    As one of your oldest fans (I mean that literally, I'm 48) all I can say is keep up the great work. You know that there's something seriously wrong with Australian journalism when a young ex-male model with a few cheap wigs can provide a more insightful commentary on current affairs than most of the major news networks!!!

    Not sure if you’re aware of the current state of affairs in the NT at the moment but it’d be really interesting to hear your thoughts on this 👍 Here in the NT it’s basically the twilight zone/ opposite land where a large portion of financial mismanagement can be attributed to the ALP (specifically under Gunner). Also I know you’ve commented briefly about the royal commission into youth detention in the NT (under the CLP), so you’re aware of some issues we face here. Re: youth detention I know you were trying to illustrate a point against the CLP at a federal level however the net effect of the popular opinions of those who don’t live in the NT as well as the royal commission outcomes have basically given a green light for underage criminals to run amok, especially since Gunners weak youth diversion program has been implemented, particularly in Darwin and Palmerston.I gather from most of your content that the NT doesn’t factor too much into your research so it would be interesting to hear what you find out from your side of things. Maybe even look into who donates to the NT ALP? Keep up the good work mate, love your videos 👍

    When Justine Elliott was elected as the Member for Richmond, that funding was cut posthaste.

The worst thing to do in a recession like that is to stop spending money. Labor went the opposite, and invested into housing projects, things that are always in demand, and serve as one of our economic indicators. The stimulus package was designed to boost consumer spending, which worked. The Insulation scheme was designed to boost investment spending, which worked.

      Gillard got alot things through parliament, something Rudd sort of didn't quite manage to do and yet we still gave her the boot because businesses didn't want to pay a tax that might have helped cut carbon a bit and was funding both an education package and the disability scheme - stuff our country REALLY NEEDS. When that tax fell through Sco Mo did what he could to prevent both those getting funding (the schools barely saw anything from the Gonski package) and the disability assistance is so difficult to obtain, many who require it either go without because they fail application repeatedly or don't bother as the extra money isn't enough to help pay for wheelchairs or facilities they require. Yeah.. As voters we kinda fucked that up for ourselves (especially when most these days throw their vote away to micro parties that offer them nothing in regards to running a country)

    Hi Friendlyjordies I recently turned 18 this year which means I will be voting soon. By watching your videos for the last year or so it seems like Labor have better policies and legislation. However before making my decision on who to vote for I would still like to do my own research. If you have any advice or tips on how I should go about this it would be much appreciated.

      Searching terms in the news tab f google from trusted sources like the Conversation, Sydney Morning Herald etc. If you're at uni as well using your library database subscription to check out economic statistical predictions etc is brilliant, although a lot of it is public access re predictions by think tanks

    • @cameronatkinson2795

      Do a bunch of reading. Go to a public library (state library is probably best) or if you've got friends in uni get them to slip you a copy of the reader for a politics course. That should point you in the direction of some decent material. If you use social media you can join groups for each political party, look at the things they say about each other, and the things they say they will do for the country, then compare what they say about each other, and to the public, with actual facts.
      Liberal taking credit for natural trends in job growth is a good example used in the video, as is the general premise that they are 'fixing labors mess' when labor got us through the GFC.

      If you're interested in looking at specific policies that MPs are for or against, take a look at They Vote For You. If you're looking for a broad representation of what each party votes for (remembering that some can go against what their party believes), you can pick a random MP or Senator from a party and look at the policies they support and oppose.
      If you want to know the policies of a party, I'd look at their website, and try and pick out the stuff that isn't "THIS PARTY WANTS TO DO THIS". Particularly with smaller parties, they tend to have lists of policies they hold, so you can gather an idea of what they're about.
      In general though in terms of majors, Labor are the worker's party, Liberals are the business party, and Nationals are the country party. Whether you believe these parties do their jobs is really something you have to come to yourself. But those are the aims of each party.

    Labor and liberal are two sides of the same coin. The same thing is happening in most democracies. Also socialism doesn't work in the long run.

    • @bigloo8395
      @bigloo8395 5 лет назад +1

      @WhoDarestheMAN gamer Scandinavian countries are not socialist. They are market economies with a social democracy on top. In many cases they have less regulation on the market than in Australia and on top of this most haven't participated in wealth destroying useless wars. Socialism is the workers owning the means of production.

    • @bigloo8395
      @bigloo8395 5 лет назад +1

      @WhoDarestheMAN gamer Socialism is a watered down version of communism. Both systems do not support the right to private property and believe in collective ownership. On top of this both ideologies believe that a centralised power is needed for the transition to the end goal which always ends up with as you say a dictatorship.
      As for Trump I rarely watch his speeches anymore. I admit I really thought he would be a better president than the last. For months now I've seen he has followed the same foreign policy of interventionism that every president follows. He's talking about takeing down the venezualen regime, he has bombed Syria, supported Israel's claim to Jerusalem, moved more troops into the middle east than Obama, supported a weapons deal to the Soudis. The Soudi Arabian government are some of the worst humans rights abusers in the modern day. Also CNN just reported that some us weapons shipped to the Soudis are now in the hands of Al qaeda.
