@@audijoseph2371 "route to this track only" does exactly what is says. It will route the selected signals to that track only. It will unroute it from all other tracks
Hi, I've been making beats for a really long time. And I had started in FL Studio a looooong time ago.And I never learned how to properly compress sounds or how compression is used in tracks. I had an idea that sidechain was supposed to give it some sort of effect, but for whatever reason I never really understood. I've watched so many videos and explanations of compression, and still for whatever reason I didn't really understand it. I'd either hear it and not understand, or understand it and not hear it. There have been times where I thought I understood it, and then I'd go to try to apply it, and I'd go blank about it or something. I dunno. Either way, I finally hear it and think I understand it for good. I hope it will help to improve my beats as I finally start to track out and apply it to my beats. Thank you for making it easy to understand. Great tutorial.
Can't express how grateful I am for this video as a newbie music producer. It'll surely change my whole game now!!! God bless you sir, you're the real deal
Not knowing sidechaining has held me back for years finally you have helped arm me to make better music now, thank you for this information packed video.
I've learned a lot from these tutorials. I am seriously considering taking one of these classes to up my game for mixing, mastering & overall sound design. You certainly know your stuff! I have a new project I've been working on and your vids have been extremely helpful. When I release my work, I'm going to give you a shout out. Thank you!
I definitely understand the sidechain bus technique, but there's going to be a time where the bass may need to sidechain harder than the rest of the elements, kind of like what you do at 2:43. So I don't think for all cases everything should have the same type of sidechain pressure imo. And then there's a time where some elements won't need sidechain while others do. So you would eventually need another sidechain on the channel itself to trigger when needed (2:43 again). So all in all, sidechain bus is good for when a majority of the components require the same pressure.
@@user-lt2rw5nr9s yeah the peak controller is good too I'm still using it but I thing that the limiter is much organized I mean u only put it in one channel and link what ever u want with it and that's kinda easier
sometimes you need another signal except for the kick to trigger the compressor, though. If you have a long kick sample it sometimes messes up the sidechaining when using the fruity limiter (or any other compressor i think). So as far as I understand there are situations where the peak controller is not a bad choice.
This was way more detailed then others. I have a request, you should do a routing tutorial, some times I'd use the peak controller on fl keys = detune or release so much u can do with a simple " link to controller "
(🥭FL STUDIO) *How to make House sidechain in Fruity Love Philter:* • Load up default patch • Turn on HQ envelopes (less clicking) • Turn off oversampling (saves CPU) • Set Filter type to OFF • Enable Tempo on Vol Envelope • Make a bar long LFO curve • Make sure you set the start and endpoints to loop your LFO TIP: If you want to move off-grid, you can always switch off the green magnet button on the bottom-right of the grid.
It's great idea but only in the case you want to do the same shape of sidechain s on all elements/ you wont be able to change the setting for Pads to make a different pumping effect in comparision with one you like for Piano or Basses, if you you do not care so it will be straightforward. I means it depend on your song atmosphere or style
I never knew something so simple could have such a huge impact on the overall sound a song, this is what my tracks were missing the whole time
Yeah it's incredible! Now I need to learn and understand mastering.

1:15 mark all the inserts that you wish to sidechain, on your sidechain track right click the little arrow and select ''route to this track only''
What happens if you don’t & still unclicked it from master and just click arrow vs route to this track only?
@@audijoseph2371 same thing, comments way is just faster
