I've never owned an Audi or a pickup. What should I get?
An Audi 100%
Audi
How about a Volkswagen Rabbit pickup. Lol
Clapped out GMC Syclone. Audis are the same as BMWs. It's just a never ending chase after dash lights or engine out timing chain stuff. Or, hear me out, UNIMOG! It is a Mercedes.
How about both, there is a company that will sell you a pickup kit for a B6 or B7 A/S 4 (www.smythkitcars.com/audi-a4-s4-ute)
The n54 is such a fun engine, when everything is working right!
They only last a few hours before giving you a new problem 😹
Reminds me of the 4g63t, so much fun but little issues keep coming up.
Alex, being one of your Mercedes-only content viewers, I’m glad that even a BMW can tickle you enough to get that giddy laugh out of you! Looking forward to the V12 rebuild content coming soon. Stay safe, my friend!
Alex is very nice and humble person. In my opinion the best automotive channel right now! Just please keep it like this, don’t change... Great job!!!
Been on the N54 platform for a while now. I have 175k miles on my tuned 135i last 20k has been on e85 with hybrid turbos making around 550whp. Take care of them and they last forever! I’ve seen people with higher miles than me too
You also use the John Ross patent not pending Bluetooth Funnel!? That's awesome. I love the Bluetooth funnel. Lol
Was just going to mention ol' WatchJRGo's Bluetooth Funnel! 🤣
@@drewping2002 I was adding coolant to my son's gf car and I asked her if she could hand me the Bluetooth Funnel. Well she's looking all over the garage for it and finding different funnels and meanwhile I've already added the coolant, so she is still looking and then I explained it to her, she finally got it. I also wanted to teach her how to change a tire, so I show her all the steps, Florida blazing heat. I'm sweating to death but I want her to be able to put her temp tire on if she needs to. Then 2 months later she got a blowout. And I'm like 'Oh did you change the tire like I showed you?'. She said 'No. I'm cute. And I have big boobs. Those 2 things will get your tire changed almost anywhere.' I would worry about what other things it could get her but she's also an assistant instructor for the Krav Maga school nearby.
Nailed it!
I had a Beemer I bought one time for an awesome price that the ABS light was always on and it was in limp mode. Code readers would say it’s a wheel speed sensor. Changed those out, still same issue. Then after a ton of reading up online, i sent my ABS module to get rebuilt by a company in Van Nuys, CA. Got it back, plugged it back in and all issues gone. Out of limp mode and ABS light off. If the WSS is not the fix, try the ABS module. Good luck!
I had this car new. Absolutely loved it. My brother had one too, but it was an X. We only had them for around 30k, so obviously we never ran into any issues. Super fun to drive, and at the time it was considered really fast for a stock car. Definitely one of my favorite cars I ever owned.
Best way to own them. Enjoy them new and get rid of them before problems arrive.
We definitely need more 335i content ASAP.
Came to you for the e55 content, about 3 years ago. Stayed because you are a nice guy and you teach me things.
I now have an e55 as my daily driver, despite the high cost of fuel in France. Low miles, needs cosmetic help and a few gaskets. I will never sell it, it’s too much fun.
The 1000 hp trans am brought me to you’re channel years ago. The great content keeps me coming back😁 awesome job Alex💯
I m genuinely excited for whatever announcement to make this channel bigger and better. Alex has been an awesome source of entertainment for my automotive needs
Really nice vid man. I had a 2010 N55 and they have way less issues. Also had the JB4 with the flex fuel adapter, open thermostat, ER charge pipe, VRSF 7" intercooler and it would spin the wheels in 3rd on 60/40 fix. Drove it around for 4 years and the only thing that broke was some tail lights and cracked 19inch rims. My dash was 95% clear of lights. :)
Great episode and information. Thank you. I had a 2008 335i with a tune done to the ECU. It was a lot of fun and I liked it a lot. Not I'm going to try and find another but one of the biggest things this car needs is an LSD! I really is one of the things it was missing when I had mine. So please consider looking into modifying your 335i with an LSD. TY again! Update: 2022 I bought another one! I have another 2008 335 and I'm loving it! I bought it for $1500 USD and have put about $4000 in Maintenance and bolt on's along with the tune (MHD) and XHP trans tune. YEA BABY!!
Funny thing is, BMW coolant is not expensive. Recently I checked out some of the “cheap” stuff for my non BMW cars. It was actually more expensive because it comes pre mixed. The BMW coolant at say $24 is actually only $12 a gallon after mixing which in my recent experience was cheaper than the Prestone pre mix per gallon.
why would you ever buy the premix? you are just paying for water lol
This is most informative bmw video I have seen in a while. Guy actually shows what’s exactly done to his car.
19:19 "Footage from a professional race track event." 🤣
love that youve found the n54 platform theyre definitely finnicky but the smiles they bring for the price is insane and theyre still so slept on at this time theyre cheap still
Alex! Dude you’ve gotta get the JB4 app on your phone! It’s way easier than using the steering wheel controls! You can actually see what you’re doing AND displays your gauges like trans temp, air/fuel ratio, intake air temp, etc! (FYI, I am the guy with the 535xi wagon who commented on your IG account asking if you’re interested in buying it.) I put the JB4 app on an old phone of mine and just use it solely for that car when I drive it. 😎
I’m not a huge mechanical guy but I enjoy watching these videos! Does this guy have a shop? My BMW is doing something no one can figure out...
Hello Alex, I am a Swedish guy, who watched this video about ABS ring and sensor, my volvo s60 01 had same issue on the front driver side and the mechanic replaced the Abs ring and sensor that i had bought and the Abs warning and Stc warning light after deleting the codes from the ECU box with a diagnostic tool, i chech your videos and they're great
Love the 335i content, u made me get mine up and running today.
In MHD under the extra options section with the exhaust burble there is an option to code out O2 sensor faults. That would solve your issues with your high flow cat giving you a fault.
That driver front rim bend though 😳
You should also apply linear throttle on the extra options for MHD. Big difference in drivability I think you'd appreciate too. The car loads up too much with too little pedal pressure w/ the stock pedal coding.
As a master bmw technician, it makes me happy that your actually using bmw coolant. Aftermarket coolant destroys the coolant system
An engine bay detail on this beast would be a really good video !
I couldn't take my eyes off the RX7 in the background, very cool car, my mum owned one back in the day, Rj in Oz
I've always wanted one of these 335i's to also geek out on :) I agree with MB/Audis of this same gen costing so much more to tune having 7-8 Audis in my lifetime. This is actually brilliant to see you can do this affordably with these Bimmers. You might like the Audi's in Chi Town come Winter. The Quattro driveline is pretty amazing to play in the snow! As always, I dig this Channel and can't wait for Fridays.
Alex, I too have an 07 335i. Only 57k miles! Not bad! Helps that it has been an island car it’s whole life though, greetings from Honolulu Hawaii! Ps I subbed to u for the content not the cheeseburgers.
Also, I’d like to add that the 2AFF fuel pump plausibility code is nothing to worry about. My car and most others have that code present in the dme but it will not throw a light on the dash.
PLEASE get an AUDI !! I want to see what you can unlock with a tune ! Those things are complete MONSTER SLEEPERS best with that Quattro and manual transmission I do and its AMAZING ! you will LOVE IT !! Best Of Luck !
Been following since you picked up the misdiagnosed c63! Can’t imagine what this news is, but I’m sure as hell excited for you.
I have never seen a 335 without that fuel pump plausibility shadow code . There is a TIS from BMW stating not to replace the lpfp unless accompanied by other symptoms . The cause of the code is the DME being overly sensitive to the lpfp reading . This is an issue in both the msd80/81 DME .
Every time you say AUTO-TUNE I think of the "Aint nobody time for that" mix.
I love your channel prob one of my favorites no lie.
I love your channel. You stay true to simply focusing on the cars.
Autel, are you watching? The man is advertising your products well enough that I'm buying them.
Modules have a hard time when you hook up a battery charger to the battery direct. You should hook the cables on the engine side only to prevent module melt down
Do you know how many YT viewers would have been soooooooooo happy and utterly satisfied to see that BMW being hammered? My man you just missed a great chance to create the "most satisfying to watch" video on YT ever! :-D
excellent presenter and I liked the "cold" approach to finding the dreaded 30FF
I love the color of yours. I ended up with a black e92 335i that has been surprisingly bulletproof...besides catching on fire, starter, injectors, exploded charge pipe...regular stuff.
I've been watching, like religiously, the progress and the fun you're having with that BMW and you're reminding of me, in my Toyota Celica Turbo AWD when I had it (Yeah, I had one new. Yeah, I'm that old). I've never liked a car so much in my life, especially on snow (would go out driving during snowstorms, just to drift it around and have fun). But seeing you smile and laugh so much makes me wonder if I shouldn't sell my current fun car and get one of those instead. I wouldn't care about it breaking, since I do have a family hauler. Thanks for creating such great content! Really looking forward to your announcement (and I won't play the guessing game!)!
Cheapest light you can turn off on my M5 is replacing the 2x AA batteries in the rear seat remote control. Yes it actually throws an error code 🤣
I use an Autel Maxysis908 for years, I love it. It does more things than the snap on scanner does that we also have at work
I'd check your oil for coolant. Oil filter housing gasket (ofhg) fails on these spewing coolant into your oil. It's closed system into closed system so you'd still keep pressure. Could be where the coolant went. MHD is killer! Got it on mine too. ✌️
Yes this is a must have for a daily! Great work on this one from a BMW enthusiast to you 👊🏽💯
Hopefully that announcement is full time for the channel! Thanks for all the great content and interaction the last few years alex, wish you the best
That comment on the windshield wiper fluid light stung a little. I thought the same thing when I went to fill up my N54 535i. I watched as fluid poured out the bottom of the bumper/belly pan. I thought it was going to be the quickest fix... Nope I didn't get away with murder.
Big announcement “ladies and gentlemen, I’m finally able to leave my full time job and focus solely on making RUclips content for you guys”
Calling it right now
Beat me to it lol
I honestly think he's going to announce that he accidentally killed a guy one time.
"We would never smash it out because it annoys us" - speak for yourself 🤣
You haven’t punched your cluster on accident missing the steering wheel after someone almost killing you, no? Just me? Alright, don’t worry tho, it was a 500$ Honda, cluster didn’t matter anyways lol cuz it couldn’t speed running on 3 cylinders
Why even buy a BMW at all :)
You might find your clutch starts to slip soon!
"My expensive BMW coolant."
Spills half of it hahahaha
Very excited to see the upcoming content Alex, thank you!
I'm wondering if the big announcement is that you quit your full time job....
and purchased the biggest shop on youtube 🤣
idk this dude is a workaholic lol
And moving house to a larger workshop. Or setting up in Mancuso's.
does youtube really bring in that much? i’m not hating but I would be worried maybe if my videos didn’t work out and I don’t bring in enough...
@@natemeanor4247 it can. But not in ad revenue alone. Sponsorships and sales of merch is usually needed to make up the rest
You quit your job and bought a bigger place for a new garage?! Holly cow i hope so! 😁 Love you Alex! Keep it coming!
The great thing about owning a BMW is do you not only get a great car, you get a full-time hobby fixing all the crap that breaks on it. It's a double-win!
Awesome job explaining all of your fix up.
Fuel pump plausability is pretty much always there. There was a massive thread on e90post basically saying that it doesn't matter and it's safe to ignore. It also doesn't throw a CEL either. 174k miles still going strong here! Just threw my stage 1 MHD tune on it and wow, what a difference from stock!
Great to know. Thanks!
That pressure tester is an excellent way of finding a leak...
providing you haven't already just spilled fluid all over your engine and garage floor!!!
Great video Alex. Made me think a little better of BMW... Looking forward to some great news for you.. You totally deserve it.. You're good at what you do and your channel.. Thanks from Nashville...
R.I.P. 335i Clutch 🙈🤣 and have a great Easter 👍🏼😎
Yes to the detail video. Get it done 👍👍👍
RUclips full-time or LegitStreetCars multi-bay garage?🤔🤔🤔 Stoked!
Love your videos Alex...now I’m looking for a 335i to play with.
I love the N54 content 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
As a previous N54 owner I can confirm this platform is awesome. Only if you can wrench on your own cars and don't have a problem buying the software to tune and code. I am also a previous owner of an N54 that spun a rod bearing. Knowing the maintenance history of these cars is key to the buying process. When I purchased mine with 90k the carfax said, one owner female, all service done at the dealership. Good right? WRONG! BMW if I remember correctly recommended oil change intervals on these cars at or over 10k miles. You know that's exactly what happened or that interval was abused. Buy careful buy cautiously. My used engine swap was around 4k after I did all the "while I'm in there stuff". That hurt a little lol when the car was only worth 12k at the time. But these are worth it and handle very very well. I am almost jealous I don't have mine anymore.
Just to share this info MHD has now made all of the options that JB4 has and then some. So it's become the dominant tuner platform since this video was made. Multi map switching on the fly as well as Anti Lag up to 15 psi etc.
"There is no way everything in an 07 BMW passes" - Words of wisdom
I got the coolant light on my E46. Had the tester on it for almost an hour, no leaks. I did have an aftermarket lower pressure cap. Put the old cap back on and never had the light come back.
congrats on your new garage.
I couldn't be more exicted for you brotha.
Alex, you code the cats out with jb4 and mhd. You got the best videos
Yeah look at the camera behind that thing is beautiful with that I think it’s red and black or orange I can’t tell so far back scale black stripe down its really at three come out nice to
Dude, be careful on that section of Devon Ave., its a speed trap
he must have edited out the part of getting pulled over and ticketed
Im a newbee to your channel maybe 6 months and i like what you do.
Crazy. Mexico looks just like the midwest!
That first gen Rx7 😍😍😍😍😍
That Autel Maxisys is THE BOMB for automotive diagnostics.
It's not cheap either. Like $2000 new.
Congratulations Alex!! Can’t wait for the reveal!!!!!
So close to 500k subs! Been here since 100k. Keep up the great content my friend! Vroom Vroom! 🎉
need to get this channel to 500k
Reader didn't pick up the nice bent front rim . Lol
Product Placement ... always a good thing!!!👍👍👍
I won’t argue performance statistics regarding the car itself but what I know for sure is that a heads and cam LS that sounds like an army marching is far more satisfying to own
The buckled alloy won't be helping the wheel speed sensor and coolant may be getting passed the cap for the tank as noticed it had white marking before you started and these are known to leak. Wouldn't show on a pressure test as didn't use the bmw cap 👍
Love the content❤️ Please don’t say they are cheap haha have owned one for last 4 years they are not cheap but are amazing cars . You really should do the m3 control arms in the front if you have rwd. In my opinion it was the best mod
These are so cheap for the power you can get out of them
Nice seeing you at the shop today. Btw I have a 335i as well. Lol N54 engines are fun 😂 I was the kid with the glasses btw my names david sorry for not introducing myself but I was really busy
Bout time u jumped onto the MaxiSys platform. I've had mine since the Pro came out end of '16 beginning of '17. Of course the elite came out 6 months later. Besides the fast tablet, (which I don't mind since mine hasn't lagged on me at all) I really regret not having the docking/charging station. But I've had mine since '17 and hasn't given me 1 issue.
You have to do the jpeg file delete mods, so you see the manufacturers emblems instead of their names. It makes it look way better and much cleaner look.
You SHOULD get in touch with each and every tool manufacturer you use,you have enough eyes on your videos to make them money...why not at the least free tools,a lil money kicked in... something!
I have a rare 2008 TRD supercharged Tundra that needs some sorting - would love to have you work on it and help me get it 👌. Keep up the amazing content!
Been waiting for this!!
For coding try ISTA/Rheingold and E-Sys.
Tool32 is also a good alternative for some crazy stuff.
Awesome video! Loved it.
It had some Pimp my ride vibes - ‘Yo, we heard you liked tuners, so we put some tuners on your tuners on your tuners’
I like to do the no funnel fill at work. No better time to practice than when it isn't my money lol
In options. Select shift bog delete. Also shift at 6k. Any higher is costing you power.
There’s a pin on a spring inside the mirror that locks it in the unfolded position. Is the mirrors are not used for a while it can seize. I freed mine with WD40 and repeatedly folding it, with a bot of persuasion from a rubber mallet. Not a sledgehammer!
Then code it to fold the mirrors on locking so that the mechanism sees constant use.
Where are you finding jb4's for 150? I seen over 800hp on stock motor. The fact you don't have to tear the motor apart to get crazy hp is part of why I went with the N54. Maintenance is keep on these engines. You keep up on it and its as reliable as anything else. Got a 135i 6mt which is rare to see. Don't see many on the road which is a plus for me. Get all your parts from FCP euro and its warranty for life long as you own it.
In the BMW european accessories catologue the sledge hammer is listed as a reset device
I must try that idea!
"No honey - I haven't done the dishes/picked up my underwear from the bedroom floor/pooper-scooped the patio... because I'm getting ready to do a RUclips video on the best ways to do it!!".
Beautiful car! It has an awesome sound! Love it!
Thanks Alex! Next time, go classic Beemer with a simple e36 NON - M3... simplicity
