It was - and I feel especially grateful to have been able to make this trip with all the lockdowns currently underway in Australia and now in New Zealand.
Awesome that you got on the E190. My plans have been thwarted due to the lockdown in NT. Tough luck as before that in had to scrap my entire itinerary for QLD. Great video though.!
Thank you! Yes, pretty happy about my timing for this trip. I was meant to go on a Queensland trip too - was going to try the Tilt Train. But obviously had to cancel that plan. My backup plan was Perth, but that wasn't possible either.
@@FromtheWindowSeat you're right, I have a flight next week to PER and I'm hoping the restrictions would change by then. If not then that's it, I'm officially out of flight review content. Haha...
@@ryansofly Yeah - that’s what I’d hoped based on more than 28 days of no community transmission in SA (which used to be the measure WA used). But it seems they’re making the rules as they go at the moment. 🤷♂️
Please note that between the time of editing and publishing, travel restrictions changed. So there are now restrictions on travellers from the Northern Territory to South Australia. Please see the SA Government COVID-19 website for details: www.covid-19.sa.gov.au/restrictions-and-responsibilities/travel-restrictions/sa-border-restrictions
It depends if the announcements are unusual or not ... if they're run of the mill then I sometimes cut them because it will make the video too long (and a lot of people don't like long videos), but if they're unusual or interesting, then I try to include them. But it's a bit of a balancing act. ;)
A pretty good flight and a brilliant regional aircraft. Good that the federal government have put promotions on tickets to encourage people to fly but it doesn't cover all Australia
How do Asian airlines logistically get their aircraft to Alice Springs? Do they, say, fly a dozen in and fly the crews all back the same day so they don't need to quarantine?
Good question - had to look into it. ;) Yes, I believe they fly multiple planes in at once then put them on a single aircraft back. See this story from ABC: ruclips.net/video/n7MlF3EnyfA/видео.html They could either take all the crew home immediately (I think Alice Springs is about 6.5 hours from Singapore) ... or they could quarantine overnight. Special rules apply to international flight crew, so provided they're not staying in Australia or travelling domestically, they can leave the following day - but obviously have to have special transport arrangements and separate accommodation so they don't come into contact with anyone except for quarantine / border staff with appropriate protective gear etc.
Understood. I think it’s a wet lease arrangement so although the aircraft is owned by Alliance it’s operated on behalf of QantasLink and I believe this aircraft will soon be in QantasLink livery too. 🤔
Yes, that's right. I think because Qantas have so many 737s sitting idle, they decided to use them on this route. Although the lockdown in Darwin and the resulting border restrictions may impact this.
Oohh nice you got the RAAF 100 years livery!
Yeah - I was excited when I saw that! :)
Thank you for video Alice Springs airport looks great it would be so good to sit outside and have a cuppa watching the planes. Enjoyed it.
Thank you! Yes, it’s a great little airport. 👌
Nice flight and your right who need in flight entertainment when you have a view like that outside your window.

Another spectacular flight- Australia is unique an cannot wait to return… thanks for sharing 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! Hope you can visit in the not too distant future! :)
Thanks for an enjoyable video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I miss Alice Spring🥰🥰🥰
Yes, it's a remarkable place. :)

Why do you cut off announcements? I like to hear them
It depends if the announcements are unusual or not ... if they're run of the mill then I sometimes cut them because it will make the video too long (and a lot of people don't like long videos), but if they're unusual or interesting, then I try to include them. But it's a bit of a balancing act. ;)

Thank you - yes, it's certainly an enjoyable aircraft to fly in.

Just letting you know you said it was a QantasLink E190 but it’s a Alliance E190

Yeah that’s what I reckon too
I have found most of the flights to Darwin and Alice from ADL are now 737 for the next few months

How could they have left off the Mirage?
The mirage? 🤔
