I've always felt he was the best part of Cream. His solo work towers over me to this day. RIP dear Jack.
I love Eric but he was so insecure about Jack's incredible talent, education and skills. When Clapton killed Cream he reformed the band in a few weeks with Ginger, Winwood and Ric Grech. The only piece missing was Jack.
@@jimparker7778 who said that Jack said he learned a lot from Eric and Ginger just showed up in the new band 🙂
Clapton did'nt kill Cream..
He had enough of the the feud between Jack and Ginger, which often ended in onstage brawls..If they had had the discipline to stay together, not fighting against themselves, the band surely lasted much longer..
@@marceibel1131 That's Eric's perspective. He is the one who was always getting interviewed, not Jack or Ginger.
Without him no Fresh Cream
He definitely had one of the greatest voices in rock.
I was fortunate enough to see him play on several occasions. His bass playing was extraordinary but it was his voice that impressed me the most. Although it sounds crazy, when he began to sing my fist thought was, "Wow he sounds just like Jack Bruce!" Obviously I had heard him sing on the recordings he had made and he had a very distinctive voice. Despite this it did not prepare one for how it sounded live. It was truly a remarkable experience.
Indeed !!!❤❤
OMG ❤
Soul & Jazz you mean
Handsome, talented, outstanding guy - Jack Bruce came from another planet... R.I.P. Legend 🖤
Great to see a young..John Marshall..one of the 70’s greatest fusion drummers
The greatest voice from a golden generation of singers. Power, perfect pitch, emotional depth with apparent ease. Thanks for the thrill of hearing you Jack.
Jack Bruce!!! Still my favorite!! Songs for a tailor??!! God rest his soul!! Cream was the best!!!
Wonderful musician, will always be up there with the greats. Ever time I hear his bass on crossroads, his vocal on Spoonful and them unhinged chord changes on Rope ladder I’m totally mesmerised by the man’s greatness RIP
jack bruce, one of the greatest in rock history!!!
That version of Folk Song (the last song) always gives me chills and shivers. Just a gorgeous piece of of music.
Fantastic
This documentary evokes emotions. It's hard to accept that gradually the members of a diverse group of musicians around Jack Bruce are no longer with us, and of course himself. Pete Brown passed away recently, but we also remember Graham Bond, Alexis Korner, Ginger Baker, Jon Hiseman, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Leslie West, Gary Moore and many more at Jack's side. It was the golden era of gifted artists.
Thank God Eric is still around.
Playing "Things We Like" a lot recently. Dick Heckstall-Smith shines.
@@lorincowell6944 I listened to "Things We Like" again today after being reminded by you. No question: all four musicians were (and John M. of course still is) innovative travellers between the genres, and here congenially on the jazzy side of life. Recorded in August 1968, i.e. for Dick and Jon H. pretty much exactly between the recordings of John Mayall's Bare Wires in April 1968 and Colosseum's debut album Those Who Are About to Die Salute You in November 1968. Simply magnificent.
@lorincowell6944
John McLaughlin's guitar playing on "things we like" is outstanding also👍
60’s 70’s the golden era of Rock and it’s varied and associated offshoots, glad it was the era I grew up in . Jack had awesome talent .
Jack Bruce was excellent at this clip, but so was the band. Big thanks to WDR Rockpalast for posting this to RUclips!
Multi instrumentalist. An extraordinary talent. And also very underrated in my opinion.
Why underrated? By whom?
Jack Bruce underrated? Not by me pal.
@@mariogrechi1840By most rock fans, in my experience from fifty years or so.
This was simply incredible! I have a new found appreciation for Jack Bruce as I had never seen this documentary before that last song was just breathtaking. Everything this man does is epic. I speak of him in present tense as his music lives forever.
Folk Song
He has such a feel, on piano, and that voice, my goodness. I saw him perform several times, over the years, in a small club in Boston and in New York. OUT OF THIS WORLD...
Great singer with an amazing range and fantastic bass player. Loved everything he did with Cream and “ Why Dontcha” with Leslie West & Corky Laing. Sadly missed and irreplaceable.
I freaking love his voice! And his bass-playing, it goes without saying.
There's nothing ,Jack could not do. Ultimate Musician ,Singer, etc, etc. Seen Him w/ Cream ,to this Day left a lasting impression and Memory ...
Chris Spedding.....SixString Killer💥🎸💥
This is such a nostalgic, deja vu trip. We'll never see this kind of poignant, natural talent again
most touching version of 'Imaginary Western' I've ever heard, wonderful, thx!
Jack was a genius musician and composer. You Burned The Tables was a perfect opener, it has the tightest groove of any song I've heard. Jack stayed true to his immense talent and abilities and he is missed.
And one of the greatest bassists.
Fantastic film ..More than a virtuoso bass player ,Jack was also a wonderful singer and songwriter ..really moving to discover this film just the same day the incredible drummer John Marshall passed away ...
Beautiful moments, just a complete master musician and composer. The soul of Cream and so much more, as we see here. Loved this.
The Cream Goodbye album was my first album and I mainly bought it because of Jack Bruce. He just played the bass but not in the background like so many others, but prominent, and at the same level as Eric Clapton. Unfortunately, I never saw him live.
Saw him in several incarnations , post Cream .And you would've been , as I ,absolutely riveted .
Lovely piano version of Theme From Imaginary Western ❤
, ... beautiful !
Harmony Row is a fantastic album.
Better than Songs For A Tailor.? I'm not sure about that.Still, each to their own.
@@johnnyhmash I like them equally.
@bigtone1348 I found Harmony Row disappointing but I shall give it another try.
@@johnnyhmash 🤪👍
Jack performing Theme for an imaginary Western on the piano just did me in.He was such an amazing musician and an inspiration to so many. Just ask Geddy Lee about Jack Bruce and anybody growing up in the late 60's and early 70's.
MAGIC... nothing less; soOoo much MORE!!! Hear, hear to most ALL of the above comments. RIP JACK....
The sound restoration of this show is wonderful. I have an old copy on an import Rockpalast DVD is this is far superior. Thank you!
Thanks, this is just wonderful. Would also like to say thanks for all the great music, Jack Bruce. Class act❤💯❤️
Jack Bruce was a true Master.
And I thought Steve Winwood was unsurpassable ...
So glad to come across this. Beloved Jack Bruce, 1972. Just before West, Bruce, Lang I believe.
What a life and career.
I played bass in the orchestra in middle and high school, and electric with friends. Jack and Stanley Clarke were my heroes.
Bless you 🙏 Jack a life well lived. 🕉
more than a bass player he was.
Saying Jack was Cream's bass player is like saying McCartney was the Beatles' bass player.
Super rare songs and interview . THANK YOU !
Thank you for this upload. "Theme for an Imaginary Western" needs to survive into the 21st Century.
One of the Rock Leaders...Eternal Master !...
Jack was always one of my favorites musicians and a great inspiration…
Lovely voice
One of my heroes! Big fan. Saw him twice. Once In 1980 Jack Bruce and Friends and then with Ringo's All Star Band. Have a lot of his solo stuff along with Cream, West, Bruce and Lang, BLT and BBM.
Corky Laing not Lang 😉,i saw WBL in Brussels '73,great gig !
Greatest Musician, Compouser and also unforgettable Singer of Rock'n'roll music! Simple Man and Genius musician Forever!! Thanks!
Brilliant bassist, singer, and songwriter. And easy on the eyes too. Here, in front of his country house, he looks positively Arthurian.
Jack Bruce , the greatest ❤
Oh my. This is a living fire isn't it?
That was the best version of "Theme From An Imaginary Western" that I've ever heard. Thank you very much for posting this.👍
Wow! Just wow....
Yes best vocals in the rock scene. RIP Jack!!! You' re such an pioneer and an influence!!! The HEART of Cream! ❤
"Jack Bruce" - This name speaks for itself!
Never realized he was a multi-instrumentalist until I watched this. I have much more admiration and appreciation for him now. He’s now definitely higher up there on my top bassists list. Gonna give his solo stuff a good listen-to now.
I'm stoked for you. It's like when I hear someone taking a trip somewhere. If I may suggest his first 2 solo lp's a good place to start. A musician's musician. The High Llama of the Bass Guitar. As Scot a Scotsman as there ever was.
Same here... I have two vinyl albums somewhere... I love cream, but somehow haven't checked Jack Bruce's solo stuff. I dislike most of Clapton's solo stuff, itd be nice to see what Bruce got up to
He was apart of the Cream! Of course he’s amazing
Alright it’s been 10 months since I made this comment and I have now listened to all of his solo stuff. I have to say I was very impressed and very glad that I spent some time to do it.
@@haydenarlington8256 then listen to West, Bruce & Laing
God Bless your soul Jack Bruce.
Absolutely ♥️, master Jack Bruce. Thanks so much for posting.
Greatest...master....monster.....
Hes in my heart and will always be ....thx
What a great voice
Great to see John Marshall on drums!
Jack Bruce. The cream main man!😊
sitting in a warm bath soaking my bones and this is giving me chills
A monster talent!
Rare talent! 🤘🎤🎸🍻
amazing , Chris Spedding and Graham Bond. ....never seen this footage ....
J.B. = Awesomeness!! R.I.P.
Sweet, beautiful home video of Jack and Joe ❤ 😢
Such a talent a truly miss
RIP
When he was in Tony Williams’ Lifetime with John McLaughlin and Khalid Yassin (Larry Young) they were too technical for audiences and had to split up after their European tour. No way enough Americans could rise to that level of sophistication. Damn shame.
Right on never seen Jack playing piano.... sounded really good
Such a family man. With his kid here.
Nice house too. I read he had 8 houses
Holy mowly great to see this...just unbelievable...I'm so glad...😇🙏👍👍👍
I wish Cream did this song so bad to late 😭🎸 Jack knew the world would never change because of music only God can change a heart ❤️
Jack was one Hep Cat. I always loved his hip, beatnik style. Great voice.
I had the good fortune to see Jack Bruce live over the years, at a small cellar club in Boston, 1977, then a couple times much later in the 2000s in New York. The guy put a spell on the audience, especially when playing “We’re Going Wrong” which often closed the show.
Eric Clapton took the pop star road, even endorsing a men’s fashion line at one point. But Jack was 100% pure up to the very last performance. Check out “A Child’s Song”, on piano with orchestral accompaniment.
My hero Jack Bruce!!
, ........... ganz wunderbar !
What a force
MY HEROE!
WAO... So GREAT !!! What a TRIP !!!
I hope this Rockpalast special can be released on DVD 📀
