part of me is sad that they're tearing it down, as it's a cultural icon. I totally understand the incentive though and am glad there are more ways to get up there, even if they're potentially less exciting.
When I was stationed at Schofield this was probably the least illegal thing I did. Got free fruit from the dole plantation all the time! Touched a turtle once. Blew up one of those stupid snails with an arty sim!! Man, Oahu was a good time
When your in the MC it’s not a stairway, it’s a runway. A hardcore runway. Don’t remember my time, but it was faster than the hanging lake run I did a few weeks later. Probably because hanging lake is at 12000 feet or so, and further.
One thing about Hawaii is that whenever rich white people want to block something off for locals, they say that they are "taking care of the aina" - it's usually accompanied by bribes to local officials
I did that hike back in 2006. The view was super amazing. And yeah it was almost a full day to hike. Awesome man

Been up there over 20 times 👍 left alot of dna too 💩🥴
There are sketchy parts of the back way. But a super cool and rewarding hike. Bring lots of water.
As long as they remove it from the bottom up.
Dumb Instagram personalities ruined it. Like they do everything. Blame the desire to be seen by idiots for less than 30 seconds
This is great news. Idiots get lost or hurt up there all the time and the tax payers have to pay for them getting saved. 🎉
I did it when I was there in early 2022. It was kinda sketch but it was totally worth it.
Yep because people don't know how to keep shit low-key. Everyone has to film themselves for tiktok

Ridge not spine but hey....
Looks like some started to build the grate wall of china and gave up half way 😂😉
Good. No more taxpayer funded maintenance.

Hawaii was already destroyed when it became a state by force.

Yo Skipper, we didn't have a stairway to heaven at Swamp Lagoon, er....Camp Lejeune
The very definition of the "attractive nuisance".
ya Kagan
Hawaii, where being an outdoors person is frowned upon. This state sucks so bad nowadays.
