight. I don't even attempt to read small print these days, so unless there's a very big visible warning, I wouldn't know. I have never had irritation or other issues but, don't do as I do, as allergies vary hugely from person to person. If it says "wear gloves" wear them like Ara. I am in my mid sixties and the teaching old dogs new tricks is true in my case, however look after your health and safety instead of acting like me lol....loved this video, beautiful kit too!

What a great kit. Too bad I already have most of that stuff!
I love using real stain on wood instead of paint. I love the depth it gives it. My preference for stain application is touch-up markers from the hardware store, though. So easy and clean.

I haven't been using a lot of wood lately so I forgot how much nicer stain looks on it! I like the gel stain because it didn't smell as fumey as the stains I remember using in the past. I will have to look more into those!

Great video! So informative and inspiring, as always. One of your comments in the video made me wonder what kind / brand of paint you like to use in your projects (I use DecoArt, but would love to upgrade if you recommend). Also, I notice that you sometimes paint pieces or details after you put an item or object in place, like the little houses on the table in this video. I wondered what the benefit is of painting them after they're glued down--I'd be too afraid I'd mess up the paint, so I usually paint stuff before gluing anything down! Anyway, thanks for your channel! It's a treat!

Hey, wanted to know if you ever checked out Pal Tiya?
It takes a time process but there is no kiln involved, which
means you can work on it as long as you want. I'm working
with it for the first time, it is a cement based product, and
it is hard to break, the greatest part is it can handle all kinds
of weather, and once it is cured, you can stand on it, even small things.
    Have a blessed evening!

Glad the Monopoly buildings came in handy for the practice run on the Beetle Juice attic diorama. It turned out well. I might suggest using fine "ground foam" for grass and weeds instead of the coarser material supplied in the kit for such a tiny scale. (Available from model railroad and hobby stores One maker is Woodland Scenics.) I came across another item for the Beetle Juice project you might like, but I can't find your mailing address.

Yes they were perfect for this build! And I still have plenty more for the attic build. I tried to keep the ones that you custom cut and arranged for that. Thank you for the suggestion on grass material, I will look into it! I also do have some ground foam in different colors so I will see if I have some green.
