The state just loves to waste money. They spent $12.45 Billion on the rail project. The state estimates about 9k riders everyday (which is likely an inflated number) at $3 a ride. 9,000 riders × $3 × 365 days = $9,855,000 per year. 12,450,000,000 ÷ 9,855,000 = 1,263.32 years to make the money back.
