    As always. An excellent review by an excellent reviewer. Imagine that - 90 minutes for 350 kms. Meanwhile it takes me Melbourne to Bendigo 130 km 2 hours +. No food.

      Yes, it’s a bit depressing when you compare their railways to Australia.

      totally agree, i often day dream about how fast I could get from Melbourne to Bendigo if we had high speed rail available

    This would be like me going to London in under 2 hours for the same price as a UK standard ticket...
    London takes 5 hours on UK trains and often the train is so crowded its standing part of the way. Its a world away from Grand Class Shinkansen.

      @HugoBrown 2 месяца назад +2

      @@FromtheWindowSeat The north is beautiful I really enjoyed Hokkaido . In south I want to explore especially Fukuoka (can even take ferry to Hokkaido from here and Busan Korea is only 1hr flight or catch ferry) , Okayama (Naoshima Island its famous art island bit touristy but still I seen one of the artists work in Sydney) Kurashiki, Hiroshima, Kagoshima and there's the old walking trails ( most famous NakaSendo) that would be cool to do too. Lots interesting places in Japan its whole other world compared to Australia hehe especially Sydney.

    Hi Adam. Well that explains things, in spite of all notifications on, the powers that be and their algorithms have other ideas. One of the many other channels I follow suggested watching their video to the end without fast forwarding which is what I did with this episode and hopefully that might actually work….Not that I ever fast forward you because you are great value (especially that wave and the attention to detail especially the ablutions). Wonderful you achieving those high speeds on board. What an experience. And would you look at that luxury on board. Well done. PS Have also now discovered you on instagram and sent you an introductory message. Until next time…Zoltán

    It's very slick and plush. Weird that the power sockets looked a bit manky though. Also weird that people have to touch the loo door lock before going outside to wash their hands.

    Excellent review. I agree Gran Class is not really worth it. The food and drink provided is not worth the extra costs. I think the best way to solve on board food and drink problem for all railway companies in the world is Ekiben. Japan has already shown the way. On board food and drink is only for tourist trains. To have a proper chef and proper kitchen on every train is impractical.

    • @FromtheWindowSeat
      @FromtheWindowSeat  4 месяца назад

      Thanks so much! Yes, Ekiben is wonderful. High quality, tasty and reasonably priced. 👌

    Never tried, toooo expensive. Rather take an overnight coach or local train to Morioka. It takes more than 10 hours by transferring and transferring , meanwhile Shinkansen takes only 2 hours and half. Did you visit Morioka where you can watch the maneuver of Hayabusa and Komachi connected or disconnected.

      I think I got it right in the voiceover but my shots at the start and end were recorded on site (with my typical Australian pronunciation ) so it was too late to fix. This is all part of learning. Yes, I make mistakes but I’m only human. 🤷
