      @@shaunr5450 last time I looked at the MPG average it was like 17 mpg lol and I stand corrected, it’s a 20 gallon tank. If gas is a concern, I wouldn’t get this car but if you’d like a sports car feeling mini suv then this is forsure the one. Comparable to the Porsche Macaan. Thank you for your awesome review. You have exactly pointed out the reasons which made me buy the QX50 over its competitors. I can guarantee that the people who dislikes this car have never driven it. It might not be the best looking nor does it get the best mpg in its segment but it sure can make you smile every time you drive it.

      This vehicle is for "car guy" with a budget. Other "car guy" with higher budget will get Macan S, X3 40i, or SQ5. People who buy other SUVs in this segment are just wanting a vehicle from point A to point B period that doesn't care about driving experience.

    Looking back with 20/20 hind sight, this is one great value and a hell of a car. I traded "up" to a QX70. The QX70 had the harshest ride of any car I have been in. The
    QX50 was a great compromise of ride and handling. The QX50 ride was so much better than my QX70 that I regretted getting the QX70. Maybe after paying off my Truck, I will get another QX50 with low miles. The 18" tires ride a lot better than the 19's.

    I sold my 2008 EX35 to my neighbor 4 month ago. Bought a 2013 bmw X1 with the 3 L turbo. I find the BMW to be faster and therefore more fun, but altogether more annoying. Stupid info controls, and bells, no dipstick to check oil levels only electronically, you have to pull the door handle twice to get out- I could go on. I also am getting 17.4 mpg according to the car. More than any other complaint though is that I can't keep it out of the shop. The EX35 never gave me a problem over 4 years. I am putting at least $500 a month in this Beemer and I am going to sell it. Seriously looking at the QX50 for as others have said it is one of the last 6 cylinder vehicles around unless you have Macan or Mercedes amp money. I am just not a 4 cyl turbo guy. No matter how many hp they get out of them you still have to wring their little necks to go fast and they sound bad. Yes the QX50 is dated but I think it is still attractive especially with the Chestnut color interior but more than anything it shouldn't cost me so much to maintain. Only way I will be able to buy essentially the same car is to change colors and get a model with all the tech possible.

    We have a 2008 Infiniti EX35 with 100k miles on it. It is really a G35 hatchback, rather than an SUV. It has been a fabulous car - incredibly reliable and still drives great. The interior room has been the biggest challenge, not really for families, but works great for childless couples. If you want a scaled down version - check out the Mazda 3 hatchback - it's like 7/8ths replica.

    IIn a nutshell and certainly not a bad thing... It's a slightly slower, but slightly nicer riding version of the Q and G series sedan with slight advantages among other things. I think it's an awesome crossover. Infiniti really dropped the ball and went backwards switching from standard RWD to standard FWD, along with ditching the much nicer 7 speed auto for a much improved CVT, but still a CVT. The new QX is freaking gorgeous though. Put the 3.7 or 3.0T with RWD 7A combo in the 2019+ and it would be my all time favorite crossover. SUV or any other type of truck. Just upgrade the damn primitive software nav and apps and it would be perfect for me.

    We absolutely love ours. My only real complaint is the lack of automatic open and close hatch. I mean come on,...its a 2017 and you literally have to get out to open it. No release or anything from either the cabin or the key fob. Other than that,...its perfect transportation for my family. Just enough tech without over doing it. I personally love the styling,....and just one push of the go pedal and I forget all about that horrible hatch. Excellent review btw,...couldn't have been more accurate if I did it myself.

    My 2017 QX AWD is getting 19mpg compared to my Grand Chrerokee V8 with 12-14mpg. Mileage from the QX is stellar. The Qx sits low and is fun to drive in the twisties. Turning off the traction control and the HP, Torque is like Jekyll and Hyde, immediate throttle response and pulls till redline. The motor rips the exhaust note sporty. Even driving sedately it garners disapproving looks from pedestrians. Handling is balanced. In AWD with traction control off it flicks around corners and the brakes deliver fade-free short controlled stops. Not bad for an SUV. I have the XM traffic and weather and it delivers accurate weather maps with accidents and alternate routes. I have a tiny garage in the city of SF so this is my sports vehicle. I have 20,200 miles on it and maintenance is nothing. It's a keeper. I don't want another turbo motor. In my younger days, I had an Outback XT that only lasted 120,000 miles. Turbos melt anything inside the engine compartment.

      19mph is terrible against any other vehicle that carries 5 people unless you really need the AWD and space inside. My GF's Infiniti sedan gets 28 on average and more trunk space. My Civic is slower but gets 35mpg average.

      @jamesdewer 3 года назад

      @@rickjohansson4257 word up, I changed the o2 sensors on the Jeep it's an 01 with under 100k. Runs like new. The Infiniti is underrated. The dual air intake runners alone are only a hint at the magic. I love it. Let's not forget the tangible fact that it was the last infinity made in Japan. Not like the Mexican made current ones with the turbo the quality is impeccable absolutely impeccable

    As a previous Infiniti G25 owner, I had been looking to get a low miles G37/Q40. But it is so hard to find find one that is not abused. So I found and bought a 2017 QX50 Rwd with 33k miles(one owner, GA car). This is fully loaded with all the features. It handles like G. 3.7L engine. I maintain our cars myself and since I drive only 4-5k miles a year, I should be set for a looooong time. I am looking for any reason to drive this car and it puts a smile on my face every time. Only complaint I have is that, seating on drive seat is a bit higher at lowest setting vs my older G25 but I am Getting used to it. So far, I have been very happy that I didn't not buy a new car with extra tech junk and turbo.

Much better than my MKC though it does not have a lot of the features of the Lincoln. This may be my next car. Knocking a grade off because of the handling on a gravel trail isn't right though. Seldom do I ever drive on anything like that. Trunk comfort? Because it does not have a standard cover? Really?? Who sleeps in there? Fantastic review!

    Once more, a no-nonsense, rapid-fire, top-to-bottom segment on a vehicle that is on my Honey-let's-check-this-out list. I was all in for the QX50 until we got to cabin noise and fuel economy. My must-have list in the choosing of a new vehicle for the two of us is quite brief. I only must have a vehicle that is quiet. QUIET. Also, one of my pet bugaboos about llife in the Sonoran Desert is the constant glare. It makes the instrument gauges all but iinvisible. I'd really like an odometer/tach/gauge cluster that is illuminated in a manner that makes it possible for me to see how fast I'm going. Not much to ask, I know.

I love the performance, the interior, the Bose sound system, the blue tooth connectivity, the camera's and all that cool safety stuff that I have never had. The price was pretty good at about 43K for the fully loaded model. I was all set to buy an RDX until I took this out for a spin. Now the decision is to buy this now or wait for the 2018?

      I would say if you like the performance of the current QX50... buy the current one. The new QX50 is going in a completely different direction and will be more like the competition. It will be FWD/AWD with less power and most likely will have a CVT, although it will feature a new variable compression engine that should be really good on gas. And you can count on it being more expensive because of all of the new tech.

    • @crod6431
      @crod6431 5 лет назад

      Forrester XT has the better AWD System because it has the Fulltime Symmetrical AWD, which is a 50/50 Torque Vectoring for front and rear. The Infiniti is a RWD Bias with a 40/60 front and rear split when it detects slippage. Also, the QX50 has a snow button which helps in slippery conditions at low speeds. If you're concerned about safety in snow and icy conditions, the Forrester is better. However, the QX50 is more than adequate in the snow, especially if you put dedicated winter/snow tires. Overall, the QX50 is a better car. It's more luxurious, much faster and definitely more reliable. The 3.7L Engine and 7 Speed Transmission are very reliable. Subaru's reliability had dropped recently. The Forester's Advantage is a better AWD System and slightly better Fuel Economy.

    Really wish Infiniti would update this and their qx30 to look more like their new qx80 and other models. If I say this on the road I would honestly think that it was 5-6 years old.

    Great video. I’m looking at purchasing a used premium plus QX50 and was wondering if the newer model still needs a key in the ignition in order to start the engine. If so the technology is so undated.

    It's low priced because it's very dated. I'm not sure if that necessarily makes it a good value.
    The design is blah, bit so is a lot in this class.
    How's reliability and resale value?
    I'm guessing not great.

    • @AAutoBuyersGuide
      @AAutoBuyersGuide  7 лет назад +10

      Reliability has been good (Nissan's non-CVT models usually do well) and oddly enough resale value isn't bad for the luxury segment. Resale value on the QX50 specifically should actually be good since the model has for some reason been increasing in sales by large percentages over the last 2 years. However, your're right in thinking that part of the discount is because it's getting old.

    • @markthomas4483
      @markthomas4483 7 лет назад +1

      Resale is higher than it should be because the compact CUV market is red hot.
