  • John's rhythm playing in this song is just awesome. It's full of energy, and really drives the song. Paul also has a fun bass line that very closely follows Lennon's rhythm playing. The song was first recorded February 11, 1963, but was never finalized until September 12, 1963. The session in September consisted of several troubled takes with many drum and vocal flaws until take 24 which was the final master recording. Overdubs were also added in take 29 with handclaps. After four failed attempts at achieving the slowed conclusion of the song, take 29 was the keeper. The handclaps were such a vital part of The Beatles recordings that are just so easy, but they really do add a lot to the song. I've read from several sources that the song was originally played in E, but sped up to F, but I'm not sure. I feel that the recording was the final one completed.
Lennon's playing is a blast to play, as well as Ringo's drum groove with two awesome fills. Although the bass is pretty buried under John's guitar, we noticed that it very closely follows the rhythm guitar, and has a slight change in the bridges. Handclaps were also neat, as there is one mistake clap in the left channel at the end of bridge two where the claps are supposed to break. Another possible mistake at the very last clap of the song, there are only two claps apparent. George's lead playing consists of simple 7th chord jabs and changes to strums during the bridges. Overall, this song is the perfect fit for The Beatles second album, and I hope you enjoy our cover!

I definitely agree... I Want To Hold Your Hand was our first time ever recording something? So we didn't really know what we were doing. The last few videos have been spot on, and high quality. Thanks 😊

@@beatlesrevisited8350 - that’s cool, it’s just most people know the songs from with the Beatles than meet the Beatles .
